The year is 2335. Almost three hundred years have passed since the end of the Great War and the death of Optimus Prime and Galvatron; for the first time in four million years, peace reigns on Cybertron. The ancient, energy-guzzling Autobots and Decepticons have been superseded by their descendants, the Maximals and Predacons: a generation that has never known the horrors of war. The great cities of old have been gutted, paved over, and buried. After a million years of false starts and erroneous prolclmaations, it is finally the dawn of a new era.

In this new age, the Maximal Elders and the Tripredacus Council have arisen from the ashes of the old governments, controlling this new Cybertron under a mutual non-aggression pact. Ostensibly, it is an era of peace. Yet old grudges die hard, and the Predacons still chafe under the humiliating armistices imposed on them by the terms of their ancestor's surrender. Working through the shadows, the mysterious Council pulls strings and recruits proxies to do its dirtiest deeds. Bit by bit, the Council secretly attempts to steer Cybertron back into a new war- a war where the Tripredacus Council will rise up to finish what the Decepticons started.

With Cybertron once again a gleaming jewel in the heavens ,the Maximals have turned their optics to the heavens once more. Great colonization ships trawl the stars, exploring new frontiers. Seeded with protoforms, the nascent Maximal Imperium works to re-colonize distant worlds, peacefully exploring the galaxy in the name of knowledge. A desire born out of optimism - and naivety. More than one Autobot could tell their descendants that there are things that should stay far away from Cybertronians, and planets best left forgotten...

Approximately three weeks ago, the Destiny – a Maximal colonization ship sent to explore the uncharted Mirtonian sector light-years away from Cybertron – disappeared without so much as an SOS. The Maximal Galactic Patrol sent another ship, the Legacy toinvestigate. Several days later, the Legacy returned, apparently unscathed… on the outside.

Of the six Maximals sent to investigate the fate of the Destiny, a grand total of one – an unassuming ‘bot named Hydraulix - made it back. Suffering from severe amnesia and glitchy datatrax, Hydraulix was sent to the Ratchet Memorial Hospital for counselling, in the hopes of figuring out just what had happened to this lone survivor. In the meantime, a Maximal patrol has been briefed on a top-secret mission: to travel to the Mirtonian Sector and meet any threats to colonization with lethal force..

But the Tripredacus Council knows more than they let on. They know that there’s something of great importance in the Mirtonian quadrant: a lost relic from before the Great War that could give them the advantage against the Maximal Imperium once and for all. They’ve dispatched a team of Predacon mercenaries to secure this valuable asset.

Cut off from home and marooned on a strange world, the race is on. Will the Maximals discover the dark secret behind the Destiny’s voyage, or will the Predacons re-ignite the Great War once and for all?

Hey guys, and welcome to this Beast Wars RP. You don't need to have a lot of knowledge about the franchise to join; if you like Transformers, or if you like animals, or if you like Transformers that turn into animals, then come on down.

The RP is going to be fairly open-ended; there'll be an overarcing plot, but there'll also be lots of downtime for exploration, interaction, and character development. There will, of course, be more than a few Maximal/Predacon battles (it is Beast Wars, after all). Standard RP rules apply. But you guys know that already, don’t you? Just… don’t be a jerk and we’ll all get along great.

