@Firock Finion Fair enough on the two different people thing. It used to be fairly explicit that the books preludes the movie canon-wise, but the recent Jack Frost book kind of threw that out the window.

With the talking to the wind, that information isn't in the movie directly(Though there is a scene where he calls for the wind to "Take me home." And the wind picks up and carries him away like it was answering) but instead came directly from the creator of the books who was also the writer and executive producer of the movie. Either way, it's just a way to explain how Jack Flies and controls the wind at times, and doesn't really do much else.

And true about the ice-skating/snowboarding bit, but there are a few scenes in the movie, particularly when Jack and Sandman are chasing one of the nightmares that you see him moving across rooftops and getting around obstacles in ways similar to free-running. Though, in the end it's just a name for his ability to move quickly and easily around obstacles.

I imagined the magic of fun working less like its generating the emotion, and more like its bringing it to the surface. Also, far more effective on kids than adults, since they're not as innocent. I wasn't planning on making it be irresistible but does that sound good?

Ah, would it possible to change it to him still being able to generate snow and ice, but not as quickly or powerfully? Like to freeze someone it would take sustained use of it? It's kind of an integral part of his character, and his main ability. I'm fine with it being weaker than it is in the movie, just so long as he still can frost things over, generate snow, ice sidewalks etc. Would that be ok? Less embodiment of Winter, and more Iceman from X-men.

[up][up][up] Pretty much. Adults are typically more emotionally mature then children, and would be able to shake off or fight the affects of it far easier. A cynical enough person could just probably outright no-sell it like you said.

Whether it's generating the emotion or bringing it to the surface, that's still in the end an ability that's affecting them mentally; so even the children characters should be able to resist it if the player controlling them wants to. But otherwise yes, that's fine.

As for the ice powers, when I mentioned the freezing stuff solid with a wave of his staff, I meant specifically that; the rest of his ice powers are fine. It might've just been the way you worded it, but the idea of him being able to, in less than a second by just waving his staff, instantly freeze someone solid and thus immobilize them if not outright kill them, would be really broken. I was originally going to say just to make it so he can't do that to people, but then after thinking about it I realized it would still be pretty broken if I allowed him to do it to objects too. (And therefore the weapons that any opponent may be holding.)

Frosting stuff up, generating snow, ice shards for projectiles, snowy wind; all the other stuff is fine. Just not the, "boop now you're frozen GG NO RE."

EDIT: I'm heading out to a movie pretty soon, so I probably won't be responding for a while.

Yeah, that's fair. Kind of kills the point of an RP if someone else can control your character without you wanting them to.

And awesome. Just wanted to clarify that just in case. And so long as he can still pull off stunts like this and this, I'm good. [lol]

Yeah those are fine. Oh yeah, and don't know how I forgot this before, but other people will be able to see and interact with Jack Frost just fine for the purposes of the RP. Wouldn't be much point if he was an intangible, unhearable spirit that almost nobody could interact with. Anyway, just maybe clear that up a little in your signup and it'll all be fine.

Jack Frost is accepted.

You should read the first post of the main thread to see what Jack's arrival to the city should be like, and also check out the first post of discussion for helpful materials and links such as the current day conditions and a description of the city. Additionally you should probably recap the last few pages of the RP or from the start of the current ingame day, depending on how much recapping you want to do before jumping in; that way you'll at least have some idea of what's currently going on.

Anyway, now I really gotta get going, so ciao for now.

Yeah, I figured as much. Would be kind of hard to RP as an invisible spirit. Possible, but not what I am looking for.

Awesome!

Yeah, I've read through some of it already, the recap pages and such, but I'll go back over again just to be sure. And I certainly picked a day to introduce Jack. Not only is he going to show up in a place he's never seen before, he'll be an animal at the same time. [lol]

