As the title says I've had an idea for a character that is a evil God of mercy and judgement.

Here's what I have for his backstory: The world is cruel. After all would a kind world tearaway up a young one from his home his family his friends and then forget them?

No no it wouldn't the so-called forces of good only delay and cause more suffering not helping that shall be fixed and all will face my judgment my mercy. But I don't know where else to go over any help or tips

I've got a tip for you: Punctuation marks. Use them. Please. Because that run-on sentence is unreadable.

Well, the judgement portion is relatively easy, if this god (being evil) doesn't consider exergent circumstances or the greater good or intent or even the sum total of ones actions (i.e. only focusing on infractions of whatever cosmic law is in place, not whether one's good actions compensate for the bad).

You could even steal a little from Norse mythology and allow other (presumably good) gods and goddesses to "claim" those whose actions meet their standards, with only the unclaimed receiving the "evils of judgement".

Mercy, in the conventional sense, is harder, being as it is generally considered a virtue one wishes to receive. Of course, if the evil god is calling itself "of judgement and mercy", it could be nihilistic, in the vein of "The world is horrible, so I'll do the merciful thing and put them all out of their misery, by killing them all".

P.S. I agree with Pwiegle. Please edit your post to include punctuation.

Mercy requires a power disparity, and needn't be very nice.

If I have the power to kill you and your entire family, and I just kill them instead of you, I am being merciful.

Mercy doesn't require that you be a nice person, just that you spare someone of something when you have them in your power.

Well, I think that it would also be good to add some Orange/Blue Morality Spectrum to this. I mean, if mercy is just "Release from pain," then killing everyone would be a good choice. If it is "Release from death," then its something completely different, where this god could let a person live, even after he puts them through horrifying torture for a deed said person has done. Heck, he could even say that he hopes that people keep on making mistakes just so that he could judge them and then punish them.

in that case, more than Evil, he will be really, really un pleasent, like how hares was for ancient greek, maybe someone who can see all your past actions and thought so you coundt fool him, just somes ideas.

The name "Satan" literally means "prosecutor" so, the judgement part actually somewhat works. As for mercy... you could try punishing people in really ironic ways.

You could also make some kind of Knight Templar deity who believes they're right (and in a way, they kind of are when you think about it) and promptly judges all of mankind's sins, with the divine right to do so, and then see what happens when you disprove their place.

Sorry if I just performed thread necromancy
