Hot damn, Kudelia is amazing. She had revealed Gjallarhorn dirty deeds to whole solar system and had them back off with just words. No wonder Mika was impressed.

Gali Gali is really annoying. A pampered noble who's ego got hurt when he got beat by kids. I hope he dies soon.

I loved how Mika immediately saw through Chocolate man disguise like it wasn't even there. Seems Pedo Char aim is what we predicted, using Kudelia's revolution to force changes in Gjallarhorn.

Orga realized Tekkadan must step up it's game so it's not used as a pawn by everyone

The old man from African Union cracked me up. Not much of a princess he is.

Kudelia dealing with her grief from losing Fumitan and the disgust that she has to make deals with people who had their hands in that was really well done. She wants to stay strong, but what she really needed was a shoulder to cry on before moving on to the battles yet to come.

Some great character development for Mika. Rather than just being passive and going with the flow he though things out and swore fealty to Kudelia. She must've really left a strong impression on him.

Great episode all around.

A nice little Breather Episode:

• Holy shit Kudelia managed to turn around from being useless really fast!
• I was quite amused that Mika immediately ID'ed Macky. I'm still waiting to see what the catch is. I suppose he could turn out to be another Harry Ord, but the Grimgerde screams final boss mech.
• Gaelio and Ein need to kiss already. Even more than Shino and Yamagi.
• We finally get to see the white haired Gjallarhorn woman from the opening. But we still don't know her name. Sounds like she's not one of the Seven Stars and that she'll be a representative of the more evil part of Gjallarhorn.
• It looks like Kudelia's contact in the power blocs is corrupt. That's not a good sign for these negotiations.
• And suddenly, Atra's Imagine Spot of her and Kudelia becoming Mika's harem doesn't seem so far fetched. He clearly cares deeply about both of them.

Next time: obligatory atmospheric reentry battle!

Edit: Does anyone else find it curious that McGillis has let Todo in on his masked identity? Does Gaelio know about this as well?

I found it a nice aversion of What Happened to the Mouse? when Todo appeared again. Always wondered what happened to him. Loved how Mika just completely saw through the disguise. And I knew you had it in you, Kudelia! I always had faith, unlike several others in this thread! glare

God damn another satisfying episode. Iron-Blooded Orphans is just good!

Reentry battle next episode! I smell fiery death for someone.

You'd think Mackie would ditch that ridiculous mask once he'd been recognized. It looks pretty uncomfortable (and goofy). I really want to see a mashup of that mask and Pegasus lines from Yu-gi-Oh! (Abridged? Dunno what he was like in the Abridged Series).

Allow me.

That's what it would be like.

He should have changed his voice. That's the actual problem with it.

Mika might be at the center of the harem, but Atra's calling the shots.

Nah, it's more likely that Mika's a Newtype but never told anyone because nobody ever asked.

That would be so in-character for him.

But Mika managed to ID Macky before Macky even got the chance to say anything. And Mika has only seen Macky's face once before too.

Not bad Kudelia. PR always was the weakness of these official organizations. Hah at Mika recognizing Macky instantly. Always the observant one. And caring in his own way to Kudelia and Atra.

I like to think it's just because Mika's a oddball that he recognized Chocolate Man faster.

Since he's had such little interaction with the other characters I'm fairly certain Mika's thoughts were "He has Chocolate Man hair and sounds like Chocolate man. He is Chocolate man."

Oh shit, it looks like we might be getting a 'reentry to earth' episode with the mandatory 'Gundam has to reenter on its own' bit too.

He was also wearing a wig. I like to think that it might have been the fact that he recognized the lower half of Macky's face.

He recognised McGillis by his voice during the Schwalbe Graze fight, too. Guy's just observant when he wants to be.

Good episode. Not much to say that hasn't already been mentioned, but I like Lafter's commentary on the Tekkadan pilots. It's like they're working so hard that she feels like a slacker in comparison. (She probably doesn't mind hanging around to check out the buff shirtless dudes, either.)

Pretty sure that wasn't it - Lafter seemed to be grumbling about not being able to monopolise Akihiro on the simulators any more. They've been growing pretty close over the course of the series (as the design of the Gusion Rebake attests).

I am a little late to the party but here i am nonetheless.

Anyway! On this week's episode!

It was really damn funny how Mika immediately knew that the char clone was the chocolate man. And in a very casual way.

And the silver haired chick from the new opening makes her debut. She really reminds me of Haman from Zeta.

Nah - the show isn't taking her nearly as seriously as Zeta and ZZ took Haman. She reminds me more of oddball commanders like Chara from ZZ and Mashner from G-Reco.

I think Chara Soon or Mashmyre from Gundam ZZ are the best analogues for that silver-haired commander. She takes herself seriously, has some fairly loyal minions, but no one else really cares about her. Visually, she kinda reminds me of Maester Delphine from Last Exile.

...Yeah. I think that comparison is more appropriate

I was expecting her to belt out a Noblewoman's Laugh at the end of her little speech there.

I noticed an interesting little feature from when Kudelia agrees to partnership with Macky. She has faint red lines under eyes from crying earlier. Nice touch from the animators there.
