Kite, A High All-Around Fantasy RP (Mature Only) Interest Check

It may not be much at the moment, but I'll be adding more stuff to it little by little, as as we learn things in the game as well, so it'll always be there as a constant refresher in case anyone needs to remind themselves what some things are.

Edit: Yeah, Grogs are dangerous... though, I do have a few more hidden surprises in the forest as well. Wouldn't be fun if they were the only things in there, now would it? Those bears aren't tough for nothing!

Name: Takehaya Hayate...Takehaya's my surname.

Age: 16

Sex: Male

Appearance: I'm 5'10, Japanese by blood, and I got a fair bit of muscle on me, though I'm built more for running than weightlifting. In terms of looks? I guess I look alright...my hair's messy and the typical black colour and my eyes are the colour of storm clouds, which is kinda unique. Although I do have an old scar on my left shoulder, about an inch long. On a typical day I wear a dark hooded jacket, grey shirt, blue jeans and army boots.

Personality: I'm fairly coolheaded and I'd like to think that I'd be someone who's fairly easy to get along with but...well, I'm not someone most people would consider a role model. I'm one of society's outcasts, nobody gives a fuck about us, so we have to look out for each other. I was raised to be a damn good thief; it's a part of my livelihood, so I don't see anything wrong with it. Still, if I can help it, I mainly target stuff like sandwiches, water bottles, or the odd newspaper and book...common shit that nobody'd miss. I guess I'm also more sympathetic to the beggars and thieves...the lower class in general. Like I said, Outcasts look out for each other. If they got a good reason to ask for my help, who am I to refuse? Heh...I guess there's also loyalty. Loyalty's a big deal for us...people like me are trusted to share what we take with the rest of the camp, and we trust the camp to not rat us out. I don't trust people easy...it comes with the lifestyle and social class. But if someone's earned it, they're practically family to me. And family's a BIG deal, coming from an orphan like me.

Background: Well my history's not exactly your typical sob story. I was apparently abandoned as a baby and left on a park bench. One of the hobos found me and took me to one of the homeless camps in the seedier parts of the city. Food wasn't exactly plentiful in the camp, but the people were kind enough to take me in and raise me. I learned how to read and write from books taken from the public library, and the veterans in camp taught me how to survive as one of society's underdogs, I learned how to defend myself from muggers and gang members and how to move around the city unseen, and in return, I'd go around the city to bring food, water and other stuff for the camp. Since I'm in a new world, maybe I can do the same here...

Powers: My power seems to be linked to darkness...shadows in particular. The first thing I noticed was that I have perfect night vision, and can see as clearly in complete darkness as I can in the day. I can use the shadows hide my presence, making it harder for others to sense me in the dark. I suspect that this is an ability that will require more practice. I can use the shadows to travel unimpeded by walls or obstacles, so long as it there is a shadow within range. So far, my range is only 15 meters.

Another perk is that I can manipulate existing shadows to attack, defend or interact with the world. Since I have only just discovered this, I am only able to make simple constructs such as a shadow tendril that is very versatile in terms of usage, a dome of shadows to block group attacks, and a blade the size of a short-sword. However, the shadow constructs lose form if they go beyond 5 meters away from me, and the construct's size is limited to the size of the original shadow. I will need to practice this ability more...and learn how to better use a blade in the near future.

Personal Motive: My goal? Well...if I can't return home, I guess it would be to see if I can do some good around here. I was lucky enough to be taught how to survive, but other groups aren't. Even if I don't need to steal, I can still do odd jobs...

Mementos: The only memento I still have on me is my collapsible baton. It's my go-to melee weapon, and saved my skin from muggers more times than I can count.

I think you guys beat yourself up too much, honestly. They are all very good in my book. :)

@Daydre: That's an extremely good question (by the way I love that avatar).

I do have a rather large plot in store for you all, however I am not the kind of person who will simply nail down a track and force you all to follow a railroad of sorts, and whether or not you all choose to follow this is entirely up to you.

Remember, the 'main' plot is in order to save both worlds and to go back to the real world; YOUR world. Whether you wish to go back there or not is up to you, but eventually you will have to complete the main plot in order to save both Kite and your world.

Just try to progress for the most part as a group, basically.

@svenorzokarkoff: Very intriguing... I think Hayate will make an interesting addition to the group, and that his shadow abilities will prove to be a valuable asset as well! He is happily accepted!

• Sex: Yes please—- I mean male
• Appearance: Okay, well I'm a little fat. Okay, maybe not a little. I'm fat. I'm trying to slim down, but sucess has been moderate. I'm also rather tall and broad- about 1.85 m if you ask. I have brown eyes, tan skin, an awesome bandido moustache which some people ridicule and scruffy short hair. I used to be as blind as mole and in need of glasses, but since I entered this world I don't need them. Curious, huh?

• Personality: I'm a guy who likes his personal space, so I don't like crowds, and excessively pushy people. Heck, I am so introverted I even hesitate when i have to adress strangers. Besides that, I'm an okay-ish guy of sort, bit depressive and with low self esteem, but one who's kind and usually takes jokes well, and often talks joking. I like to know about everything sciency-ish, and I'm a big fan of fantasy, pen and paper roleplaying, history and tales of chivalry. I am also a man of honor, and I like to uphold my given word as much as I can. I suffer no cheaters, no liars and I despise malicious people. I am aware I have a darker side when angered and I can be pretty vindictive with people I think deserve some comeuppance, but you have to try hard to make me draw that line, I assure you.

