Duncan shrugged "Yeah, kind of was. Pay's nice, but the guys in that particular area of the biz are kind of dicks. Don't really like doin' the deathmatches anyway, but Uncle Fionn insisted I give every style a try before I began to make my up in the biz."

Moving onto the next set of pictures, this time in a spacious outdoor arena, Duncan continued to blather on about his matches. "Ah, this one was fun. Didn't really do much because I pulled a leg muscle the night before, so my tag partner had to take over for most of it." as he moved through the pictures, Duncan quickly remembered that his partner for this match wasn't Fionn. As the first image with both him and his partner showed up on the screen (his partner being a red-masked woman, roughly Duncan's height) the grappler stashed his scroll again and said "Enough of that, wanna see something cool? Swing that pool cue of yours right at my back!"

Dia smiled as she offered James a bowl of ice-cream from the tray by using her Semblance to levitate it to him. "You're welcome, James."

Just there, she also saw Lena. She was smiling, despite the fact that she had been upstaged by her brother and Yan and their... peculiar performance. Dia knew that Lena didn't have a very good impression of her thanks to the unnecessary bloodlust during that day at the aquarium (plus the fact that Dia was a bit too violent with her fight against the Fathom). But this time, Dia was much more polite and friendly, like she usually was.

"Good morning Lena. You sang very well there." Dia would've applauded if not for her hands being full.

Dia noticed that she was eyeing the ice cream. It was a good thing that Dia had prepared a number of bowls.

"Would you like some ice cream?"

...eheh

Hm?

"That woman, was she your tag partner?" He inquired, curious.

Then however came up another topic and he couldn't help blinking. "Er, sure thing. Got some shielding Semblance?" He asked as he pulled out the pool cue and put it together.

"Oh, er..." She blushed faintly at Dia complimenting her. "It was nothing, really. Everybody can sing like that." She brushed it off with a small shake of her head. "And sure, I'd love me some."

"Whoever that was doesn't matter, just go ahead and take a swing at me brother." Said Duncan, eager to change the subject "I promise you I'm not gonna feel a thing"

Hope you don't care about that pool cue...

Preparing himself for the blow to come, Duncan grabbed hold of Baron's collar and gave it a quick tap with his thumb to make sure that the jacket was still gonna do its job.

Dia offered a bowl of ice-cream to Lena, smiling as she used her Semblance to levitate the crystal bowl to her. "You're welcome, Lena."

Dia was always glad to help out. She'd been taught to be polite by her family and it showed. She hoped that this could allow her to make friends... as well as mend any tensions between her and others.

"A-Again, I, um, r-really appreciate it. T-Thank you, Dia." James gave a weak smile, quietly helping himself to the ice-cream.

Of course, with Lena showing up, the young man seemed slightly less uneasy. "H-Hey. You, u-um, d-did pretty w-well up there t-too, S-Si...L-Lena."

Nervously glancing to the side, the blue-haired boy quietly went back to eating.

...Well...I wonder how things are going at the Dorm being...sort of fixed...

Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.

"...well, whatever you say." With a deep breath taken, he swung the pool cue at his arm, just enough for him to feel it and not enough to harm in case something went wrong.

"Thanks." Tasting the ice-cream Lena couldn't help but hum. She was a sucker for sweets like these.

"Eh, it's nothing." She replied with a small laugh at James' compliment. "Everybody can sing like that if they try."

Halle felt a slight twinge of annoyance as Dia and Lena moved in on James. Yes, both of you, you sort of were interrupting something, but you weren't supposed to actually answer that question! So Halle shut her trap and listened.

"You know, your singing had me thinking..." Halle said, sauntering around the group to get a better angle to talk from. "I should get a speaker system. Both for improv karaoke contests and because hey, a loud voice can have some unexpected utility." She shrugged. "You never know. I can't actually sing, because pitch modulation is too easy for me, and, ah, it's more like loading an audio file, but a system for shouting at people, that'd be interesting."

There was still some ice cream left with Dia, as well as a few chocs. She'd been saving one ice cream for her friend Iris.

In the meantime, Dia decided to let Halle's conversation go on. There wasn't anything else she needed to talk about yet, so she listened. (A shout function? Could actually be handy during a huge, noisy fight...)

James just gave a weak smile at Lena. "T-That's...n-not necessarily t-the case, I-I mean, believing y-you can do something if y-you just try d-doesn't...always work...a-and I'm not r-really a s-singer anyway..."

Of course, with Halle speaking up about ironically being louder or easier to hear, the boy glanced to the side.

"W-W-Well, I-I guess y-you could a-add a megaphone t-to w-what you a-already have, I-I mean, t-that'd a-amplify y-your voice without a-anything fancy..."

"O-okay, Morgan...I think I-I know what we c-can sing...", Iris told her girlfriend after eating all the chocolate that Dia gave her. She began whispering in Morgan's ear to tell her the idea she had.

Ragnaros' cue would proceed to bounce off of Baron as if he were swinging it at a steel wall. Rapping his knuckles on the impact point, Duncan would grin like an idiot and say "Didn't feel a thing! Baron here's great for takin' impacts, gets as tough as steel when anythin' hits it or I hit anythin' with it."

Pulling on his gloves, Duncan continued "Basically, I won't feel anythin' short of a truck hittin' me as long as my jacket, gloves or boots take most o' the impact. It's feckin' great isn't it?"

