I like #2 best. The other two are rather iffy.

1.2 looks photoshopped to me, while 4 isn't really the trope.

Added the options to a crowner.

I have to agree that the Dog-Thing doesn't really illustrate the trope, as it's barely recognizable as a dog. The reason I suggested the cat is because it's also a non-literal example (it's called The Dog Is an Alien, after all), which is good for not making the trope seem too narrow.