Signup Profile

  • Name: What your character is called.
  • Faction: Maximal or Predacon?
  • Gender: Male/female/other
  • Function: A character's specialty - anything from a demolitions expert to a jungle scout to a geochemist.
  • Personality: What makes your character tick? Lone wolf or party animal?
  • Beast Mode: What does your character turn into? Any real Earth animal, living or extinct, will do. Points for creativity and originality. You don't start off with the beast mode, but you'll get it shortly after the start of the RP.
    • Note on Scale: Maximals are roughly 5-7 feet tall in robot mode, and this carries over to their beast mode. If they scan a smaller animal, it'll be scaled up, if they scan a big animal, it'll be scaled down.
  • Appearance: Basic description of your character's robot mode. At the very least, tell me what colour they are. If you're a turbo-nerd like me, you can even try and describe how they transform, and where their animal parts wind up in robot mode.
  • Weapons: Hand-held or built-in, ranged or melee, what kind of weapons do they carry? You get three maximum weapons systems. If you go with three, then only two can be ranged. Guns that can blow up buildings in a single shot or destroy spaceships with ease are a no-no.
    • Beast mode features like horns, claws, spiky tails, etc. don't count as weapons.
  • Other gadgets: What built-in gizmos does your character carry? These are non-combat systems; they can include jet packs, radar scanners, cloaking devices, deployable drones, you name it.
    • You get up to ‘’’two’’’ miscellaneous systems. They can only be used in robot mode.
    • Having a winged beast mode counts as a power. You can, however, have a ground animal transform into a robot with a jet pack.
    • Other beast mode features like sticky feet or camouflage, however, do ‘’’not’’’ count as a power.

You can get up to two characters: one Maximal and one Predacon.

This RP is estimated to start approximately two weeks from today

... I gave in to my want to join because I figured this won't be as fast as COLC. Yes, I know it'll be a case of This Looks Like a Job for Aquaman but I did it because of that. Hopefully this is all right.

  • Name: Sleek
  • Faction: Maximal
  • Gender: Female
  • Function: Submarine operations and sniper. The former being specifically underwater rescue, combat, and repairs, mostly done in her beast mode while the latter is also done in robot mode.
  • Personality: Sleek comes off as calm and somewhat intimidating, especially in her beast mode...until you start talking to her. She's a goofy, talkative, energetic and compassionate individual. She likes jokes, she likes talking with others and she's always willing to help. The only time she's ever truly not as silly is whenever she's doing her sniper duties. She does take any responsibility she's given to heart and does them to the best of her ability. She's used to any form of teasing or jokes about her choice of beast mode but she could care less. She's actually quite practical and reasonable, considering part of the reason for her job of choice is the little competition for it and she also took the role of being a sniper since her mobility is best in underwater. Indeed, she does know how to do her job. Whether or not she does it well is up to debate.
  • Beast Mode: Sarcosuchus imperator; one of the largest crocodylians in existence. Underwater, she's quite fast in this mode.
  • Appearance: Her clawed hands are covered with the jaws of her beast mode, the upper jaw over her right hand and the lower jaw over her left. Her legs are a bit unusually shaped because her beast mode tail turns into her robot mode's legs. Her head is green with two yellow eyes with whites pupil and a "toothy" mouth. She looks like she's wearing a helmet with two small stubby horns. She often wears her goggles. The rest of her color scheme is erractic with her front, right arm and leg are a light shade of green while her back, left arm and leg are a very dark shade of green.
  • Weapons:
    • Beam Sniper Rifle: Exactly What It Says on the Tin, it's a rifle that looks like a blue, futuristic Tango 51 that shoots green beams.
    • Combat knives: Four of them, both with serrated "teeth" on the cutting edge. They're attached to the jaws (two each) covering her hands. They become her teeth in her beast mode.
  • Other gadgets:
    • Hi-tech goggles: Blue heavy set goggles that lets her communicate with other communication devices and let her see in the dark. They're rather durable and the tech is waterproof.
    • Welding Torch: Usable underwater.

