Supposedly the pair "grew up" according to Nooroo, but if my theory is correct, yes they're just overriding it. We've now seen the possible advantages of the adult powers, maybe in Season 6 we may see a downside.
Eh, the "adult" explanation has been referenced several times throughout the series while the "lockout" thing just suddenly came up in the new special, so I'd expect the former to apply more than the later. Them resisting the timeout was played as a big emotional moment, so it'd feel pretty cheap to just go back on that.
So weird realization there is five seasons of the show huh.
Like I haven't really watched show in long time and my only familiarity with it nowadays is that it keeps getting youtube hate videos x'D

I still remember couple years ago what seemed to be videos recommended by youtube from teenage fan of series(judging by mike quality and overall commentary) where the recomended youtube episode titles from the channel got steadily more negative ![[lol]](https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lol2v12_4863.png "[lol]"){kind=small}
The video I actually checked out seemed to be basically "this fan theory is stupid, no way it will be real, that would be so dumb writing" and I think the theory being confirmed was part of channel maker's opinion dive xD
(note: theory they dismissed as stupid was Gabriel being Hawk Moth. Something about shape of jaw :p Yeah this was before season 3 which got the most complaints)

I got into the fandom a bit late, so did people really think Gabe wasn't Hawkmoth? The series wasn't exactly subtle about it.

It’s a good twist not because it’s obvious but what it brings to the table for the characters and plot.
If Hawk Moth wasn’t Gabriel, then the series would lose a lot of what makes it enjoyable.

Talking about that, I happened to rewatch recently Simon Says, the season 1 episode that dropped the first (rather heavy) hints about who Hawkmoth was, and I really wonder what his plan in this episode was (it seems on the lines of 1. Let the akumatized villain target Gabriel 2.??? 3. Steal the Miraculous).
It's also interesting in that episode to see Gabriel comment to Ladybug how perfect Adrien is, with the Senti-Adrien theory in mind (haven't watched Season 5, but I always considered that one ridiculous until I watched Wishmaster and Ephemeral).

If you look at the WMG pages on here, you'll see that most people did indeed think that Gabriel was Hawk Moth the whole time, but it wasn't 100%. The jaw thing does indeed come up, as do a few more minor things. Of course, we later learned that transformation can notably alter your physical form, and that Gabriel can transform back and forth without disrupting the Akuma, which largely explains all that.
Simon Says was the point where it was obvious to me. It was the first time we'd ever seen Hawk Moth walk into his lair from someone else, and in that episode we stop hearing from him after Gabriel shows back up.

Yeah it's a very Amazing Spider-Man 37 issue, where we get clear hints on who the mysterious supervillain with the secret identity is by focusing on the civilian aspect of the character.
Hawk Moth is very much a Green Goblin inspired character much like how Ladybug is basically magical girl Spider-Man.

Yeah with a touch of the primary Hobgoblin given Mr. Agrest's occupation. And it's hard to believe two villains not only had that job, but there’s two Moth themed villains.

It's funny because when I first saw the show, I thought Gabriel had more businesses and fashion was just his biggest one. The guy is rich enough to afford nuclear equipment and an elaborate underground base. I guess fashion designers with their own brand can get that kind of cash in France.

Miraculous France is a very particular country (for starters, Paris seems to contain around 1000 inhabitants). Then again, it's a world where the president of the USA is a superhero, so no big surprise here.

We can probably reason that Gabriel has hands in a number of related ventures, as the brand seems to produce a reasonably wide range of items and not just clothing.

Yeah Gabriel even goes into the tech business with the Alliance rings. Sure some of that tech came from Kagami's mom, but he was the one leading the venture.

The release date for the Miraculous projects has always been all over the place, I genuinely wonder what's going on behind the scenes.

If I had to guess, madness and anarchy as people get into shouting matches with Austruc over how to handle Chole and Lyla and when to rip the bandage off regarding the love square.
@Discar: The specific channel/video I was thinking of was REALLY insistent on that it can't be same person and that it wouldn't make sense and would be bad writing and whatever xD
(I can't remember it was one of those "it would be too obvious so it has to be red herring" self contradictions, but again, the youtuber was convinced on things like "jawline" not matching up with him in mask :P )
Am I the only who felt heavy romantic context when Ryukomori started reminiscing about the time she befriended Marinette ? Also the end of Protection when she said that she loves both Adrien and Marinette and that's why their love hurts her so much 👀.

No. I get a similar vibe from Nathalie, I think she was in love with both halves of the Agreste couple.
I caught up with the second half of the season and I did like it but I was frustrated by the treatment of Kim. He was shown to be a bully but it was also shown that he wasn't so bad (mocking other students and the like but nothing too horrible) and that he had moved past that and was now on friendly terms with the rest of the class. Now there's an episode that makes him much worse and then the show pretends it never happened and he goes back to being everyone's friend again. Felix got the opposite treatment and is now a tortured anti-hero now instead of a total asshole. I'm fine with that because I like tortured anti-heroes but it was very sudden.

It's weird that Ladybug forgives him to the point that Felix gets to keep the peacock miraculous and is counted as one of the team.
