City Of Lost Characters, Crossover RP signup

I am going to slip in the occasional, sly, blink-and-you'll-miss-it Deadpool fourth wall breaks that won't affect the story too much.

This is a cool concept and I've had my eye on it for awhile and I really liked your Bounty Hunters RP, Firock. Only thing is, with school about to start back up and with me about to start my own RP, I'll probably only be able to post like twice a day. With how active this thread is, will that be enough?

should be, plenty of people post a bit under that rate

as long as you dont do like, one post per in-game day you should be fine

Once or twice a day is about how often I post, so that's fine. The real question is if you can keep up with reading at the current pace. If you're not certain, I'd recommend lurking the main thread and discussion thread for like a week and see how well you can keep up.

Yeah - you guys have an active thread but I think I'll manage. I've been lurking a bit, checking out what you guys are doing for a couple of days now. The Recap page is very helpful. Now, I just have to think of a character...

Would a character necessarily have to be a combat-oriented character to be relevant in this RP, do you think?

No, you can certainly play a character who does not or even cannot fight. It would put you at an inconvenience and force you to sit on the sidelines when it comes to certain events, but it's an option.

By my opinion (though I can see why some people would disagree) this RP isn't about combat; it's about interaction, though happens to have a lot of combat in it.

Some advice: My character is Sadness, one of the most non-combat-oriented characters ever, and she's been amazingly fun to play as. So I wouldn't worry about combat too much!

Let me know if anything needs changing. Can I have him come midway through this game day or do I have to wait until the next one? Also, will I be starting in the library?

• Story: Heroscape
• Name: Major Q10
• Age, gender, and species: Species is a Soulborg - mechanical beings that have completely replaced their organic predecessors on Alpha Prime. Each Soulborg has a soul that is housed within a robotic body. While age and gender are most likely meaningless to the soulborgs, I'm going to assume that he's a hundred years old with a masculine soul.
• Appearance: A ten foot tall robot.◊
• Personality: Having been born as one of the oppressed, gladiator races on his homeworld of Alpha Prime, Major Q10 grew up with a disciplined and proud streak in him. He reveres martial prowess and seeks to protect those who cannot fight for themselves. Under the tutelage of his Valkyrie general, he has grown to be a merciful, able commander. He is the type to fight for what he believes in.
• Back story: Born as an oppressed gladiator in the fighting pits of Alpha Prime, Major Q10 fought with distinction until Vydar, the Valkyrie general of Valhalla, recruited him in his army. Major Q10 eventually became known as one of Vydar's most effective death dealers, fighting against hellspawn, superheroes, soldiers, and more. That is until recently when a strange force has placed him in a world he is unfamiliar with.
• Skills/powers/abilities:
  • Robotic Anatomy - He's ten feet tall and made of metal so he's, needless to say, pretty strong and durable.
  • Strategist - Q10 has seen a lot of combat and knows his way around a battlefield. The Valkyries only know if that knowledge will serve him in such a strange world as the one he's been planted into.
  • Firearms - Is adept with most firearms and knows how to maintain them.
• Items:
  • Machine Pistol
  • Rocket Launcher

@Fantasy Liver: Hey, I actually know Heroscape! I didn't know it had as much back story as it does, and had to do some wiki digging because the pages for it here on TV Tropes are very bare bones, but this all does seem accurate save for one thing.

The machine pistol and rocket pod should be items. It's obvious just looking at his model that he's clearly holding the machine pistol by a handle, and it's not attached to his body; and the rocket pod is distinctly different from and clamped to his other forearm, from which it can presumably be un-clamped.

Also as per the signup rules, he's much too tall. He needs to be shrunk so that he's only about ten feet tall at most, or shorter.

Cool to see another Heroscape player - haven't met many. I've made the necessary edits. Sorry about the size thing - I saw the thing about being able to fit into a room and thought fourteen feet might be enough. Changed it to ten.

@Fantasy Liver: Oh I've barely played any Heroscape. Only had one proper game and I got my ass handed to me in it. But I loved owning and playing with the models and especially those boards. Putting together my own landscapes was the best.