  • Name: Grizz-o-War (starts out as Insomniac)
  • Faction: Maximal
  • Gender: Male
  • Function: Navigation, tactics, and raids on Predacon bases and resources.
  • Personality: Grizz-o-War is a Transformer of simple tastes. He likes to eat, he likes to sleep, he likes to fight and steal—or "acquire," as he insists on calling it—from the Predacons, and he likes to party. If he has a justification to do any of those things, he will. Despite the somewhat silly impression many get of him at first, he's more than meets the eye; when the time calls for it, he's a cunning combatant and clever tactician who can think his way out of a tight spot. Those who get to know him will find a Maximal trying to distance himself from his more unsavory days.
    • Backstory: Before joining the Maximals, Grizz-o-War was a Predacon space pirate named Insomniac—ironic, because even then he would nap whenever he had an excuse—who captained his own ship and a crew of about ten. He didn't particularly care if the ships he raided were Maximal or Predacon, as long as they had goods to sell and Energon to eat. As a leader, mutinies against him were rare—mostly because anyone who tried got kicked out and abandoned three galaxies away. He stopped after he was caught and arrested by Cybertronian authorities, and while imprisoned, realized he had been not a conqueror of open space, as he'd thought of himself, but a mere thief and plunderer. This realization motivated him to join the Maximals and put his skills to more constructive use by stopping other space pirates in exchange for a reformat and early release. Soon after, he was sent with the Maximal patrol to the Mirtonian Sector. Upon adopting his Beast Mode, he will rename himself Grizz-o-War in order to further the break with his past.
    • Habits: Talks like a pirate, a habit he got into years ago and never could quite break. When hungry, he will eat anything that vaguely resembles food, including raw Energon if he's desperate enough. Does not accept any formal titles of leadership, since he is concerned that being addressed by such titles, particularly ones like "Commander" or "Captain," will send him on a power trip and bring out his old ways.
  • Beast Mode: A California grizzly bear.
  • Appearance: In general, Grizz-o-War's robot form is brown in the parts that form the outside of his Beast Mode and silver in the parts that do not, including the grizzly bear head that becomes a chestpiece in his robot form. A couple of major parts stand out visually: his eyes glow blue, and the armor on his head resembles a green bandana and dreadlocks. He wears two Maximal insignias, one on the bandana-looking part of his armor, and one on the back of his neck.
  • Weapons:
    • Melee: A cutlass sheathed in his right leg.
    • Ranged: An energy pistol stored in his left leg.
  • Other gadgets:
    • Scanning systems located in the eyes of his bear head let him analyze all terrain and objects within 100 meters.
    • Rocket boosters in his feet allow him to fly in robot mode.

Name: Rust Sting
Faction: Maximal
Gender: Male
Function: Medical physician and chemist
Personality: When one first looks at Rust Sting, many would initially think of him as flaky, high-strung, and weak-willed. Most of the time, they are right. Despite his innate talent and incredible genius in chemistry, he has extremely low self-esteem. The fact that he has a near crippling fear of failure does not help much, leading to him voluntarily avoiding social contact with others beyond the necessary minimum and trying to put off work for as long as possible unless forced to otherwise. Also, whenever a crisis occurs, his first response is to almost always panic, and whenever he's nervous, which is almost always, he tends to completely forget and/or overlook important details, which always bites him in the tailpipe.

Despite these flaws, he does have some Hidden Depths. While an admitted coward, he is never cowardly enough to abandon either orders or others who are danger, and he will always try to save his comrades and others above all else. He also has a very well hidden scathing and vengeful side, constantly having biting and snarky opinions and responses to those who push him around within his head, though he will say them out loud if he believes no one can hear him. And while he own up to any mistakes he does, and has a tendency to take the blame for the mistakes of others, he will very angrily argue against accusations towards him for things he knows he did not do. The bot is very capable of doing great things, both good or bad, if pushed hard enough, though he has not reached that limit yet.......

Beast Mode: Megalograptus Sea Scorpion, about two meters in length
Appearance: Head of his beast mode folds down over his chest and torso like front armor and the rest of the body folds up like back armor. The large back legs act was his transformed feet while the long front legs stick out over him, acting like extra limbs (and looking like oversized antenna). The tail folds on top of his back and can be detached to become a weapon. Face lacks any real features, basically two halves of an oval shape, and solid black eyes with white pupils. His entire body is bright neon green with various black spots dotting his body.