  • Story: Touhou Project
  • Name: Seiga Kaku
  • Age, Gender, Species: 1600 or so, Female, Hermit (Essentially an ageless human who requires no sustenance)
  • Appearance: Hermits are cool! Seiga herself is a woman who looks to be in her mid-twenties, standing about 5'10", and is quite pretty by most people's standards.
  • Personality: Duplicitous, and entirely self-serving, except to those she loves. She sees the average person as beneath her on a mental and spiritual level, and has no issue in manipulating them to make ends meet. She rarely lets on that she is disdainful of everyone, however, and comes across as a polite, humble and unflappable lady. Her relationship with Yoshika is most obvious exception to her elitist attitude. Though she often puts her servant directly in the line of fire, she does care for her in a bizarre mother-daughter kind of way. Hence, she spends much time and effort into keeping her well put-together and presentable. Also, because you simply just can't have an obvious zombie around you in polite company. It isn't done! Though she holds Taoism above other followings and holds a grudge against priests of other religions, she isn't a very fervent follower in the principles. Instead, she sees it as a means of learning ancient knowledge and improving herself through arcane rituals, and she is willing to pass on this knowledge to those she takes an interest in.
  • Backstory: Her father abandoned her at a young age to go practice the mystical side of Taoism, and Seiga was surprisingly quick to follow in his footsteps. Long story short, she eventually faked her death and was able to achieve the highest goal of a Taoist sage: Immortality. A while afterwards, she was very zealous in her desire to spread the secrets she had learned (and showing off her sick hermit skills) to the elite, traveling from her homeland of China to Japan and eventually contacting one Prince Shotoku, a prominent political figure in that time. Around 600 AD, she convinced the Prince and some devout followers to undergo an extremely laborious and complex ritual which would grant them immortality as well, which ended with Seiga interring them in a mausoleum and waiting. For a very, very long time. For most of this period, she has lived in seclusion, studying and observing history go by passively. At the outset of her entrance into The City, she has just entered Gensokyo circa 2011 and is preparing for Prince Shotoku's return.
  • Skillz:
    • Necromancy!: She can raise the dead either as mindless servants or, with far more preparation and expense, full-on resurrection! However, the materials and rituals needed to reverse death and violate the very laws of life are highly time-consuming and expensive. Raising a jiangshi servant doesn't take long and is mostly just writing the right spells onto a handy piece of paper, but resurrection takes a year or more and perfect resurrection with no side-effects takes an extremely long amount of meticulous planning.
    • Further Necromantic Applications!: Not only limited to raising the dead, Seiga has access to a number of obscure Taoist rituals that have a wide variety of applications, but mostly curses and potions. The issue with actually making this magic as well as her resurrections is that it requires some preparation time, and she needs a wide variety of obscure components, all of which can be substituted for corpses. A lot of corpses. Sometimes specific varieties depending on the spell being cast. She won't realize it for a while, but dead people lying around aren't available at all in The City, so this and her resurrection abilities would be rendered entirely moot.
    • Flight!: Well, she's a Touhou, of course she can fly! She can temporarily grant this ability to Yoshika as well, but it requires full concentration and precludes any multitasking on her part.
  • Items: Her main possession of note is her Hairpin, an old artifact that allows her to open holes in anything. By tracing over the hole she wants to make with the tip of the pin, an opening can be made in any surface, even in less than solid ones like water or gas. It doesn't cause any sort of structural instability, and can be used on living things without any ill effect. The hole naturally disappears after a few minutes, and no evidence is left that there was a hole in the first place. However, only one hole can be opened at a time. She also keeps a backup paper talisman on her person in the unlikely case that Yoshika's current one is lost somehow.

  • Story: Touhou Project
  • Name: Yoshika Miyako
  • Age, Gender, Species: Currently 13, Female, Human
  • Appearance: Real human girl! Stands about 5'4", and is generally a rather scrawny kid.
  • Personality: Persistent, and cunning. There have been quite a few things going on in her life that ended up with her being...a little maladjusted, perhaps, but the core of the intelligent and strong young girl she was beforehand remains. Yoshika's come out of this experience with a very firm stance on her own moral code, which is mostly "don't do necromancy" but that's kind of normal. A little emotionally stunted, perhaps, due to her treatment by Seiga. She tends to respond to sadness by just shutting down, and certain things can set off her anger very easily. She may be creative, but she's very lacking in education and rather naive. Tends to be easily amused. More than anything, her zombie-like tendency to keep working at a problem remains; she is very truly persistent at trying to solve her own problems.
  • Backstory: Yoshika was, for quite a while, dead. A long time ago, in Japan, she was a young girl born to a noble house, and an aspiring poet. She met a traveling wisewoman named Seiga Kaku sitting in a meadow, playing an enchanting song. She became amazed at not only her talent with the arts, but the incredible worldly knowledge she held, always knowing exactly what to say. This ideal woman was something she immediately aspired to become, and Seiga became not only great friends with her, but her family as well. For a few years, they met regularly, and Yoshika's admiration never ceased. Until one day, when she fell ill with a strong fever. In a rather surprising turn of events, Seiga poisoned her and made it look like it was merely the disease doing its work.
    • After that, Seiga took her dead body and ensured it would remained preserved far longer than any natural corpse, and stuffed it in a tomb for the next 1400 years or so. In the far off and mysterious year of 2008, she raised Yoshika as a jiangshi, an undead servant with complete obedience to their master. The hermit still remembered the bright young girl that she once was, and began to see her as less of a mere servant and more of a companion. To this end, she allowed her just a little more emotion than any other jiangshi she raised. They spent a year wandering the nation, preparing a ritual to transfer them to the fantasy land of Gensokyo.
    • Like 2 years after Yoshika got there and an hour after Seiga did, they got taken to the City, putting a damper on any plans to revive old saints. After over a week there, and a long and winding path of robot admiration, accidental imbibing of drugs, weightlifting contests, Leviathan-slaying and the occasional comfy story time, Yoshika managed to break free of Seiga's will...and then lose it the next day, and then gain it back the day after. But, despite all of the machinations of her former master, Yoshika finally found someone to call family in Ciri, and with her and many others' help (shoutout to my boy Lucas, peace dawg) she became human once more.
  • Skillz: She can do anything a thirteen-year-old whose body is only used to sitting around the house would do. Namely, nothing. She still has some pointy fingernails and teeth, though.
  • Items: Always and forever more, she has a cool hat.

