There's literally no reason to assume that other than for the sake of being pessimistic.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeYour icon fits your statement.
Shaming people who aren't as positive as you isn't going to make TV Tropes a more positive place, dude. It's just going to do the exact opposite. :|

man that's an ironic post if i've ever seen one
and like
i'm not saying "hey you should be an optimist!"
i'm just saying that there's no reason to be pessimistic
i don't think i was even shaming them. i certainly wasn't trying to.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI'm calling it shaming because you didn't really "attack" their argument so much as you outright shut it down with a single sentence on the basis that it was too pessimistic for your tastes. You didn't actually give a reason why they shouldn't think that way.
Like, if I were to reply to you solely with, "There's literally no reason to argue this other than for the sake of defending Nintendo," are you telling me you wouldn't feel a just little bit insulted?
not really, no. and if such comment is made i would respond with evidence as to why there is reason to feel that way.
And the reason that's all i said is because there's no evidence to justify the idea that towns in Hyrule must suck just because they haven't shown them off when there's other evidence where they have stated that it's because plot.
Like, I understand the sentiment of "hey, i question the quality of towns because they haven't shown them off", but assuming "towns must suck because nintendo is hiding them" is pessimism for the sake of pessimism
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-Mae???
Well, in any case, you certainly wrote more than a single sentence now. I wish people here would always have that level of respect. I get that a lot of other places bash Nintendo to toxic levels, but people here acting just condescending enough to evade the mods whenever someone says something negative about Nintendo is pretty toxic in itself.
while i won't deny that i was being a bit condescending, i didn't actually intend to be condescending nor did i meant my post to come across as a personal insult because i do that to literally everyone.
however i still maintain the fact that it was pessimism for the sake of pessimism. especially when you consider
which surrounded the quote that you pulled out from their post.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI have low hopes for good towns. And I will continue to have low hopes for them until I have reason to believe otherwise. If that makes me pessimistic, fine. I don't think there's anything contradictory about being excited for part of a game while thinking another section will under deliver.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences. It's not contradictory, I just find that your reasoning for why the town aspect will under-deliver (and then adhering to the idea that it must be bad as to not be disappointed) is irrational.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeRemember No Man's Sky.
Spoilers are a lame excuse.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. The belief that all games must suck unless proven otherwise is inherently irrational.
The idea that the existence of No Man's Sky proves otherwise is faulty at best, especially since the circumstances between BOTW and NMS are so vastly different it isn't even funny.
That's not to mention the fact that the issues with NMS had nothing to do with stuff that they weren't showing, but rather not delivering on stuff they did show in a meaningful way.

"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeYeah.
You're entitled to your opinion Sterok, but I just don't think it's a good idea to assume something is bad because they've said nothing about it.
I mean, maybe you think if you set your standards low, you can't be disappointed (and in fact get pleasantly surprised if you turn out to be wrong, which is a strong possibility) but I wonder if that kind of anti hype means that you'd get the same results as you would if you set your standards too high:
No matter what, it comes off as disappointing. I really think it's better to just wait and see and then judge rather then assuming well I guess that means it sucks.
That being said, I'm not you, and I can't tell you how to feel. I can only give my opinion on the matter.
One Strip! One Strip!Breath of the Wild rated M for Mature in Australia.
Note: M for Mature in Australia is T for Teen when compared to the ESRB.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."From that I can guess it'll be 12+ in PEGI.
The Game Awards on December 1 will feature an exclusive look at Breath of the Wild. Just like 2 years ago.
Your preferences are not everyone else's preferences.Yay!
And that's a bit sad!

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectBreath of the Wild information gives me sustenance. I shall not go hungry this week.
To be fair, Breath of the Wild became HUGE and developed HUGE GUTS in the interim period.

I sure said that! What are you guys most excited to explore in Bot W? Personally, I want to see what lies at the end of that spiral peninsula that you can see on this◊ map. I can imagine running along the whole length of it and getting some great treasure at the end. Also really curious what the hole is on the western mountain. In the game, that mountain is shrouded in clouds, so the peak can never be seen. It's hiding something...
I suppose I want to see the ocean because Hyrule has not had an ocean since Zelda II. The adult timeline does not count.
Yeah, that was less of Hyrule having an ocean and more like the ocean having a Hyrule. I agree that it would be cool to see. For myself, I'd be delighted to see a truly, dizzyingly, intentionally-easy-to-get-lost-in desert or cave system. In the case of the latter, I'd love a vast underworld to be the "shortcut" system (in the "explore the area from various entries from the overworld to open up quicker routes from place to place" sort of of sense), like a huge meta-dungeon... Buuuut that seems like quite the investment, I don't expect to see anything quite that scale.
Has any kind of fast travel system been confirmed? I'll be honest, I've been completely avoiding content on this game for quite a while. I have barely seen anything of the gameplay footage you guys have been talking about these last months.

"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."
My general policy for video game marketing is that if they can't show a feature and insist we take their word for it, then it will be extremely disappointing compared to what our imaginations inevitably form. Otherwise they'd show it off to drum up hype.
This is why I've been rather pleased with BOTW's promotion thus far. Instead of just telling us puzzles will have multiple solutions, they've shown how in several of them we can use platforming, magnetism, throwing objects, etc. in order to solve them. That shows their confident in what they have, and we have reasonable expectations for what to be excited for. We're not just told that we have to be weary of the climate. We've seen Link can cut trees to form bridges and that he needs clothes or special food in order to survive the cold. For the most part I feel they've done a good job of showing what features we can truly expect without needing baseless hype.
Obviously for the story quality and stuff like being able to go to the final boss immediately are harder to verify without giving too much away, but given how much openness we've seen I'm inclined to trust Aonuma for the latter.
For towns specifically we haven't seen anything that remotely resembles a town, so I remain pessimistic on how good they will be. Especially since Nintendo has been rather loose with spoilers the past few years. This does not mean they will be bad. Maybe the spoiler argument will be genuine, or they're saving them for a later trailer. But until then I'm going to assume that they won't live anywhere near up to what Skyrim or The Witcher 3 have for example.