Weapons:

  • Injector Gun: Handheld pneumonic powered pistol like device that has two modes. When the safety is on, directly injects any liquid loaded up into the canister slots into a chosen spot. If the safety is off, it fires specially made darts loaded into the bottom front slot coated in the liquid in the canister slot at a semi-automatic rate of fire.

  • Grappling Hook: Tail becomes a high powered grappling hook that can be fired at a smaller target to reel it in or, more frequently, to get to far away locations more easily. The central spike can be used as both a regular stabbing weapon and an injector.

  • Stinger Arms: The extra limb above can be used to lash out at opponents at melee range and to back melee weapon strikes.

Other gadgets:

  • Chem Pack: Devices of his own invention he carries around on a strap that allows him to cook up any sort of chemical concoction of his choice with just a few button presses. Current presets include healing gel, temporary performance boosting oils, tranquilizing agents of varying potency, electrified stun liquid, incendiary fluid, cryogenic fluid, and explosive gel.

  • Storage Unit: The space between himself and his front armor can be used to store a large multitude of smaller items for safe keeping, up to equal his own body weight as long as he can fit it inside the space provided.

Looking good so far!

@ Shoutmon Z: Sleek is accepted. One thing to note, though, is that stuff will take place on land - and in some cases characters might have to remain in their beast modes for some time. (There will be some rivers, swamps, oceans, etc, but that's not a guarantee.) Just giving you a warning in case you want to reconsider.

@ Nitrous: Grizz-o-War is accepted. One thing I forgot to mention in the signup is that characters don't start with their beast modes, but they'll pick them up within the first, oh, 3-5 pages of the RP.

@ Ud: Rust Sting is accepted. One change - Maximals are only about 6-7 feet tall, so the beast mode will reflect that.

"Might have to remain in their beast mode"? -imagines a mosasaur stuck on land- ... Okay then. I've change it to something that can at least go on land and made a few other changes as well.

  • Name: Blastproof(formerly Deconstruction)
  • Faction: Predacon
  • Gender: Male
  • Function: Demolitions/Engineering. Blastproof has been known to boast that he can build, fix, or break anything.

  • Personality: Blastproof originally worked in the weapon and armor workshops of the Predacons. He was part of the testing department and thoroughly enjoyed his work, testing things to destruction and then working out how to rebuld them even better. But he was dissatisfied with being confined to lab work, feeling that he needed to better understand field conditions to properly be of use. He tried several times to join the Predacon military but was always turned down due to his value where he was. So he left to become a mercenary, selling his skill with mechanics, engineering, and explosives to the highest bidder. Finding that he indeed had a lot to learn, he figures to remain a mercenary until he is satisfied he has learned enough. Blastproof is a highly intelligent and polite individual who remains calm in almost any situation. He has a wry sense of humor and will happily exchange banter with or snark at someone, considering simple insults too easy. He enjoys higher mathematics and is something of an amateur philospher, pondering upon the ideas behind things. In his view, it is only by testing something to destruction that one can learn to rebuild it better than before and this applies to everything, even nations and governments. There is a balance between anarchy and the stagnant peace of the Maximals and he believes the Predacons are the closest to achieving it. He regrets the necessity of destruction, particularly when it results in death, but never lets it interfere with his duty. He prefers to split his time between the field and the workshop still, as he practices applying what he has learned.

  • Beast Mode: Bombardier Beetle

  • Appearance: His head folds down over his chest, with the two antennae folding up flush to his upper body, then dropping down halfway to become part of his weapons. The thorax covering splits and swivels down into shoulder pauldrons. The two front legs combine into arms, with two thumbs unfolding from each so that he has four fingers per arm. The rear legs shift downwards and combine with sturdier limbs that unfold from the front of his abdomen.

  • Weapons:
    • Shock Baton: Given that if he is forced into close combat, something is very wrong, Blastproof opted for a melee weapon that even an inexperienced fighter might be able to use. If it makes contact with another bot, it delivers a paralyzing but nonlethal jolt of energy that should give him enough time to run for it. But only if he connects. It is stored on the left side of his abdomen.

