Night

Cerise stopped humming and peeked over Gage's shoulder again, at Halle this time.

"If you need to get home, the buses'll still be going 'round this hour. That's probably more your speed," she said.

She popped back behind Gage, then separated her head from her neck and held it up in the air, over the top of Gage's head, making her grin more visible.

"Were you really going to be their little errand bot?"

The Kitchen

"Hanging out sounds nice." Although Raggy was not fully convinced of James' words, he was at least willing to believe he has recovered... somewhat.

But still, he needed some downtime, and cat ladies getting into his personal space were not the way to go. "Uh... personal space for the recoveree, Miss?" He flashed an awkward smile as he tried, gently, to pull on Cerise's shoulder to let James not be bothered.

Evening

Ceasing his drumming and killing the music, Duncan sighed and said "This really isn't gettin' us anywhere. Is there some sort of compromise we can come to? Like, lookin' for some muggers or other petty criminals in the act and givin' them a wee bit of a lickin' to get them to talk? I feel like we can all agree that beatin' up people that are hurtin' the defenseless is okay."

Though he didn't mention it, Duncan just really wanted to put someone through his table.

The Weekend - Near Midnight, Northern Quarter, Vale

Gage scratched his head and fought the impulse to scratch the crown of Cerise's head. As much as he believed that everyone should have a chance to not get their faces stoven in and to break a cycle of violence and victimization, he was very aware that there were times and places to have discussions such as these.

Especially when he realized that the area around them was far too quiet.

"Look, every side has points," he began. "But we're losing the point. When we get to Candlemas, we're drawing straws as to see who goes with Scarlet to ask around. Until then, I think we better move. Hear that?"

Trick question; there was nothing to hear. Though anyone paying attention could hear the slightest jangling of chain and the lightest stomp of boot heels upon concrete ledges.

The Weekend - Morning, Dorm Sakura Kitchen

"Leave 'im alone, Cerise. Jimmy's got his head on straight." Gage as fishing for something in one of his pants pockets. "'Kay, Dia, just hold out your hand."

When she offered him her palm, he dropped something into it, something hard and singing a familiar song; the key which had been given to her on that Tuesday night.

"I think it'd be better if you kept it. You'd know when to pop it out." He smiled at her through a mouthful of pancakes, fruits, and syrup.

Scarlet activated her helmet, the metal encasing her head again. "I think it's too late to leave. Chances are they got here midway through our argument. Probably already got us surrounded." She pointed out, her chain unraveling from around her waist as she began spinning the top half in a tight circle.

She spared a quick glance over a Gage. "Well, Street Rat? I may not know exactly what your deal is but I figure you got some history here and I never paid much attention to turf specifics. What we dealin' with?"

Killing his bike's engine, Duncan climbed off of End of Days and began quietly setting up his table a few feet away from his precious bike. Seeing as a fight was likely to break out, Duncan figured it was best to be prepared for whatever might come instead of floundering in the heat of battle.

"We have an idea on numbers? Because if I could put, say, three fellas through this table, it'd make my night".

Dia immediately stretched out her palm to hold the object. It was that crystal thing that she passed to Gage that day at the CCT, prompting him to gain that sweet crystal armor of his. Of course it was extremely valuable.

Miss Rayfer was a woman of manners, and unlike Gage, she made sure that she had no food in her mouth before talking.

"Oh my, that's-... Don't worry, I will take great care of this."

Kitchen Morning.

Blinking in surprise and quickly finding his face burning an even brighter shade of crimson at the feline faunus getting closer than he would've liked. With her unsettling grin and a slightly eerie vibe he was getting, James found it hard but managed to stand his ground as the blue-haired boy gave a shy, if friendly smile back...and mentally thanking others who'd 'saved' him again.

"W...Well, h-here's to hoping we get along, Miss C-Cerise. U-Um..." He was a bit surprised at Ragna before giving a small nod. "I-I-It's okay. I-I don't mind. And, well, I'm not...quite sure what to do...o-or where to go, but...I'm sure we can f-figure something out."

...And he wasn't sure whether what Gage said was a compliment or not. Although considering the two of them seemed to know each other...

...how many people and c-connections does he e-even have...

Snapping out of his thoughts and brightening a bit at Dia, he took a seat and nodded. "A-Alright t-then. Um...but I guess we should h-have breakfast first."

Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.

The Weekend - Near Midnight, Northern Quarter, Vale

Gage was rolling his shoulders, muttering to himself as he cast his eyes around the alley to the park.