@wikkit: Well I've seen the occasional fan art of the two but never really delved into them much. Still, this seems mostly accurate based on the information in their character page entries. Although I didn't see anything about her ever speaking cryptically. Plus if I'm reading it right, there isn't really much canon interpretation of Seiga caring for Yoshika in a motherly fashion; in fact it seemed to indicate that that's purely a fanon thing. But that's not the biggest deal I suppose.

Like similar items/abilities, there may be times where I'll have to say that the hairpin simply won't work on a given thing/substance, just because.

And I assume you understand the issues and risks inherent with playing a complete and total sociopath among the current cast of characters?

About cryptic-ocity: Yeah, I'll agree, not sure what I was thinking three months ago.

About mother-daughter business: ...it is closer to the fanon edge, aye. Seiga refers to Yoshika as "cute underling", but considering their limited appearances it is up in the air what their relationship is beyond master-underling. I guess I err on the side of giving them this one interpretation.

About hairpin not working: ye

About not playing nice people: Well, she certainly isn't going to interact like a sociopath, just act like it. Though I see it could be a bit hard trying to be bad in a subtle and indirect way due to the nature of play by post roleplaying, I want to try.

Don't worry, I'm just switching to this guy temporarily. I hope

  • Story: Megaman Network Transmission
  • Name: Zero.EXE
  • Age, Species and Gender: A male NetNavi (a type of advanced AI that can think and feel like humans) of unknown age; though it's likely he's existed for only a few years at most
  • Appearance: "I didn't ask to be born as a virus."
  • Personality: He's often quiet and rather dutiful (much like his robot counterpart). Despite his demonic and tall appearance, he's soft-spoken and kind, shown when he was rather upset that his mere existence caused pain. He's gained a optimistic outlook on life thanks to his conversion to a normal NetNavi. He has an innate curiosity of things around him, and naturally wants to know about it. He has come to understand and like the feeling of friendship thanks to Lan Hikari and Megaman. But, since he has only been a Navi for a short while, there are still things that, though most might know, he has no idea about.
  • History: He was a virus, and his Cyberworld (kind of like a server), the Zero Account, were created by Lord Wily but for unknown reasons were shut down and abandoned. Sometime after Lord Wily was defeated by Lan Hikari and Megaman, he was reawakened by the Professor, Lord Wily's assistant. He had him spread his virus (aptly named Zero Virus) across the net while another Navi (Starman) sold a fake vaccine for the virus to futher the Professor's plan to revive an even more dangerous virus, the Life Virus. Zero could see and hear things coming from his viruses, and so he also gathered data and spied on others. Somehow, at some point, while doing that, he gained consciousness. He wasn't too happy that just being alive caused evil, but continued to spread more viruses. He was a virus, that's what he was. There wasn't much else he could do. So when Megaman and Lan found him in the Zero Account, he fought them. They were warriors fighting for good, he was a virus spreading evil. That's just how it was. He was defeated by them, and Megaman hesitated in finishing him off. Allies of the two, Protomon and Chaud, then told Megaman to finish him off. Thankfully, for both Zero, Lan, and Megaman, Lan's father, Dr. Hikari, interrupted. He said, thanks to Lan finding a source file earlier, he could seal off Zero's virus production feature and thus making him a normal Navi. Zero was surprised on how happy the pair were for him and was then transfered to SciLabs, where Dr. Hikari works. In gratitude, he helped the police track down the Professor with the viruses not yet destroyed and had the Professor arrested. Zero, after bidding Megaman and Lan good bye, then went off to explore the vast Cyberworld, with officials from SciLabs monitoring him, of course. At least until he got transported to this strange place.
  • Abilities/Powers/Skills:  Before he was converted, he was able to create viruses and sense things from them. Though he can still do the latter, it's practically useless since he can't create more viruses (and none are being transported to the City). He's a capable warrior, who can take plenty of hits for someone not so bulky, and is skilled in using his Saber. For the sake of convinience, he won't have acess to his other abilities note .
  • Items: N/A
  • Other:
    • For convience, he'll be made of Hard Light and will be seven feet tall.

