I poster the image I think is best for the page [[ quoteright :257 :https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/undertale nightmare fuel submission1.png ]] [[ caption-width-right :257 :some caption text ]] It's the image of the Reaper Bird amalgamate's appearance. I'm just gonna leave it here for you guys to decide to use it since I don't pop in enough to keep up. (Just remove the spaces if you guys decide to use it)

15.1 with Flowey seems like a good one to me. It's got Nightmare Face, and since Flowey reveals himself as a bastard right at the start, knowing that he'll make worse faces later isn't a huge spoiler. The image also works well on its own.

E.g. the Amalgamate coming out of the sink is pretty bad in context, because you're in an abandoned underground lab with a broken elevator, you've been reading bits of an Apocalyptic Log, and you've been in there long enough that bad things are overdue to happen. Also, it makes an unnerving laugh when it appears. But it's hard to capture a Jump Scare in a static image, so it can come across as "it's a smiling cloud?" to the unfamiliar.

Flowey's face, though, is coming apart at the seams, and that's not a happy smile. I think it works.

...that's not a happy smile.
I'd imagine saying a line like "I knew you had it in you!", in reference to finally breaking your Thou Shalt Not Kill stance up to that point because Flowey's just that big of a threat, is very much a happy smile.

Would Sans's Game Face count as a spoiler? Because You'd be dead where you stand. would be a good one.

[up] I'd consider it spoilers; it reveals a lot about Sans that you wouldn't necessarily expect from seeing him in Snowdin.

The mushroom's not all that creepy, just a strange Nonsequitur in a skippable "village". Probably not enough to be considered NF.

At this point, it may be a good idea to just tack in "But nobody came." or something of the like.

I was thinking about suggesting this, but if this doesn't work, I would be okay with 15.4.

[up] I still think the face isn't particularly explicit, but an image of what it's a face for probably is.

(Yes, I know I suggested an image of this exact thing before. I'm going to side with rodney's reason for shooting it down.)

I don't think that can spoil anything, though.

For those of you who played the game, I don't think anyone before that boss fight can possibly make a connection with that and the character in question.

[up] We can't assume people have played the game. And the mere presence of something like that in the game is a spoiler. (Also, I'd argue that between the vines and the fact that there's nobody else in the game that's obviously evil, it's fairly clear who that would be if it's anybody.)

Honestly we should just put up a crowner at this point, with the expectation that there might not be a winner.

People who don't play wouldn't know that it's a spoiler anyway so your point is irrelevant.

Also, the character in question isn't any more obviously evil than the other characters, and nobody in that game goes through such a drastic image change like that either, so it's hard to imagine the image and think of the character in question.

How much earlier would you figure it out if you do play the game and you have seen the image? Assuming you don't know anything beforehand, that is.

I think this assertion that it's not a spoiler is a little naive, considering even something as innocent as "so what kind of run are ya doin'?" can spoil the nature of the game to somebody going in blind.

Also, the character in question isn't any more obviously evil than the other characters
Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong. That character is far and away the most evil character in the game other than the Fallen Child, and ignoring his true nature and Heel–Face Turn at the end of a True Pacifist run, and the game makes a point of highlighting it.

I didn't say he wasn't evil, I just said he wasn't more obviously evil.

Also, it's not like it's the only boss fight in the game.

Except... he kind of is more obviously evil than everyone else? Like, everyone else gets a fair bit of exposition on their motivations: Papyrus wants to capture you because he's desperate for adoration (or just a friend, really); Undyne wants to kill you and take your SOUL so monsters can go free; Mettaton wants to kill you to stop a war between monsters and humans from breaking out; King Asgore doesn't want to kill you but is in the unenviable position of being forced to do it, lest he let his constituents' hopes drop to nothing. Comparatively, that character is literally For the Evulz, and doesn't really get deeper than that outside of the Pacifist ending, again.

Whether he is or not, I don't think there's not enough connection to that character and that image.

It barely resembles a flower without a closer look and whoever look at the image is more likely to focus on the eyes and the television screen, which displays something that looks nothing like the character.

Considering the mass of arguments of whether it's a spoiler, I think the safe option is to just not use it. There are obviously people who think it's a spoiler, and when it comes to spoiler, we usually err on the side of caution.
