I think cutting the first panel off the current would be sufficient. The Garfield strips are good for examples but won't work for page pics, and I'm not sure what could be taken from the XKCD strip to work.
Cutting the first panel off the current removs the whole set-up that the mallet is supposed to increase understanding.
How about this jiggering of the xkcd ( I know, it's really tall... ):

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.That's still a lot of text, height aside. How about just the last two panels? Even then, I'm unsure.
I finally found the original ''Pearls'' strip; as I suspected, the current image is using the entire thing.
In the mean time, here are a couple Garfield strips that might work with just two panels: 1, 2
Both the Garfield strips would work if they weren't subversions of the trope.

Clock is set. The current will be pulled regardless of what happens.
How about the xkcd comic with panels 1,2 & 5.
1. Make Site 2. Get Data 3. Do something?
I have two concerns about this page's image:
As far as possible replacements go, xkcd has this very detailed discussion (perhaps too detailed). Garfield has a couple strips that provide simpler illustrations, but we'd probably have to use 90% of a strip to make it work (by which I mean using the first two panels and putting the punchline in the caption), which doesn't seem like much of an improvement as far as copyright issues are concerned.
