What a tweest
Dressed to Kill. And apparently the third book goes back to the previous setup :V
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. That second novel...
Just reading that gave me a shave from the edge. The fuck?
I been following this anime, but i just haven't been on this thread. I already post my reactions in two other places so I felt satisfied. :)
@Shlugo- that has actually been used◊ on Sound Euphonium too, which just happens to be the proceeder of this show. However, those times, the different colors were on the TOPS of their eyes, not beneath them.

Episode 12: Someone got popular. Ah the wonders of level grinding.
A phantom that is actually dangerous and malicious? That's new.
Power stealing is a common way to make your villain very hax.
Enigma disappears, Haruhiko mother shows up. Totally not suspicious.
Aww, Haruhiko was so happy his mother came back. What a shame it can't be real.
Me: That's a Phantom.
Ruru: That's a Phantom.
Haruhiko: Nah, can't be a Phantom.
In the end: That's a Phantom.
The dinner scene was as hilarious as one would expect. Haruhiko literally changed art-style when asked which one he likes. And the girls answers were super outrageous.
And then comes the gut punch. And I don't mean just the one Mai got. Poor Haruhiko, even when they defeat Enigma it won't change the fact that she waved happines in front of him and then yanked it away cruelly. He will be heartbroken.
Ruru is out cold? Is it because Haruhiko lost his powers? Was she also one of Phantoms created by him?
Whew, what an episode, the finale is set up to be intense.
Yeah, it seems to be a stylistic choice they are fond off, and this time they used it to signify Phantoms visually.
re Book 3: Its set in between Books 1 and 2, before the time Haruhiko "failed" to do what he was supposed to.
So wow, Enigma was quite the vindictive bitch. She could have done what she did using just about any other method but instead chose to do that.
Also regarding the spoilers for the novels: seriously, what the fuck? I mean, I'd say that it takes some chutzpah to do that, but it also seems rather mean spirited, to an extent.
I would also surely break and grip onto the fantasy if my lost, enstranged mom returned to lovingly live with me again.
Being popular is something Koito needs to get used to.
Enigma is a non-fatal Sylar.
I know Koito has helped them out from time to time, but I, like, Mai, didn't think she was actually on the team. ...Then again, eating together with everyone last episode should've sealed that deal.
Haruhiko... Not only did he lose his ability, he may have to come to terms with the fact that his mom probably never had him on her mind for one second. Well, they could have a long nice talk about that...
Ruru's life is actually on the line now. Eep.
So...that Book 2, eh? That's one nasty curveball. And what of Kurumi? Unless she's anime original like Ruru. But I suppose it doesn't matter if she's in the novel or not. She'd be dead either way...
Should we launch a page for this show/light novel
Episode 13: Finale
So yeah, The corporation was behind everything, Albrecht is a hacker, Ruru is Haruhiko twin, the girls kicked ass, Haruhiko regained his abilities, and made up with his mother for real. All well that ends well, and this was an awesome episode.
So, that's Phantom world. It was... amazing ride, it was both stupid and cerebral, silly and heartwarming and most of all it was fun. The anime was like a festival, lively and colorful. The character were great and it looked absolutely stunning. Very glad I picked it up. KyoAni delivers again.
There is a page for the show though, isn't there? It's just under the English title Myriad Colors Phantom World
Anyways, having seen this, I'm guessing that based upon the rather spoilerific talk earlier in this thread that the anime diverged wildly from the novels?
It's a KA Esuma Bunko-based work, so yes, it did diverge a bit — the plot of book 1 was episodes 1-2 and 12-13, minus Ruru.
And we're missing the part where Haruhiko wakes up from the Phantom World, and faces the bleak real world again.

Welp, that episode ended exactly how I figured. Not much else to say, decent series. Kept me entertained.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Was I missing something or was that his mothers' BODY that Enigma took over? Not just Enigma in a disguise she made herself? (GREAT villainess name, btw!) Also, Ruru being Haruhiko's twin was said kind of half-serious. I'm sure she's more like his imaginary friend materialized.
Overall, not a great anime at all. The Animation was the best part about it. I half feel like Kyoani was pretty much convinced into adapting this seeing as how the light novel was made for their contest, the same contest Free! came from. I wish they would spend their much precious resources and money for something of quality next time, as they do NOT produce near the amount of anime other studios do! I swear, you could watch the first 2 episodes and the last 2 episodes and miss almost NOTHING.

Episode 13. In which they had fun.
She helps out there. How convenient. Then they don't need to introduce a new character.
Suddenly, hacker. Also, Eye Pop.
It wouldn't really work to have them as pharmaceutical test subjects. I'm pretty sure their biology has a lot of different aspects to it that would make such tests unreliable.
He really expected to get away with going in alone?
There are more ridiculous ways to drag out the tension, but that's really pushing it.
They look slightly more badass now.
Mauve Shirts can't steal him from the main characters. Even if there are three of them.
Check out my fanfiction!People are calling out the so-called spoilers as 'fake'.
Wait, if it was episodes 12 and 13 minus Ruru then how the hell did Haruhiko get his powers back?
Kyoani themselves publishes the novel alongside Beyond The Boundary and Chuuniboyu, why wouldn't they make it? They make all the money from it.
So umm the OAV that's been announced got a trailer... censoring phantom that makes things dirtier than they appear?
How does the first novel end btw? I know Enigma was filler and strikingly similar to book 2 in premise.

Yeah, I've heard that as well, and seeing as they apparently came from 4chan that wouldn't be all that surprising.
Aww yeah, a fanservice OVA!
And yes, Enigma seems based on Rupa.
Book 3. Which is set IN BETWEEN books 1 and 2.

An unsourced wiki article isn't any better than any random forum post tho.
Episode 12. In which there's a return.
Koito's such a people-person.
So, three redshirts walk into an alley... Totally not stereotypically looking.
That sure sounds like a typical end-season enemy to face.
Hey, those girls. Moving up from red to mauve shirts.
Oh, hey, that's a complete Ass Pull. Koito did something useful.
The typical "twist" would be that there's one new character introduced.
Well, there is a resemblance.
Sunflower seeds are edible? Hadn't noticed. And it's totally not what I'm munching on at this very moment.
Such a safe question to ask with them all sitting around to clearly hear everything.
So that's how it worked. Well, not entirely surprising.
That trope is hated for a reason.