"Things aren't adding up," he said out loud. "If it was a North gang, they'd be hitting us all guns blazing. But these guys were waiting, stalking, using the rooftops, the heights..."

His eyes began a slow ascent, even as he spun slowly in place, like some jungle cat in enclosed environs.

It didn't click until Halle moved a certain way and barely avoided getting impaled by a harpoon which buried itself in the pavement with a resounding thwack. From the line that was wrapped tightly around it, the intent was clear.

They came rappeling down the walls, leaping out of windows. Hooded figures, moving too fast to be counted, flashes of garish face paint just visible in the dim light. A collection of clubs, hooked arm-blades, sickles, and chains in their grasp. A few others were aiming homemade compound bows or harpoon guns.

"Warpath!" Gage howled just as they began an eerie war cry, charging towards the students.

The Weekend - Morning, Dorm Sakura Kitchen

He waved off Dia's thanks. It felt like such a thing belonged in her hands, where she could use it. His tea pot began to whistle and Gage hopped up to pour himself a helping of his favored strong brew, passing by James and ruffling his hair.

"If you say so," Cerise said.

Cerise plucked her head off her neck, twisted it around backwards and set it down again. She was now eerily facing Raggy.

"It's just too bad that I don't," she said. "Have my head on straight, I mean."

Cerise carelessly shrugged Raggy's hand away and walked backwards to her seat, and to her sole remaining pancake, now gone cold. Soon, she corrected her head alignment and laughed.

"Yes, it would be nice if we could get along, Jimmy."

Kitchen Awkwardness

Raggy did not flinch away from Cerise's glare. "Uh... it would be good if we all had our heads on straight. Just in case." He grinned, scratching the back of his head as he glanced between her and James before sighing dejectedly. What a poor first impression.

"Didn't mean to give out such an unwelcome, well, welcome. Just worried for a friend, is all."

Scarlet raised an eyebrow under her helmet. "Well, that's a new one." She commented drily. Then she threw her chain forward in between the ranks rushing down one side of the alley before pulling to one side, slamming the now massive length of her weapon against half the attackers on that side.

"Heard this comin'," Cerise said. Her faunus ears twitched. "If it's these guys, this shouldn't be a problem. Right?"

A joke. One that Gage might not find so funny, considering his history with the west side.

"Hey, I won't get in trouble if it's self-defense."

Cerise vaulted over Gage's shoulder and blinked out of existence. Her body reformed, poised like a cat balancing on the rail of a nearby fire escape. She quickly traveled up a floor with another blink, then swung her mace at a nearby window, smashing a sickle-wielding assailant in the stomach just as he leaped out of it. He tumbled down a few storeys and crashed face-down into the concrete. Cerise hopped into the window to confront anyone still in the building.

"'sup, dorks," Cerise announced, resting her baton over her shoulder, "You're a long way from home. We're here on business. The business doesn't involve you. Kindly fall down and don't get up again, will you?"

"That's... an interesting Semblance you have there, Cerise."

Miss Rayfer would then resume with her breakfast, but taking note of what she saw.

(Well, that was unexpected. I guess that's her Semblance. Cerise: Ability to... detach body parts?)

Dia watched the little event unfold, before replying after she finished her mouthful. "I'm sure we can get along together. We can do something after breakfast."

Evening, fight

Grinning as the horde began charging towards him, Duncan gestured to three of the thugs and called out "Bet I can take all o' you out within 30 seconds." Before grabbing the first one, using his momentum to spin him around 360 degrees and slam him through Duncan's nearby table.

With the Ganger out of the fight for now, Duncan picked up a chair and took a few kicks to his back and legs for making the mistake of turning his back. Retaliating by hitting one thug in the head with his Chair, Duncan then knocked the other one back with a boot to the chest.

Unfolding his chair, Duncan placed it gently down on the ground before grabbing the same Ganger that he'd struck with it earlier and headbutted him twice before lifting the thug onto his shoulders and powerbombing him directly onto the chair.

No doubt angered by seeing his fellow gang member broken in half, the third gangster began wailing on Duncan with a gnarly looking club. Taking a few hits to his jacket, the impact dulled by Baron's nearly impenetrable material, Duncan was sent reeling after a hard blow to the head that left his head ringing. Shaking his head to try and dull the unpleasant sensation, Duncan struck back with a lightning fast chop to the thug's chest, knocking him back a few steps and giving Duncan enough time to roll over to where his other chair was lying. As the Warpath member charged at him once more, Duncan dropped him with a running superkick to the face. Letting his chair fall to the ground, Duncan knelt down next to the gangster and patted the side of his face, murmuring "Now be a good lad n' stay down for a wee bit"

Unfortunately for Duncan, the Gangster wasn't feeling like listening and responded by punching Duncan in the groin. Gritting his teeth, Duncan punched the gangster in the face before snarling "Now, mate, you have made a big mistake." Rising to his feet, Duncan kicked the thug in the face before grabbing the gangster's left ankle and wrenching it as hard as possible to the right until he heard the telltale crunch of a bone breaking before Duncan would let go and simply say "Sorry 'bout that, stay down next time".