"James, I'm gonna get you on stage one day. Pretty sure you don't give yourself enough credit." She smiled at the bespectacled boy.

"But yeah, a speaker could be handy..." She pondered, folding her arms as if thinking intensely on this. "Say, evacuating civilians. Heck, I think Marv mentioned his dad killing Grimm with his music." She briefly glanced where the Snake Faunus could be.

Huh. He felt a rather nasty feeling of his hand briefly going numb before he folded it in two and hid back in his greatcoat. Thankfully it didn't seem to be worse for wear. "Fancy, but isn't it too specific?" He questioned, frowning a little. "Like, for whatever reason you have to fight without these. What then?"

Duncan shrugged "I fight without 'em in the ring all the time, so I guess I'll just have to fight my hardest in a do or die situation." As he began to pull his gloves off gently, Duncan smiled and said "Besides, it's not like I'm ever goin' t'be fightin' alone as long as my team's got my back."

"...that's a fair point." He chuckled, nodding approvingly. Something told him that Duncan and him would become buddies fast. Not that he minded, quite the contrary.

"Well, I'm not your team, but I can vouch that they will definitely keep your back safe as you keep theirs." Raggy smiled.

"Hey, you can always trust family, right?" Replied Duncan, cheerful as ever (though making a mental note to keep an eye on Yanmin).

Quickly realizing that there was something fairly important that he had to address very soon, Duncan clapped Ragnaros on the shoulder and said "Don't want t'keep you any longer, heard enough of me ramblin' no doubt. I'll see you around brother" before walking off in no particular direction.

Whipping his scroll out once more, Duncan sent a brief message to Gage

Tempestas 29 - Krigsvart Hoedown

The big Highlander's text came just in time to save the other half of a tray of brownies from their summary execution by way of one Merrick Gage. It was noticed that every time he ate, the delinquent seemed to be in a slow-motion eating contest against himself.

It was science at its most mildly-disturbing. Rumor had it that Gage, like the cows he devoured, might be in possession of either four stomachs or a black hole in place of said organ.

His appetite back in force, he took a sip of chocolate milk shake as he responded.

Beaker of milkshake in hand, he sauntered over to Duncan, with whom he'd become fast friends after the incident at the Aquarium.

"'Sup, big man?" He slurped at the frosty treat.

"Well brother, I've got a bit of a favour t'ask of you." Duncan's tone was mildly anxious, but he hid it fairly well. "Since my uncle's workin' for the big leagues now, I'm short a tag team partner n' I've got t'defend the belts or else they'll strip me of 'em. I dunno if it's somethin' I can do alone, so I've go t'ask you brother, you willin' to be my new partner in the ring?"

Tempestas 29 - Krigsvart Festivities

The serious expression on Gage's mien was rather diluted by his foamy brown moustache.

"Hold the phone," he began at last before slugging back the whole drink. Duncan noted he didn't even wince at the resultant brain freeze. "You want trust a dude you've known barely a week with watching your back in a title defense for the tag-team titles of one of Vale's most prestigious indies!?" The bandanna-wearing delinquent's tone was disbelieving and rising in tone with each word.

"... When do we start?"

Duncan shrugged "What can I say, you're the only person around here who I think could actually put on an entertainin' match for the fans." Duncan was a bit reluctant to put the belts he and his uncle had earned together on the waist of someone he barely knew, but it was better than being stripped of the title unfairly. "As for when, I can't say. I'm lookin' t'hear from the guys in charge soon, I'll find a way t'debut you nicely. Just get some ring gear n' some entrance music together when you can"

Magic is happening!

Gage grinned, spinning the beaker on his pointer finger. "Dunc, my man, while every kid dreamt of running away to the circus, I was divebombing kids on the playground. Just lemme know when you need me, I'll get my stuff lined up."

Beaming, Duncan responded "Awesome, I guess we've just got t'find ourselves a team name now don't we?" This is going to be fuckin' awesome! Duncan was incredibly eager to see how Gage would do in his first match, hopefully good enough for the duo to keep the titles for a good while.

Having no one to talk to at the moment, Raggy sauntered back inside, trying to grab someone who wasn't already busy. James was there with Lena, Halle and Dia - that ladies' man - and his teammates seemed to be bothered wth themselves.

Eh.

"Interrupting something?" He greeted his team with a grin.

Scarlet had been dithering by the food table going on ten minutes now when she saw Ragnaros walk over and begin chatting up Marvin and Selene. Good on ya', Boss. Keep 'em distracted for me. And so the biker slipped out of the house while she was reasonably sure no one was looking. Once outside she quickly found a sturdy-looking tree and assumed a combat stance, letting loose with a flurry of blows to try to curb her anger.

-dramatic music ensues-

And now back to our regular player...

"Oh, please, Morgan! This one will be my most popular book yet. I mean, you two are adorable and the readers will definitely think so too!" Carol replied enthusiastically, standing up....and then her face paled and her face twisted in pain.

"A-ah....! M-morgan. C-call your dad and Chris...the baby! The baby!"

Meanwhile, Lena was listening to the other's conversation, happily eating her ice cream. Dia was a nice enough girl, but, wow, she could be disturbing. A talk...maybe a talk will help. Hmm...She'll have to approach her later.

Her boyfriend approached and she smiled at him. "Hey. Sel just demolished me. Just as I thought!"
