Well Episode 9 was incredibly Ghost in the Shell like with some good action at the end. Things are definitely moving towards a finale.

When I first started out with this show I was expecting something more along the lines of Yuru Yuri or GochiUsa, I wasn't expecting... that.

Not that I'm complaining, of course.

Also the Pandoradio segments are great, especially the one where Nene begins ranting about Monster Bash 4

It hasn't been quite what I expected from a series written by the creator of Excel Saga, but it's been fun so far.

Wait

How does an AI have a gender? How do you determine gender without biological chromosomes? What would even be the point of a gendered AI?

Is this even yuri? I don't understand

America is an empire now? I mean, like, openly?

So Clarion finally got that mobile armour from the OP

Well, that was fun

It's a Masamune Shirow work, parts of America are always an empire in it. It always collapses into 3 countries with much of the south declaring itself the American Empire.

I forgot, why is Buer so important? Aside from its ability to blow up a lot of stuff.

Big stick syndrome. While likely Uzal just made it as an over-engineered piece of machinery, our opportunistic Kurtz sees it as a means to get "world peace"... except as defined by his bosses.

Speaking of his bosses, have we encountered the American Imperial forces before in the Ghost In The Shell canon?

We saw 1 Empire CIA agent in SAC and the nuke in 2nd GIG was launched from the Empire.

Cat prince Cla-ring. Just when you thought Nene couldn't be more subtle about her crush.

"Subtle". I don't think that word means what you think it means.

Can't wait to see Nene save the day next episode.

You'd think the villains would be more worried right now, considering the things that those two have done individually

I almost feel bad for Mr. Big Bad after Nene and Clarion were too busy making googly eyes at each other to listen to his Motive Rant. And Clarion being all smug and proud talking about how losing an arm didn't hurt and how she was going to protect Nene in the Pandoradio segment was hella cute.

Also those blushes on the henchmen after witnessing everyone's favorite transformation sequence.

The Takumi/BUER cyber fight was hilarious.

Aw, even her own crew stops her introduction short.tongue Speaking of, how come the Gerts were helping her out all of a sudden?[lol]

Sorry Kurtz, Nene can't afford to waste time listening to your dribble. And that cyborg's name's Fear? Heh, you don't know that true fear stands before you.

The representative German is Yuu-chan. Of course

"The legs are just for show". Kurtz seems to think he's in a Gundam series

So, the finale was alright. Some neat moments, but also some dumb ones. Kind of a microcosm of the whole thing

Series overall: The main strength was Nene and Clarion— They were likable and had a surprisingly genuine-feeling relationship. Downside: The only other character that was particularly likable was Uzal, with the others ranging from tolerable (Takumi-chan) to obnoxious (Vli, Buer). Setting was unusual, which is nice, but didn't get much focus. The lewdness of the transformation sequence was odd given for clean the show is otherwise. So, I think I'd recommend this to yuri fans, and only yuri fans

Thigh shots. His ambition was stopped by thigh shots. in fact, he(and Takumi) was nowhere near the core. Epic fail to the max.[lol]

Of course, BUER had a meltdown, so things were still doomed. No worries though, since Nene got this. And look, a crimson shell.

Really glad for Bunny and her pals. Escaped with no arrests this time. Now they're under Takumi's care. ...Well, they're the ones doing the caring. But hey, a lot better than being in jail.tongue

So...a machine with a Wave Motion Gun was just an experiment. Uzal, you crazy scientist.tongue

Her name continues to elude me, even though she finally got her scoop.[lol]

So yeah, fun show. ClariNe is awesome.

Not only that, but it was only phase one of an experiment. That could mean anything at this point, but it looks like that Nene and Clarion's future will be... exciting, to say the least.

Poor poor Kurtz, that breakdown.

And man, they never DID confirm whether or not Uzal is alive or actually dead. I'm kind of thinking about a Ghost In The Shell "my mind is in cyberspace anyhow!" situation here.

[up]We saw her (living) body at the end, probably...

Anyway, great anime! Nene and Claring are so in love! Buer is so funny! Takumi is too! All the side characters are so kind and good! Uzal is...mysterious! Can we get a season 2?? I should read the manga! Nene is right, there's nothing wrong with liking thighs! I'm so glad all three of them got a happy ending.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

Considering this sold <1000 units in Japan, I wouldn't count on it. Fuck Japan and their eternally shit taste, first Houkago no Pleiades and now this.

If it helps, there isn't enough material for an S2 and probably won't be for a while, anyway. At least the manga is being released in America, I saw the first two volumes at Anime Boston but decided to pass them up for two omnibus volumes of Girl Friends.

The final episode took up part of book 8, the last compilation volume out so far, so no, had it sold better it still wouldn't have material.

[up][up]I was at Anime Boston and didn't see them...sad Well, I wasn't really looking for manga.

But Amazon has em.

Also I am extremely excited that they are making a Clarion nendoroid. I hope they make Nene one too. grin

[up]That's good though, if the series is pretty much complete as-is.
