Poor Image: Action Girl.Video Games

The current picture is of very low quality, plus the angle makes it quite hard to see what is it; it's a very poor illustration overall.

Now, that's hardly a subject where it's hard to find plenty good pictures. Lara Croft is already on the main trope page, so maybe we'd want to avoid redundancy, but there's plenty other options: [1] [2] [3]

I'd rather have an image of a woman doing something, rather than posing in an empty image.

What does 3.2 show?

Probably need something where they are kicking ass or about to lets see.

I like Here is a nice Lightning one◊ Properly cropped this could look good◊ This too could work◊[1]◊.

Yuna could work too.◊ so could X-2's Paine◊.

Lighting in Cloud's outfit an sword could work quite well.◊

I like 3.1. It has the clearest illustration while actually showing the girl kicking some ass, and not just striking and ass-kicking pose.

That's a lot of images here. I am not sure I can properly decide in favour of any of them.

Ok this one looks pretty good for a page image, simple white background.

As I said (and I believe Adept agrees with), I think the plain white background detracts from the image. Or rather, it adds absolutely nothing, while an actual action scene adds a lot more to illustrate an action girl. That's what I like about the Lara main page image: She's swinging in a vine and shooting, not just posing for a photo shoot.

Or maybe we can just move the Lara image to this subpage and find a standalone image of an Action Girl, which I'm sure exists in vast numbers in wallpaper sites or something.

I think I'd prefer adding images to a few more subpages before that.

1.3 and 3.1 are the only ones that actually demonstrate the 'action' part so far, and of the two 3.1 does it better.

Greatly prefer Faith to Lightning, FWIW. Either 3.1 or 3.2 work for me - I actually lean toward 3.2, but everyone else seems to be in favor of 3.1, so that's fine too.

I lean toward 3.2 (8) too. It is also actioney, and looks cooler IMO, and is a picture of only her (not her and someone else).

That ain't Lightning, by the way; it's her sister.

3.2 (which to me looks less blurry than 8) is good for me as well. Awesome graphics too.

It was just a quick resize (and slight horizontal crop to minimize resize need) with the default GIMP settings because the loading on the source page seemed iffy. That's usually fine, but the source image here is very crisp at full resolution, so downsizing does come with a significant quality loss no matter how you do it.

Anyway, I can maybe get a slightly sharper image, if that's the one we decide to go with (or if someone else want to have a go at it). I'm still fine with either of the ones I suggested.

No doubt this will need a crowner and image links page. There is no other way.