Picking up both chairs, Duncan jogged over to Gage and handed him one, saying "Wanna beat on these guys until candy comes out?" as he did so.

Bristling and finding himself getting flustered while trying to get his hair tidy after Gage's...attempt to try and get him worked up before rationalizing that it was probably just him being friendly.

...Guess he still doesn't take me seriously either w-

Of course, the moment he saw Cerise casually remove her head, James found himself staring with a mix between being shocked...and wondering if she was part Dullahan instead of it being her semblance. And when she spoke up again...

"I-It's James...but...well, c-call me whatever you want, I-I guess."

Rubbing his neck and glancing over to Dia, Croire nodded in agreement, quietly commenting that the day had barely started, so there wasn't any real rush.

Scarlet used her chain to pull herself and shoulder rush another group of gang members before grabbing on she had missed and brutally slamming her knee into his gut, causing him to fold in half.

"Didn't your parents ever teach you that it's rude to crash parties?" She roared, swinging her chain in a wide circle, knocking down even more of them. "The least you could do to make up for it is show us a good time!" She taunted at the various prone forms surrounding her.

The Weekend - Near Midnight, Northern Quarter, Vale

"That's kind of what we're doing anyway, Dunc!" Gage had one in a headlock and used him as a fulcrum, spinning around and catching his incoming friends with beautiful kicks to the jaw. He let his feet hit the ground and threw the last away with an easy hip toss. He looked up as a band of them screamed his old title and barrel towards him. More than a few looked intent on taking his bandanna and waving it from rooftops. The delinquent only grinned and counter-charged, slamming into the first one with a knee strike before laying out a second with a diving punch and disappearing into the mass.

A warpath wasn't a pretty term, but it was what they in the streets used to describe the occasional roils of violence to come from the western districts of the city. Something went wrong a long time ago, and the gangs under that long-ago leader, the Tiger of Vale, went tribal, even a little feral, in the very worst way.

As such, the Claw Boys, as their war cries called them, came on heedless of the sterling fighting quality of their prey. Makeshift arrows whistled down over their heads, along with a few grapple-harpoons that missed. Scarlet's 'part the seas' move got more than a few of them, but just as many were wise to the trick and dodged, coming into range and having a rank go down under her expert fighting skills.

They recognized the strength of Duncan, Scarlet and Gage... And that excited them further, funneling towards them in a rush to take them down.

Accosting some of those using the elevation, Cerise saw them aim bows, slingshots, and a few single-shot zip guns in her direction and loose wildly.

The Weekend - Morning, Dorm Sakura Kitchen

There was a sharp chemical scent in the kitchen air as Gage poured himself a pot of very strong tea. "Don't let the head trick mess you up, she's been doing that for years." There was an audible sip, and a sigh of contentment.

"Dammit! Seriously?!" Halle kept herself stable and defensive as the gang approached. "We—I don't want to fight you!" She delivered a short karate chop to a Claw Boy right in the chest and a snapping kick to another; as they came to her she answered in kind. Her physique allowed her to respond to attacks completely unlike a human being, twisting and writhing as blades came for her. Like always, a blunt instrument, probably a bat, caught her square in the face, and Zarathustra went sailing through the air.

Halle couldn't take on too many threats at once, though; as she drew more and more attention with restrained blows that weren't permanently taking anyone out of the action, her limp arm was becoming more and more of a liability, trailing behind her. It wasn't going to hold for much longer. Zarathustra was still reeling towards her; with the momentum of her neck winch, Halle finally employed her actual weapon and slung it around with the mouth closed, trying to bruise and fracture without killing. "Seriously, why? Why so much force for four people?!"

Halle's only response was snarled curses. She might have been able to pick the word, 'shinies' through the rage right before they went down to her swinging fists and head. The blow even put one through a collection of garbage cans.

Gage's head poked out from a nearby brawl. "They're Claw Boys, Halle! They're one of the biggest gangs in Vale and really love making sure they come away with consolation prizes!" One fist caught him flush on the jaw and the delinquent snarled before disappearing into the fray.

