https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnet_school
It's the US name for a specialized school intended to filter students into specific post-secondary fields. Peter goes to a science school, but there are schools for music, arts, trades, and so on and so forth. Kids are pulled from across districts even if another public school might technically be closer to where they live.
This movie was baller.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Didn't like the movie. I found it to be meh and the only great parts being Keaton, RDJ, and Aunt May. Glover was cool too.
Did anyone else think Donald Glover was a little...phoned in in this? Usually he's a great actor, but here it seems like he didn't put his all into it. I don't know why he would be so bad in this, but he was just a cameo anyway, so I guess it's not a huge deal.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541I think he just didn't have much to do. He's a sympathetic criminal but not one of the main villains, which means he's not evil enough to go all crazy and be a One-Scene Wonder, and doesn't have enough screen time to put more nuance into his performance. I'm sure if they had let him go all out he could have been pretty awesome even with his limited time, but his character just wasn't important enough for that.
They're setting him up to recur, and being discouraged by how his life has turned out sounds like about the right note to start out with for Prowler, if they're going to be introducing Miles Morales eventually.
Any one else kinda hate how Tony and Happy treat Peter in this? Tony, especially. He drags Peter into a huge battle between the Avengers, then just dumps him without any real guidance. And any time Peter tries to contact Happy or Tony, no one seems interested in actually listening to his concerns. Throughout the movie I just felt bad for Peter. I loved the movie, but their behavior towards Peter was frustrating to watch some times.
"In 900 years of time and space I've never met anyone who wasn't important."It's pretty much acknowledged that Tony was kinda a jerk to Peter.
Also, I just realized: issues about how she's MJ In Name Only aside, the way she's used in the movie is actually somewhat similar to how MJ was used in the comics before actually revealing herself:
Always alluded to by her own aunt, and being shown with her face hidden. The movie chose to replicate that, but instead of hiding her face, they hid her identity. She's always showing up in the background and all, but we don't really see her until the end of the movie.
When you take in that one issue of The Untold Tales of Spiderman (which reveals that she'd known Peter's identity from the very start), then it works even better.
Try and tell me I'm wrong. I dare you.
...actually, don't do that. I'm totally right.
One Strip! One Strip!I am positive that they're working up to that scene where MJ reveals to Peter that he's Spider-Man. She definitely knows.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I don't think that's on purpose. I think if they really wanted to call back to that, they would have changed the scene so that they could have used the tiger line.
I mean, it would have been out of character but the fact that it would have been out of character is the problem.

This song needs more love.I'd like to hear the iconic jackpot line if possible.
Also yeah Tony & Happy were assholes in this movie. Thankfully there never gonna appear in another Spidey movie again.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The scene where the jackpot line comes from and the scene Tobias is referring to are different.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Yeah I was responding to Rob.
This song needs more love.Oops. Ignore what I said.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I get the feeling that Tony was intentionally keeping his distance because he knows he's a bad influence. He was still following all his reports because he is very invested in Peter's future
Happy was a jerk because he felt like Peter was foisted on him. And because he's insecure that he's only around because Tony likes him
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI can't get hung up on her not saying the "Jackpot" line when Uncle Ben didn't even say the "great responsibility" line.
I mean, to be fair, that wasn't originally his line at all. It was actually said by the narrator in Amazing Fantasy #15. But it's still considered to be his iconic line.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.People tend to forget because "face it tiger, you just hit the jackpot" sounds like someone a real person might reasonably say that her next line was "Petey-O, you’re right from Groovesville! I never thought a Tiger who wore his hair so short could be so dreamy! And you've a bouncin' bike too! Dad, you're the end!"
Forever liveblogging the AvengersShe actually did say the line though.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well it WAS the 60's after all. Out of the lines I've heard from comics of the era, it's not even close to being the silliest.

Never forget when Deadpool traveled back in time to one of Spidey's early comics and was entirely befuddled by everyone's impenetrable 60's lingo◊. And Harry's hair◊.
Blind Al was also flabbergasted by MJ's spaced-out personality◊

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'd like it if Happy appeared in the next film, even if the actor doesn't.
Something like what a lot of people have suggested.
Peter sends a email or text to him in the opening, paralleling the first film, but he instead sends it as a weekly update type thing.
Then 20 minutes later in the film have him reply with something like: "Thanks Peter, passed X piece of relevant info on. Also be careful about plot relevant Y."
And Y could lead into Peter stumbling onto the villain of the film. Or maybe letting him get a clue for continuing to investigate the villain he's already looking into.
I really like that idea. It's good characterization.
I feel like Tony and/or Happy more or less have to appear in the next one, because never getting to see Aunt May verbally rip into them now that she knows what Peter's internship really is would be a terrible missed opportunity.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I doubt that Tony will be showing up if RDJ will be done after Phase 3.
Oh God! Natural light!
A what?
