"Ah, so it would make one more like a kitsune by giving access to it's abilities?"

Kit sighs. "Yeah, but Sekhmet needs to know more recent history than that. Let me demonstrate. Sekh, who do you think was president in 1985?" "I can't even imagine..." She searches Kit's memories. "...oh wait. That Nixon fellow, right?" "No, that was just in a book I read. The real president in 1985 was Ronald Reagan." "Reagan? The actor?" Kit starts laughing. "What's so...heh...funny? Are you m-mocking me?" "No, sorry. That's just a famous movie line. " She looks to Erika. "So I think you can see our predicament."

"Yeah, pretty much."

".. Well, I was headed to the workshop. Do you want to come with me, or are you going to keep training?"

Erika nods at Kit, getting into a standing-equivalent state for now. "I think I can see your predicament here on getting to be more learned on history." She mentions as she goes to set her mystery novel aside, forgetting to bookmark the novel, and losing her place. "Though I haven't delved too deeply into the historical records, maybe we'll be able to get you up to speed on history."

"Well, I wanted to do 100 slashes, but eighty should be fine. Ill tag along with you, o mask maker.", she says with a grin followed by a wink.

Ada would be fucking around on her PC, perusing the latest audio-based memes to come out of Soundcloud and Youtube, but honestly, watching the others is way more entertaining. Two weeks later, and these people never fail to amuse me. Tho I haven't gotten out much...

Ada closes her laptop and reclines back in her chair, quietly listening to the others. Eavesdropping is something of a hobby of hers.

Kit smiles. "Thanks. We appreciate the help."

"Oh, okay then." He gives her a small smile and heads over to the workshop.

"Hey, Kit —" Joanna closes her book and turns towards her — "Maybe we could show Sehkmet that movie, Back to the Future? We could swing into town, see if they still have a, a Video City, an Xtra-vision or whatever." Not the most graceful of beginnings, but at least she got the discussion going.

...wait, she never did get a good look into that theatre room, did she? Shoot, she might need actual film for tonight. What kind of store sells film anymore, let alone movie reels?

Kit tilts her head. That was rather...unexpected. "...that could be a good activity. What do you think, Sekh?" "That sounds swell. Thanks...Joanna, right?"

Erika gives the thought of a movie some thought, wondering if she should join, before nodding. "I suppose I could give a film a watch." She responded. "After all, I think books tend to have a longer shelf life, pardon the pun."

"Yes, Sehk, Joanna." She starts chuckling both at Erika's pun and Sehkmet's belligerent ignorance to her name after two weeks. I mean, come on, girl.

Meanwhile, Nina was reading a book, a small metal figure moving on her palm.

"Right..." Sekhmet looks a little confused. Is this another aspect of popular culture she has yet to understand? "So, anyway...Sekh, what's the last date you can remember?" "New Year's Eve, 1962." "Then we can start with 1963. Big year. The March on Washington, the Kennedy assassination, Beatlemania-" "Wait, what?!" "Sorry...do you need to sit down?" "...yes, please... Sekhmet walks over to a nearby chair and falls over into it, clearly shaken up.

The light in the library had grown much brighter as the day turned to mid-morning, the fog having burned off by now and the first few hints of real warmth chased off the early-morning chill in the air outside.

Mikaela follows Daydre. "I was never close to any practitioners of magic in my life", she said.

Taking in the surroundings, she adds, "It seems lunchtime is closer than I thought..."

Erika takes note of the brighter surroundings, nodding. "It seems as though the time just flies by." She remarks, having not yet coiled back up to 'seat' herself, though she does look towards Sekhmet with a bit of concern.

"I'm not a magic practitioner in the strictest sense.. I really can't do spoken spells, for example.. Where did the magic sword come from, then?"

He takes note of the changing light too. ".. Hm, I can probably do the sanding in the house.. Once I find the sand paper.."

It takes him a few minutes, but he finds the sandpaper. "So... lunch?"

Huh, time's passing quicker than I realized.

Ada gets to her feet and walks over to a shelf near Erika, Joanna, Kit and Sehk, listening in on them while acting as though she's looking for a book.

Sekhmet sits for a good while, not saying anything. "You gonna be alright?" "Yeah...I think so." "This will be harder than I thought. I thought it was just an issue of teaching you the most relevant information. But these people and places are more than just a list of data to memorize."

"It's like Rip van Winkle. Sleep for decades and it's a new world, and yours is just a history lesson. Jack and I weren't friends or anything, but I met him once at the White House, just before that nasty business in Cuba. I shook his hand. And now he's just...he was murdered?"

Kit's arms wrap around herself, as if she's trying to give herself a hug. "Sekhmet...there's a lot of things that happened while you were...asleep. Some terrible things. And some of them are so amazing. We went to the moon. Someday we may even go to Mars. Whatever the future has in store...you don't have to face it alone." Sekhmet sighs. "Thank you, Kit."

"It was a memento from an old friend.", she explained, "I mean, for all I know he could've practiced magic in secret, but he's had it for as long as I could remember."

"And yes, I constantly think about my next meal. I get hungry easily."

"Ah..."

"I should probably learn to do that... I forget to eat pretty often."

"Missing a meal would be a tragedy in my world, I love food."

"I love food too, I'm just forgetful." Daydre shrugs. Sandpaper begotten, he heads out of the workshop.

Following, Mikaela asks, "Just wondering... You don't put... Souls in masks, do you?"