Morning in Dorm Sakura

"Isn't it?" Cerise said.

This kind of irresponsible use seemed like what people who learned their Semblance in the last few years would do, not someone who had spent most of adolescence with it and gotten over the novelty.

"Will this something be fun?"

Night

Cerise ducked under an arrow. She barged into the guy in front, knocking him into his improvised zip gun-toting allies. Somehow, though, one of the Claw Boys struck Cerise with a well placed slingshot pellet to the forehead. Cerise recoiled, head snapping back, and she began to topple backwards. For a moment, they ceased fire and thought they'd won. Then, Cerise caught herself with her Semblance and balanced back to her feet with a stomp.

"What are you, five years old?" she said, testily. She nursed a red mark on her forehead.

Through the windows of the building came the sound of smashing glass, scuffles, painful grunts from several different people, and a loud cat's screech and hiss (from Cerise, not anyone's pet), followed by a second of silence. Cerise burst out of a different window than the one she came in through, bringing a well-bruised sling-wielding gangster with her. They crashed on the ground, his body serving as a cushion for Cerise's fall.

Cerise stood up, pressing her shoe against the side of the gangster's face. Her clothes were disheveled, as was her hair. She seemed to already have a few nicks and bruises, but none of her damage compared to the guy beneath her foot.

"They're like crows, coming down to pick at anything that's shiny. They won't take chances. Sorry, but I don't have any trophies for you pathetic lot," Cerise said. The bell around her collar jangled. "You want my bell? Come and get it."

Scarlet laughed semi-maniacly as more of the gang members approached her. "Not very polite to rush a lady. Of course not that you can keep up anyway." She tripped up one of the members and rushed in to deliver a strong kick to the ribs.

"Dance faster." She threw her chain to one side where it wrapped itself around one of the warpack before shooting in the opposite direction and caught one that had been about to jump on her back. A quick pul sent them colliding together above her head.

Another came at the biker and smashed against her helmet with a pipe, only to receive a clothesline for his trouble. Scarlet leapt to his buddy before grabbing him by the should and slamming into him with a vicious headbutt.

Scarlet swept her now flaming chain up, momentarily clearing the air of projectiles. "Is this the best you got?"

Dropping both of his chairs, Duncan rolled under a wild sickle swing before retaliating by pulling the gangster into a wristlock, then a quick transition into an armlock. With a quick yank sideways, Duncan dislocated the Claw Boy's arm before rising back to his feet and targeting another foe.

Lunging forward with lightning speed, Duncan would grab the nearest Claw Boy and slam his skull into a wall before lifting the ganger off of the ground and into a fireman's carry. Midnight Vale - Party Crashers

"Gas that rabble down."

"Right away, Lieutenant."

Somebody above the fight watched the scuffle between Claw Boys and Beacon students. How awfully convenient of that robot girl to be involved in something that big a day after CCT almost blew up to kingdom come, not to mention some other names that Lieutenant could recognize right away from glancing at the Huntsmen-in-training. In her humble opinion, at least half of them should be rotting in a juvy.

As for the Claw Boys... well, it was about time that Vale retook what belonged to her.

On Lieutenant's command the operatives began unloading the payload: volleys of tear gas, over and over. They aimed mostly at the feral gang, but she did not mind seeing a few fly towards Beacon students as well. They could tough it out. Still, the main objective of tonight's mission was to neutralize the Claw Boys, so that Order Enforcement could move in and capture the remaining criminals, then hold the ground until the situation was stabilized.

Rather conveniently, Beacon's appearance did manage to attract a large enough group for Lieutenant's tastes.

The tear gas is an awful weapon; it's non-lethal for most cases, but it does not let go gently; it blocks your view with tears, crawls all over your skin, gets into your nose and lungs, makes you wanna wring yourself out. To resist that attack, let alone walk away from it, one has to either be made of steel or have the determination enough to withstand this.

And while First Lieutenant Maria Astral expected the Huntsmen to have that determination, the animals from Warpath would not be so lucky.

Satisfied with the volleys and the effects it had on Claw Boys she had her men be ready for anything with bean bags ready to put down anyone trying to be smart with a sneak attack, then turned on the megaphone. "Attention, Beacon students! Cease and desist at once! Order Enforcement is on its way to contain this area and clean it off the Warpath!" To any Claw Boy who was not at the fight busy trying to not tear their eyes out, this was a challenge, thrown boldly and in their own territory. Only the bravest or most insane would issue something like this.

But Maria's Shades - thirty hardy men in full equipment, hidden amongst the darkness and rigorously trained - were here to take the city back.