  • Story: Mega Man X (Some time after Sigma's defeat but before Zero's sleep)
  • Name: Mega Man X, Mega Man, X
  • Age, gender, and species: 20s (Physically much older, has been in service a long time), Male, Robot / Reploid
  • Appearance: Super Fighting Robot Mega Man!note
  • Personality: X is a hot blooded and strong willed robot committed to justice, but also a warrior that is tired of having to only solve his problems through violence. At his very core X is a dedicated warrior who wishes to see peace in his time, but will fight if he must within a moment's notice. X is perfectly stable and while concerned over where the fighting and warring will lead, He will defend the innocence to the best of his power and persevere, knowing what dangers face if he stands by.
  • Back story: Built by Dr. Light as his ultimate creation, X was a Black Box design that today still has modern scientists confused. X was so powerful that at the time of creation, Dr. Light had to seal X away and instruct a series of ethical tests to make sure that X did not become a doomsday device, but rather a grand hope for the future. X doesn't fully understand his own body and many things remain hidden to him, Dr. Light foresaw this and built series of holographic pods to upgrade X and inform him of his functions. X to this day remains a warrior for justice and will not hesitate to help if he can.
  • Skills/powers/abilities:
    • X-Buster (Aka Mega-Buster Mk. 17) - Standard Weapon, converts solar energy into high powered shots, aka plasma shots
    • Variable Weapons System - A replicator type weapon that holds internal ammo cells to fire a host of weapons copied from other Reploids, complete with a Archive that X regularly wipes to keep himself from having too much power. Can even be outfitted with previous weapons used by the VWS. Current Weapons are
      • Electric Spark - A basic lightning gun of electric spheres
      • Fire Wave - Flamethrower
      • Shotgun Ice - Fires a short range burst of sharpened ice based projectiles
      • Homing Torpedo - Fires a seeking explosive device
      • Spin Wheel - A metal sawblade is launched from his Buster
      • Aiming laser - Fires a 3 blast burst of energy beams
    • Dash Booster - Emergency Acceleration System, allows X to dash forward shortly at High Speeds
    • Full Auto Gyro Stabilization - Gives X excellent balance and what allows him to move so nimbly and wall jump
    • Super Strength
  • Items: None available as he does not have any of the armor upgrades on him, just a archive of previously used weapons.
  • Other: X's personality is a compromise of the two extremes that have been seen in the games, settling for a middle ground tired warrior instead of a Headstrong Macho warrior, and the individual who could only bitch about peace and how he hated fighting.

I had originally wanted to do just Mega Man but I figured X would be better as he stands a better chance of surviving than Rock does. And I decided to show both his typical design, and his Command Mission design because really those were the only defaults he had. More likely to use the Standard him.

I was also going to include the unknown adaptability system that gave him a edge over Sigma in the "Day of Sigma" OVA but I figured the fact that he's a Lightning Bruiser Walking Arsenal is enough.

Anything I should change?

Alright, got distracted for longer than I expected, but got it done.

Anyway, @Echoing Silence: I've not played any Mega Man game really, and the only friend of mine that I know has played any of the X series only played the first one. Thankfully the character page is extensive. Far as I can tell this seems accurate enough, with only the personality being under question and even the character page made it clear that his exact personality is different from game to game.

As for what needs to be changed as per the RP, the only thing that sticks out is the super strength needing to be toned down. Taking what you describe at face value would put him multiple weight classes above everyone else in the city in terms of raw physical strength. It's fine for him to be strong, just not that strong.

Also, I realize you probably left it out of the sheet on purpose, but for the record: I saw mentioned multiple times on his character entry that he apparently has "limitless potential", and supposedly is only even capable of losing a fight because he's purposefully holding back. I should think I don't have to explain why that wouldn't be allowed.
