A platypus Pokémon would be cute though...
ppppppppfeiufiofuiorjfadkfbnjkdflaosigjbkghuiafjkldjnbaghkdI want a tapeworm. They give me a tapeworm and they prove they can make anything cute.
To be honest I want a cute blobfish haha
ppppppppfeiufiofuiorjfadkfbnjkdflaosigjbkghuiafjkldjnbaghkdI'd ask for a roach too re: making anything cute but Wall-E beat them there.
Isn't Psyduck sort of a platypus according to some people?
New Pokemon really don't add much to the singleplayer battles though, since the AI rarely takes advantage of the new Pokemon's abilities. And since the vast majority of your time in Pokemon is spent battling, I think newer and improved mechanics would do more for a better game. Don't get me wrong though, I like new Pokemon. But I'd gladly take only a handful in exchange for new stuff.
And if there's an animal that needs a Pokemon, it's the llama/alpaca. They're cute, fluffy, full of personality and you can even give it it's own spit-based attack.
The AI rarely takes advantage of the new mechanics as well

Speaking of number of pokémon and catching them all, you don't need to catch over 700 pokémon considering that many of them evolve.
You don't go and catch a Goomy, Sliggoo and Goodra, you just catch a Goomy and evolve it twice.
Heck, you could kind of count evolution lines as "one pokémon" despite that they take up two or more spots on the Pokédex. Well, except Eeveelutions, since you need multiple Eevees. Or other odd cases like Gallade and Gardevoir.
Normal/Poison?
My workaround for the number of Pokémon is to have one of every kind and just trade them up each Gen. I finally manged to do that in XY so now I just have to transfer then all up to future games and catch the new ones.
See the solution would be to improve the AI and add a good number of new pokemon/mechanics. It shouldn't be a matter of A or B.
I still can't believe salamit exists. It's so satisfying to finally have a poison/fire type. That avatar makes it look like i's going to evolve into a komodo dragon.
A number of people (including myself) have been speculating about that. I think chances are good personally, it's possible Salandit will be stand-alone or its evolution will go in a different direction but the possibility definitely seems plausible.
Well Komodos are known for having corrosive bites...
And a Komodo Dragon-based Pokemon would be Badass. Though it doesn't really fit with the Hawaiian theme.
"YOU SHALL FEEL THE FLOWER'S WRATH"Well, neither does the Koala. May just be Pacific Islands in general.
samurai don't fit the American theme, but samurott...
Not every Pokemon has to be a reference to the real world location the games are based on.
For a second there I misread PWC as PWT. I was so excited.

@Yamii
YES
So what has been said about Pokemon's level of sapience/intelligence in the games? Most seem to be much smarter than their corresponding real life animals - at least great ape/cetacean level for most, with some at human level or smarter - but ha anything been definitively stated?

Each and everyone is capable of understanding commands of huan speech, and have all shown almost human levels of sentience. And if we take the sinnoh library word for word, Pokemon could be married and used to all be capable of human speech.
In addition, from the few people who can understand pokemon, their thoughts and conversations might as well be those of any other humans

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!
That's pretty pointless waiting.
