I don't really think we need a seperate thread for the show, but oh well.
I'm excited too! Especially for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
Every other MCU series has its own thread by now, I don't see why this should be any exception.
Anyway, it'll be interesting to see what kind of role Luke Cage plays within the narrative. And will he have his powers right from the start, or will he acquire them at some point within the story?
Love the look of the show, at any rate. I wonder where Jessica is going to fall on the Super Weight scale here. Will her powers be more suited for street-level business, or will she be full-on Avengers material? (The former is probably better suited for a TV series, admittedly.)
"We'll take the next chance, and the next, until we win, or the chances are spent."She says that she can stop a slow-moving car, so yeah, probably street level. Not that she hasn't fought her share of supervillains in the comics, but this seems closer to her original series, from what I can tell.
Oh God! Natural light!Almost feels like MCU is issuing a challenge to Ledger's Joker (or my hype is inflating).
I get the feeling she's stronger than that but is way too scared to go 100 percent like she used to. I can imagine she tried with all her might to dial back her power while under Kilgrave's control, and those mental blocks have stuck with her ever since.

They're not making Kilgrave? BLASPHEMY.
Looks interesting. Too bad I don't have a Netflix account.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!They...are making Kilgrave, though. I assume you meant that they are not making him purple. But it looks like they call him the Purple Man because he wears purple suits.
Yeah, that's what I meant. Accidentally left out a word.

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! His power seems to have hallucinatory effects. Maybe he does in fact appear purple to his victims depending on how strong his hold on them is.

David Tennant looks positively terrifying. I'm so stoked ^^
Sorry double post ^^
I've been looking at some early reviews for Jessica Jones, and not only are the vast majority positive, they're outright glowing. A lot of the reviewers said that they thought Jessica Jones was better than Daredevil, which is quite the achievement.
I'm certainly excited for the show to come out this week
Damn. That's some high praise.
I'm guessing they couldn't use the name Alias because there is already a series by that name.

The original Alias TV series was on ABC, which is owned by Disney. So it's probably less a case of couldn't a more a case of trying to avoid any confusion on the part of the viewer.
Plus it might of been a case of keeping the naming conventions of the Netflix series consistent. All the solo series are named after the main character, so Jessica Jones's should be too.
I'm excited for this. I've managed to remain unspoiled so far so I can't wait to see this.
How do you know this? And should you really be tossing around stuff like that before the show has premiered?
Oh God! Natural light!Yeah, if you know spoilers, why aren't you using, you know, spoiler tags.

It might be a good thing that they put her name in the title. Makes it better known. Plus, it fits into the pattern.
I try not to read the reviews. I have seen enough, I know I will watch it, so now I want to go in blind.
I wonder if they deliberately placed the show at this date so that I can survive one week without Ao S better....
LESS THAN 8 HOURS TO GO!
Everyone, get ready to be creeped out by the color purple for the rest of your life!
I'll only have enough time to watch a single episode before I go into work, but I'm sure I'll finish my first viewing before the weekend is over.
Yeah, looks like its out now.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobAnd here I bookmark this post for reading the thread later, after I catch up on JJ... after I catch up on Agents of SHIELD... after I finish off Daredevil...
I need more hours in the day and less wandering attention, dammit.

Jessica Jones will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Netflix original series, set to premiere on November 20th. It seems to be taking a very dark look at the story, with a sort of superhero-noir tone and plenty of PTSD for all. And yes, it will have Luke Cage.
And it's going to be starring David Tennant as the Purple Man.
I am so there.
