Dude.
I don't really believe in "wait until the trailer comes out" unless we really don't have anything. We've had producers warn us to keep an "open mind" and we've gotten a plot synopsis, which so far sounds like it spits in the face of Megaman fans and once again tries to reinvent a classic character for a modern audience, instead of just making the show about the game it's named after. They're not giving us any reason to look forward to this, other than perhaps the sheer lack of Megaman cartoons. "It's better than nothing," right?
I mean, even if the show doesn't look like a banged up dog turd that slid down the block on a rainy afternoon and mixed in with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich some kid dropped on the sidewalk, even if this show has some amazing vocal talents attached to it - there is nothing about the pitch of "Megaman goes to high school and fights crime as a super robot boy!" that doesn't make me want to punch the person responsible. That's like walking up to Disney and going, "You know what would be great for Mickey Mouse? If we did a new series where he's actually a hard-boiled, hard-drinking private detective and none of his former supporting characters appeared!"
Can't stop me from b'tchin. I've watched Walking Dead, Dexter, Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans Go, and Arrow and not outright hated them like the rest of the internet, I've earned the right to b'tch pre-emptively!
Not going to b'tch about it incessantly but I'm still wary.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!hey, look at the bright side, we might as well make our own cartoon company and revive the once dead era of action cartoons. sounds good to you?
MIADisney was not thrilled with the first draft of Kingdom Hearts.
Also, I get a radical Retool if this was 2003 and they didn't want to be accused of knocking off Astro Boy, but it's 2017 when this hits. You can be faithful.
Alright, I chuckled, and I like Kingdom Hearts.
And I mean, Mega Man has an easily expandable premise. The video games have a bare-bones plot: Wily takes over an army of robots, Light sends Mega Man to stop him, the PLAYER chooses what order he fights them in, Mega Man confronts Wily and saves the day. Ad nauseam.
There's so much you can do with that. Cartoons used to have characters go on incredible adventures around the world or even into outer space, or have encounters with supernatural creatures - Exosquad, Gargoyles, Beast Wars, Spider Man, the Magic School Bus FFS. Now it's like networks only feel comfortable if it's extremely silly, surreal, or if it takes place in a school setting.
I wouldn't be opposed to the school setting if this was set maybe after Megaman 1 and Light was just trying to give Rock and Roll an ordinary life, but it doesn't seem game canon is going to be referenced at all here. The futuristic, sci-fi setting and plot of Megaman are so vague and open, the decision to just use a school setting/plot actually seems lazy.
On the other hand - Sonic Boom reinvents Sonic and puts him on an island with only 6-8 of his previous cast members returning, and I like that show for being a 15-minute comedy short. . But Sonic Boom is still atypical - nobody's going to school, nobody's being a typical child, they live in an unnamed village and the show is very aware of just how ho-hum it can be, and how fans perceive it, so the Meta Humor keeps me slightly engaged.
That's where I have optimism for this show - there's really no telling what they're going for: ordinary Slice of Life with Megaman learning life lessons through battling robots, an action cartoon with a running storyline like NT Warrior, a comedy where fighting robots takes a backseat to Megaman's misadventures, or some combination of the three.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!But do we really want a comedic Rockman or the one that we got from the Anime OVA? Because the comedy seems more fit for a series about Mega Man Legends
"We be we baby!"how about focus less on the comdey and maybe more on something else.
MIABecause animation is comedy only, unless you're on Netflix. Then you can get action shows.
no wonder i wanna pitch my show to amazon or Netflix but most likely amazon because i can submit my screenplay that way.
MIAAmazon doesn't have any action cartoons yet, though, since Niko and the Sword of Light hasn't premiered, and Netflix only has Voltron and arguably Puss in Boots.
Network TV is doing only a little better. There's Star Wars Rebels and the Marvel cartoons, though I really don't pay attention to the latter. Justice League Action could actually change things as long as CN treats it well this time.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Netflix also has Troll Hunters coming out in December from Guilemero Del Toro.
And it looks like JLA is going to be thrown on at 6am and forgotten if recent news is any indication.

Is the new Ben 10 really that bad? And (to be honest) is it really much worse than the original series isnote ?
It's kinda bad, generic and its has no redeeming qualities to make up for it.
@Soble
And you have the right to be wary of its quality, I know I am. But as far as judgement goes, I prefer to reserve them until some footage of the show is given, instead of just assumed it is doomed due to who is behind it, one still image and little detail.
And on that whole Ben 10 reboot comparison, that was in response to what everybody else pointing out how this show is going to end up like that. Plus that show was actually release, and I found it pretty bland upon seeing it in action.
See, honestly, all those criticisms are what I thought of the original Ben 10, so I'm not seeing how that's much worse.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.No. Redeeming. Qualities. I said. Ben 10 had good designs, creative aliens, good animation. This doesn't have that. It doesn't have good humor or plot or anything. Basically anything you disliked in original is worse here, maybe except humor which was always nonexistent and heroes are more bland then unlikable.
But you know. That's opinion. You can believe it or not. You can check cartoon or not. Your choice.
I have to agree on Sunchet on this. I pretty much prefer the original's character designs, tone and action scenes over the new one which suffers the same problems the PPG Reboot is having.
Well, okay, fair. While I didn't like the original, I mostly thought it was unremarkable and bog standard. If what you say is true, I don't think I ever wanna see the reboot.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here. What's there to trash about? We hardly got a trailer that shows anything worth bitching about.
Then what the Heck was the point of the thread? Just moan about something you've never seen?
MIAPoint of the thread is to discuss any information related to show: including articles, trailers/clips and the episode itself. And quite frankly, there's not much to discuss besides bitching about how its "not good" its going to be even though all we receive is a picture and small details on what the show is about; and just bitching will just get the thread close faster than you can say Prom Night 2011 . . . why do I keep reminding myself of my shitty sex life?
hahaha. I like you.
MIA2 b honest, Im not sure why do we make threads to shows before even trailer comes out.
I feel inclined to say that I personally believe it's kind of in our nature to talk about stuff like this the second we hear literally anything about it.
And besides, it's not our fault that there's so much radio silence, is it?
I mean, I don't have a master's degree about this kind of thing, but I want to say that this whole "getting people ready for your upcoming show" thing is essentially a two-way street:
It's on the staff of the series to show us stuff that will get us to watch their show and what have they given us so far?
- A still image of what appears to be a cel-shaded Mega Man if it was rendered by an extremely amateur CG artist,
- an evident lack of knowledge regarding the characters of the Mega Man mythos,
- and Tweets that boil down to "please please please give us a chance."
No offense, but it looks like none of those 3 things have given us reason to make room in our lives for the premiere of the first episode.
What's more, whoever thought it was a great idea to recruit Man of Action of all people to join in on this should probably take some time to reevaluate what he (or she) thinks would get people to think "hey, maybe I'll dedicate some time to watch this upcoming series."
Sure, it'd be nice to get more info from them regarding the show, but given the reception of what they have shown us, it wouldn't be improbable to assume that A) they're experiencing cold feet regarding when they'll share more info (if at all) or B) their bosses are berating them for being a bunch of incompetent troglodytes when the blame should really be on the bosses themselves for hiring these people to begin with.
EDIT: Also, happy 300th post, everyone!
