That's kind of in the, "why not?" territory for me. Doesn't say a whole lot, but a cover is a cover.

Check out my fanfiction!Seems kinda pointless to me, but this isn't a hill I'm particularly inclined to die on.
I'm on the fence with this one.
Isn't the cover with the sucker like this◊ more iconic and completely appropriate?
Well, it has a penguin on it, so I think it's better. But other than that very paramount and most importantly relevant detail, flip a coin, I suppose?
Check out my fanfiction!I prefer Willbyr's suggestion because I don't like the cover layout in
I also prefer Willbyr's cover.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI prefer lexicon's suggestion. I kinda like that it references the movie adaptation. And think lexicon's right that it's really iconic.
How is that more iconic though?
The book was never published in my country, and the only cover I've seen prior to this thread is the pictureless one from The Other Wiki.
Alternately, here◊ is the cover for the DVD of Kubrick's film version (the entire cover, not just the front). Since the page covers the film versions as well, it would work, too.

I'm quite happy to go with that, then.
(Annoyed grunt)The original suggestion (1.1, the lips) is fine. Here are a lot of different ones, though: http://www.dezimmer.net/Covering%20Lolita/LoCov.html ... since the article talks about the adaptations too, what about a book cover that uses the heart-shaped-glasses image from the Kubrick movie poster, like the 1976 BRD one?
I pre-emptively object to most of the images with a skirt and legs; I hate that cover, especially 1997 US.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I'd go with the OP just because it doesn't have anything anyone could realistically object to.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMThat seems like a bad reason, I wouldn't want other images to be selected based on being the path of least resistance.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Wow, that is an awesome source. The problem is that now we have too many choices. For some reason, I like this one, but there are more really good covers.

That's one of my favourites from that collection as well, though I still like the OP best.
For ease of crowner creation, the images supported so far are the 2005 US book cover (1)◊, the 1990 BRD book cover (2)◊, the 1980 GB book cover (3)◊, the 1976 BRD book cover (4)◊, and the 1962 movie (special edition DVD) cover (5)◊.
If you want to add options, it would be easy to pick more from the dezimmer.net page.
I didn't want to second my own motion, though. Crowner?

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I agree with you, we should have a crowner.
Blank crowner attached.

Friday votes bump; two in the green.
I'm gonna go ahead and call this one. The new pic's up, and I've copied over the tag from Underboobs, adjusted since the page is unlocked. Locking up.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Lolita has been on the "no pic" list for a long time. Frankly, I think this is absurd; if you can walk into any bookstore in the country and find it without green plastic over the cover, then I think we can have a pic of a cover. Now, that said, GIS has turned up some rather creepy offerings, but I think this one works fine. Thoughts?
EDIT: This is a little low-quality; if it gets the thumbs-up, we can get a better-quality version.