Anyway, it all looks good now. Major Q10 is accepted.

You said you've been lurking so I don't know how much of this you've already seen, but I'll mention anyway. You should read the first post of the main thread to see what his arrival to the city should be like; you should also check out the first post of the discussion thread to see stuff like what the current day rules are, a description of what the city's like, the major NPC groups and locations and subplots, plus some links. Just generally a bunch of stuff that's supposed to be helpful for new players.

And if you've been lurking I'm guessing you already know what's currently going on, but if you don't you should recap the last few pages or so to have an idea before you jump in.

Just one question - am I supposed to say that Q10 arrived in The City on Day One and Hand Wave what he's been doing these past ten days or do I just say that he arrived on Day Ten?

Yes, your first post with him would be the moment he arrives in the city.

• Age, gender, and species: "I'm older then you, for starters, my groin tells you exactly what I am, and I am not a mutant at all. I am indeed human. Horribly scared and permanently with cancer, but you get the idea."
• Appearance: "You want me? Look me up on google! It's a classic red and black costume that you should know if you saw my movie!"
• Personality: "You'll never know what I'll do next! For example, currently, I'm looking at that ass of yours. It smells filthy. Also, I have broken the fourth wall more times then Ferris Bueller."
• Back story: "Abusive parents, weapon X, mercenary backstory.....that's about it."
• Skills/powers/abilities: "A healing factor that let's me heal from nearly anything. I have lots of training in weapons as well. Like, so many weapons. Fuck yeah!"
• Items: "My two bitchin' katannas, plenty of guns, and lots of ammo. No touchie!"

@Vampireandthen: Now I'll admit, if there's any one character for whom it's entirely appropriate to have a fourth wall breaking, self demonstration signup, it's Deadpool. But that said, I have no intentions of making any exceptions; he should have the same kind of signup as anyone else.

Besides, even if I was okay with that kind of signup, what you have here is far too bare bones. To anyone who doesn't know who Deadpool is, this signup tells them basically nothing. For goodness sake man, the relevant part of the back story is five words and a letter. Also "plenty of guns" is too vague to accept.

Deadpool doesn't exactly talk about his past much......touchie subject, considering he may have killed his parents and doesn't even know he did.

As for how many guns he has, can we just say he has a magic sash? I like being close to the comics. Deadpool often pulls weapons out of nowhere, and does run out of ammo plenty.

If you're trying to argue that you shouldn't flesh out the back story segment of his sheet just because Deadpool doesn't talk about it much in character, then you have completely missed two points that I was making. You will not be accepted at all at this rate.

And no, pulling guns out of nowhere is not kosher.

Still miffed Deadpool cannot break the fourth wall much. He is the literal king of breaking the fourth wall.

If you're mad about Deadpool getting nerfed, then you might as well play as as somebody else. And the thing about your sign-up sheet is that it NEEDS to be as informative and fleshed-out as possible. Even a character like Deadpool needs to follow those rules, even if it doesn't fit the whole thing he's got going on with the fourth wall breaking.

Sigh.......

After binge reading the first 100 pages of the RP today I have concluded that I want in. Before I spend the time researching for the specifications I'd need for who I want to be (which given the source would take awhile), I must ask if it's from an acceptable source.

Would it be possible to be a dwarf from one of the big succession games of dwarf fortress, such as syrupleaf. Assuming, of course, that said dorf was roleplayed by its creator well enough for me to have a fully formed character to use (as in not freely moldable to suit my tastes).

I've got backup ideas either way, this is just to confirm if I can use my number 1 choice.

@pillowmantis: Sorry about the late response; I was on a vacation of sorts for this last week and only just got home.

Such a character could be technically allowable, but there would have to be a source that I can cross reference so that I know you aren't just pulling an OC out of your ass. (Or as you said, just molding the character to your own tastes rather than playing them with any degree of accuracy.)

Is there a TV Tropes page or somewhere on another wiki that summarizes and details this character with enough information for me to have a grasp of who they are? Because if not I'm afraid I'll have to say no.
