I have 2 new courses. I made the first one last weekend, but forgot to post it. The second is my first entry to the Super Beard Bros. series.
Boo Singularity (6825-0000-00F7-FF07)
Bespin Infiltration (EB88-0000-0103-CD16)
Hope it was enjoyable and didn't feel like it was poorly designed bullshit like 90% of the stuff out there.
If I starred, then it means I didn't see it as "poorly designed bullshit". I said it confused me because of the similar layouts, which I would usually expect in a Ghost House level rather than an Airship one.
I'll play those soon. I'm almost done with that water level I was making.... because I decided to scrap the original idea as it went nowhere. Now I have a much better idea to implement for a water level.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300Oh boy, I made a real doozy this time.
The Ultimate Enemy: The Camera- 553B-0000-0104-36F7
Basically the closest I could get to a Blackout Basement stage. I know, this kind of premise has the potential for really dickish level design, but I think I made it relatively fair. As long as you take your time, you can see everything coming up. It sure isn't easy though.
I fucking hate Expert Mode. Even with very generous skipping, I always burn through all my lives before I can complete a single course.
Why does Normal have to limit the prizes it can give? Whyyyy?
"It's liberating, realizing you never need to be competent." — UltimatepheerTo force you to git gud.
On the bright side, levels won't get any harder than they already were.
It'd be nice if there were interrmision bonus rooms after courses 5, 10 and 15, where you could stock up on 10 or more 1Ups if you're good at roulette or similar. Still have to earn them, but that way you're not dependent on the generosity of people who are already known to be cruel and sadistic.
I sure said that!I gave up doing Expert. No use in pulling my hair out over some mystery suits.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order.I kept going until I got all of them.
I was so glad to finish. ;p
Then I was able to play levels just for fun.
- Boo Singularity - One of the things I wished to do the most in the game was obliterate a whole army of Boos, and thankfully this level gave me that pleasure. Starred.
- Bespin Infiltration - The most annoying part was the Podoboo spinning in front of Bowser, since it made things more difficult. Either way, fun level. Starred.
- The Ultimate Enemy - The Camera - Very brilliant concept. Levels like this make my day because of their creativity. Starred and downloaded.

135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I made a new course.
It's... an interesting one.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! That sounds fun, I'mma try it soon.
H.B. WardSo I see all these people complaining about Expert mode and I'm like...seriously? I played it for the first time last week and beat it on my first try, albeit with only about thirty lives left. It's really not that bad, provided you skip all the trolling bullshit.
Really not keen on the idea of playing it more than once though.
Not so frustrating for you doesn't mean it's the same for others.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. That was interesting all right. My only criticism is that you only used the one scream sound effect instead of alternating them. It got a little stale.
With Thanksgiving, I got a bit behind in my play of other people's levels - I think I'm due for a big SMM blitz. I think folks are wanting feedback, and I have offered.
I'm also making good progress on my "lots of secrets" level. The non-secret run is mostly complete and pretty playable for all skill levels - I did a dry run of it last night, and if you ignore all the secrets, it's a pretty simple straight shot. That said, it's almost too simple - I'm thinking of adding a few red Paratroopas to make some of the jumps a little more treacherous.
Also, personally, I love this more than I've loved any Mario game previously (dethroning my previous favorite, Super Mario Bros. 2). There are limits that frustrate me, yes, but I think this plugs into some of the things that make Nintendo games great even when you play things that aren't "a Mario level." I'm going to enjoy this for quite some time.
Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. The other one is a scream of fear, not pain. I used it for the people running away from you.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Oh? I could've sworn there were two pain screams. Oh well.
Yeah, same here. I'm a sucker for level editors in general, but this is going to keep me hooked for a long, long time.
Same here, and this comes from someone who loved every installment in the Super Mario series except The Lost Levels (I much prefer the "fake"-but-more-enjoyable counterpart ). I do wish Nintendo could remove or at least extend the element caps, because my intended design in certain levels did have to suffer because of that. It's not the first time Nintendo understimates the intellectual potential of their consumers (say hello, Fi).
I finally finished my problematic water level. Rest assured that I'm not going to do a new one anytime soon, because I just don't know what to do with the swimming physics, and the aforementioned caps only make it more frustrating.
135 - 169 - 273 - 191 - 188 - 230 - 300I mainly dislike the cap on solid ground. I've never really hit the cap on enemies or items except when deliberately creating something idiotic.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! All I make are idiotic levels based on springs or other stupid concepts, but I've found the limit in about thirty percent of the levels I've made. The only level I actually hit the limit on actual ground tiles was when I tried to make a serious level with a main world and a "cloud zone" as the subworld.
I hit the limit on my "Tower of Power" level because I had to fill the spaces between sections with something.
Reaction Image Repository...I hate the block limit.
H.B. WardI had that issue with Montgomery Mole's Mineshaft.
A good idea is to fill those large spaces with semi-solid blocks. Can be stretched to huge sizes yet only count as one object.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Yeah, I thought about that (And used it in my jailbreak level), but in that case I was being dumb and didn't think of it until I was mostly done, and by then it wasn't worth going back to change everything.
