I think the update broke the mines, I can no longer retrieve coal from carts or bags.

They still work fine for me. Are you playing on something other than a PC?

I'm on PC. My sword/axe/pickaxe just go straight through without doing anything.

Have you tried right clicking on them instead of using a tool? That's what works for me.

Isn't clicking them what you always did to get the coal? Though I feel like there's only a certain amount of them in total throughout the game.

There's a few carts and one bag, I think.

It's not a huge problem. I have never been short on coal in my first playthrough.

Bags appear when there are no tracks in the mine type.

On a different note, the new stuff in 1.5 is pretty great, and the Perfection cutscene is - appropriately - a perfect topper.

Okay, what gives? I do one of those special missions, which says there is a surplus of flounders, so I fish for two days straight, and I don't catch a single flounder. Not even one. This mission feels broken. I had the same issue with a mission for finding leeks. Suddenly, there's nary a leek to be found on the map.

I dunno if it's related, but my farm cave seems to be bugged. After having it for about a month, fruit has only spawned three times. So I might actually have to buy apple and pomegranate trees if I want to get year one community center done.

Though I'll probably miss seeing red cabbages at the traveling merchant anyway. Supposedly they're guaranteed to appear at least once in the first year but I'm pretty bad about remembering to visit it.

I've discovered the problem with these new special quests: their time limits are set for the end of the week, no matter what day you start them on.

Yeah, I noticed that. I also don't like that there's no way to cycle through the quests to get one you want; the "gather leeks" quest can only be done in Spring, but it's not showing up and Spring is rapidly passing by, which means I probably can't get the coffee maker for another year (without cheating, but I will totally cheat, of course, so Harvey can have his coffee every morning).

Guys, is there a way to repaint your chicken? The little buggers are brown and get lost in a patch of grass in front of the coop when I want to pet them. Same goes for the truffles.

Spiral out, keep going.

It would help if the animals were layered on top of the grass to begin with, or at least were a bit higher than the grass.

Also, it would be nice if I could sell or toss out duplicate weapons without being forced to go to the warrior shop thingy.

I don't know about recoloring your chickens, but I got a mod that turned grass semi transparent so I could find my animals and truffles.

[up][up]Tell me about it. Never expected to pixel hunt in a farming simulator. :D

[up]Is it on Steam Workshop? How is it called?

Not as annoying as spending several winters looking for artefact spots for a final artefact.

Better grass visibility. Right here, hasn't been updated but I've seen no compatibility issues or even warnings from smapi about it.

One of the new island's missions consists of growing three crops in order, from three different seasons... in reverse order. First a fall crop, then a summer crop, then a spring crop.

Okay, Concerned Ape, that's just mean. Talk about Guide Dang It!. grin

Oh. I guess I can actually go to the new island now can't I? I found some red cabbage seeds in skull cavern so I managed to complete the CC midwinter.

It's an interesting island, though I'm not sure how I'm going to complete the volcano's 10 levels in one go.

I also noticed the island has a rather more mystical feel to it.

I guess I should head over before spring starts and I get busy with my slave run coffee plantation. One person could not possibly take care of the amount of coffee I will plant, so there must be slaves behind the scenes somewhere.

On a related note I wish Junimos worked better. Hops turned into a better cash crop than I expected. With enough kegs to process them aren't they more profitable than ancient fruit? But trellis crops are a pain. Or I could use the tractor for harvesting perhaps.

Tractor? Where?

Junimos can harvest unreachable trellises, so that may actually be better than it sounds.

Yeah hence me lamenting that I wish they were better because they're actually pretty inefficient. You can't leave everything to them.

Tractor mod. It's a late game building/ride combo that lets you work faster by using your tools at a quick pace in a radius around you. Also using fertilizer and planting crops. It basically functions as a slower horse that does work around you. In this case it's mostly just for planting and harvesting since I'll have plenty of iridium sprinklers given that I had a stormy year.

The Better Junimos mod lets you tweak how they work a bit - have you tried it out?