    • Nanofiber Explosive Resin Sprayers: The antennae become the nozzles for this weapon, which sprays high-explosive resin. With proper nozzle adjustment, he can spit it quite far, about thirty feet, or spray it in a wide arc in front of him. It detonates shortly after leaving the nozzle or on a deliberate signal from his broadcast systems. Like the grenade launcher, he has limited ammunition for this weapon and takes time to make more.

    • Reconfigurable Grenade Launcher: Stored on the right side of his abdomen, this weapon fires specialized microgrenades. Given time, it can also reconfigure them into any kind of grenade it can fire, but this takes a lot of time, at least 10 minutes per grenade and more for particularly complex types. It also has limited ammunition until the internal nanofactory can make more from raw materials.

  • Other Gadets:

    • Rocket Thrusters: These are stored under his upper carapace on his back, they unfold like stubby wings when he transforms.

    • Blast Point Deep Scanner: This advanced scanning tool is built into Blastproof's chassis and optics and can perform a deep scan of any solid substance within a fifty foot radius or a hundred foot cone. It analyzes the composition and shape of the material and calculates weak and strong points to a high degree of accuracy, letting him know exactly where to hit something so that it falls apart. It works on bots too, if they remain in the same relative position for a few seconds or he can track them with it, but mostly on their armor and internal framework.

Please let me know if, as I suspect, I went overboard with weaponry or anything else. It's a little hard for me to judge. My idea was that the weapons would be relatively powerful for handheld firearms but limited in ammunition and I'm not sure how much is fair.

  • Name: Backlash
  • Faction: Predacon
  • Gender: Male
  • Function: Scout & Saboteur
  • Personality: At his core Backlash is the very model of a mercenary, with an overclocked killer instinct and a genuine taste for deadly violence. He doesn't mind the death and destruction that his work brings - he actually finds it pleasant, since it allows him to do what he does best. Despite this he does have some level of a moral compass. Although he readily admits that he’s done “some very bad things” during his long career, Backlash responds with surprising aversion to some of the evils he sees in his work, especially those perpetrated by his crueler compatriots. He often speaks calmly and matter-of-fact with others, both on and off the field, but is quite sociable with his comrades when he is not "on the clock", however due to his single red eye it is incredibly difficult to gauge his emotional status when in his robot mode. Backlash does his best work under cover of night, relishing tracking down his targets while cloaked. Once he has his effectively disabled his target, Backlash prefers to call in the rest of his fellow Predacons to help finish the job.
  • Beast Mode: Titanis walleri
  • Appearance: In his robot he retains the legs of his beast mode as his legs. His body shifts into an upright position, splitting open and expanding, moving his wings to his shoulders. The head of his beast mode folds into his chest, while his neck splits and forms into his arms. His head in robot mode is hexagon shaped with a single red eye on it with no other distinguishing features.
  • Weapons:
    • Null-ray Rifle: A custom created rifle re-purposing the normally wrist-mounted null-ray into a handheld rifle that is stored within his back. Like the standard null-ray it is capable of stopping any electrical device with one shot, but with the added benefit of an extended range of fire.
    • Bombs: Small explosive devices that can be attached to an object, or to a bot, or even thrown if the situation calls for it. These are stored within his right leg.
    • Combat Knife: A simple Cybertronian knife that is stored within the side of his left leg.
  • Other gadgets:
    • Cloaking device: A device that refracts the light surrounding Backlash, rendering him invisible. The effect lasts up to five minutes, afterwards it requires a recharge period in order to be used again.
    • Scout drones: A trio of small drones modeled after the insect modes of the Insecticon warriors Shrapnel, Bombshell, and Kickback of the Great War that are kept within Backlash's chest. They are not meant for combat, rather they are used for recon of locations Backlash would not be readily be able to reach and relay information back to him. Due to their small size this makes them ideal for scouting guarded areas as they can pass by unnoticed.

