Suggestion: Divided States Of America

Divided States of America seems to have a similar idea as Expanded States of America, but is actually much worse at illustrating the trope. There are fewer stars, which suggests "fewer states in the Union" as much as "some states broke away", and rotated bars that is supposed to mean "the country lost its way", but relies heavily on a Visual Pun with the message implying something more general than just "the country is divided". I think a map would be a much clearer and direct illustration.

Now that I've seen it, I agree.

EDIT: Some of the regions could be a little hard to read.

I don't think it's important to know exactly what all of the regions are called. The important part is recognising the shape of the continent and that at least some of the names aren't what they used to be, let alone the actual areas.

Easy to read for me, I say.

I generally approve of that map, but the label on the Pacific NW bothers me a bit - Coatal? I assume it was meant to be Coastal.

I found a version without the typo.

10 is very good. The only thing I could find was this map from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

That's not bad, but it's not very visually interesting.