Alright, finished here. Let me know if something needs to change.

Only thing I can think of is that the cloaking device should have a recharge timer - something like three to five minutes of invisibility followed by a recharge period.

Other than that, it should be good.

Alright, so to flesh out the numbers a little bit, you can create a second profile for a member of the opposite faction. It's optional; if you're happy with/feel like you can only handle one character then feel free to do so.

I'll also roll up two GM PCs, although they'll mostly be "mission control" types and probably won't see a lot of action in the field.

Please note I intend to post a Predacon, I'm just having trouble with her a bit. Namely it's that when I made the original version, she was a Transmetal with 3 overall modes. I'm still working on redesigning her. That said, it's fine if I still submit her, correct?

...It's weird having so many websites and no way to properly display now, lol.

Hey guys, the RP will probably be going up Friday night or Saturday morning, depending on my schedule. In the meantime...

  • Name: Framework
  • Faction: Maximal
  • Function: Communications and base technician
  • Gender: Male
  • Beast Mode: Ring-tailed lemur
  • Personality: An excitable techie, Framework’s spent most of his short career within the Maximal military as one of the many anonymous gearheads laboring on various ground bases under the direction of more experienced field commanders. This is his first assignment off Cybertron, and Framework’s determined not to screw it up. Mostly , he’s happy to work behind the scenes, directing communications or acting as base defense. This is good, because he’s not a particularly skilled fighter by any means.
  • Appearance: In robot mode, Framework’s beast mode arms become his robot mode legs. His beast mode head splits in half and folds around his central chest armor, while his robot mode arms unfold from the stomach of the lemur. His beast mode legs flip up and compress to become shoulderpads. His armor is predominantly silver, with red highlights.
  • 'Weapons:
    • Framework carries a long-barreled scope rifle that forms out of half of his beast mode tail.
    • For close combat purposes, he carries an electrified bo staff; the hilt forms from the other half of his tail.
  • Other gadgets
    • Framework carries a built-in toolkit containing a selection of basic repair equipment and a computer diagnosis kit; these store in a panel on his left arm.
    • He sports a pair of jump jets; although he can’t fly for prolonged periods, he can use them to make long leaps or slow his descent from high places.

  • Name: Uplink
  • Faction: Predacon
  • Function: Communications and encryption specialist.
  • Gender: Female
  • Beast Mode: Rhamphorhynchus
  • Personality: A criminal on Cybertron, Uplink grew up in the slums of Nova Cronum, where she quickly learned the value of self-reliance and independent thinking. Graduating from petty larceny to fraud, she quickly became a master hacker and coding specialist, and from there she became a mercenary specializing in security– she’s very much in it for the shanix. That said, she recognizes the value of teamwork... because if her comrades go down, then it’s not like she’ll be able to finish the job as easily.
  • Appearance: Uplink’s beast mode wings flip onto her back, where they’re augmented by a built-in rocket engine. Her lower beak becomes a spiky chestplate, while the top of her beast mode splits to become a pair of shoulderpads. Her beast mode legs extend into arms, and her legs and head telescope out from her belly. Her face is mostly concealed by a mouthplate. While her beast mode is black and white, her robot armor is primarily purple.
  • Weapons:
    • Her main weapons are the wrist-mounted blasters, which fire long-rage pulses of energy.
    • She carries a pistol for closer encounters, although it’s not as powerful.
  • Other gadgets:
    • Uplink carries a built-in jamming device that can temporarily deaden enemy communications in an area for several minutes while she works.

Both characters will probably spend 60-70% of their time in and around their respective bases, unless they’re really needed elsewhere. Think of them as mission control type characters, so that you guys don’t have to stay behind (unless you want to).

Well, if it'll help, I'm willing to create a Maximal if two of the players on that team will make Predacons, so the numbers will be even. Or if Irene submits her character, then just one person on the other team could do that. Whatever works for you.