• Background: Okay, I'm a guy from hispanic descent, but that's a given granted my name is Ricardo. I had enough sense when I was a kid to endure, shut up and learn. So I didn't fall in the easy way outs of being a teenager delinquent and I was diligent in my studies. It paid off big as I became a scientist of sorts, and not half bad at it.

But well, things didn't go as I had planned in my mind. I was squeezed without mercy by unscrupulous losses and I could qualify my social life as anecdotical and non existant. I was the target of professional bullying and that almost made me break. Until I drew the line and stood up, exposing the scumbags of my bosses in the process. I was fired. But hey, at least I watched them drowning in lawsuits by other people and being mercilessly devoured by the system. Time to start anew, I guess. But that wasn't working for some reason and I ended up as a borderline-depressed hermit unable to find job or friends. Kinda sucks.

• Powers: You mean, besides the talking voice? GET OUT OF MY HEAD ITS PRIVATE. Just kidding. Well, I could also count my ability to do SCIENCE! but that doesn't work in this world doesn't it? Bugger. Ah there's something else. Even since I set foot on this kind of Middle-Earth-meets-Elm-Street knockoff some weird knowledge is nesting inside my brain folds. I'd say they are magic recipes. So yes, I might be on my way to become a wizard. But pretty much the only thing I can do now is heal some stuff (like I did with my bad eyesight), levitate a bit and toss some kind of sparkly fizzly magic ball... and I have to do the whole hand waving, concentrating, chanting and sometimes using ritual stuff, i guess. I'll probably get better at it though. Knowledge is power and that.

• Personal Motive:This one's a no brainer. I want a decent living, a cute wife, a couple of kids and live a mostly calm and quiet life. But hey, I can't turn a blind eye to an honest plea for help so I'll tag along in the adventure. Heck, I might also find cute fantasy girls aswell. And the perspective of a lifelong study of this world is also appealing, too...

• Mementos: My old scientist ID card. It's now just a piece of plastic, but it makes me remember the best of me, on how I helped humanity as whole developing knowledge.

I have to say that I really do like Rickie, and considering he does reminds me of someone I know I just have to accept him. Nicely done! Just be careful when going for that bear hug, alright?

To be honest, but at this rate we could potentially start later today or tomorrow, considering I'm planning to have around eight players in total. I wont be playing a character just as a heads up since I see it as a way of getting in the way of being a gm, besides I'll be too busy running everything.

Thanks, It's possibly one of the most self-experience based characters I've ever done.

Before I write up my character (because my internet is being a jerk and refreshing these mid-post), what do you think of him having Creation powers that require actually detailing the creation to get what he wants or someone who can manifest (non-magical) objects at will?

That is perfectly fine!

There is no shame in wanting to put everything we have in our characters, and the kind of adventure I have in store for us in Kite, I'd encourage a bit of self-experience actually since I do want everyone in this rp to feel truly attached to their characters.

Ah! I like the former much more as a starter ability than I do the latter, however, with practice I do believe he can accomplish a combination of both later on. Although, I think you would have to write out the ability completely for me to fully understand what you are going for in terms of creativity. (example: painter who can draw things into creation, thinker who can make things pop into existence, alchemist who can summon things, etc.)

@Patch: Thanks. I think that Hayate's slightly skewed sense of right and wrong will make for some interesting talk with some of the other group members.

Name: I'm Elize Bhukwana.

Age: 18. Last time I checked, anyway. I've already forgotten the date in here... I've also forgotten to ask the nurses about it. My fault, I guess.

Sex: Female.

Appearance: Well, I'm pretty average in terms of height, about 5' 6". I'm also black, and I guess I'm kinda attractive? In, like, a petite, nerd girl kind of way. I have glasses that people have always said make me look more attractive, and I'm actually inclined to agree with them. They don't really do much though. I usually wear various nerdy shirts and jeans, though now I'm dressed in a hospital gown. My hair is a nice dark brown, and I usually keep it down, so it reaches to about my mid-back. Oh, and I have that one weird disorder where your eyes look like they have no irises, aniridia. It's always made me have shit vision, but now that I'm here in Kite, I can see perfectly fine.

Personality: Uh, well, I'm pretty nerdy. I'm into Pokemon, Homestuck, Brave Frontier, things like that. I also play Yu-gi-oh online, as something of a Guilty Pleasure. batterymen best deck I'm a member of TVTropes as well. I'm usually fairly relaxed, though lately I've been higher-strung than an Irish fiddle. I wonder why. I usually swear waaaaay more than anyone else I know, though it's mitigated a bit by my tendency to curse in both of my parents' native languages.

Background: My background is pretty much normal. My dad is Zulu and my mom is Afrikaner, so I'm fluent is both isiZulu and Afrikaans. They got married in Pretoria, South Africa, and we lived there for a few years before Mom got a job in America as a computer engineer, so then we moved to Raleigh, North Carolina. We were pretty happy there, and we still live there today, actually. I was a good kid, generally. Good grades, made friends, didn't get in fights. (Well, not very many, anyway.) Our neighborhood was really diverse, so my best friends ended up being Taiwanese, Armenian, and Cherokee. We made quite the interesting group, as I recall. Yep, everything was pretty great... And then I was diagnosed with brain cancer. Yeah. It was just under a week ago, as well.

Things since then have been... not fun. I've been in and out of the hospital 24/7, and I was just about to go under chemotherapy when I came here, to Kite. It was nice to see the massive outpouring of support that I got, though, even from people who I thought didn't like me.

Powers: I can summon things into existence from works of fiction, which is really really cool! Only from ones that I like, though; when I tried to summon Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way, it didn't work. I'm fine with that though. As of right now, I can't do anything other than imps, level 3 and lower monsters, unevolved Pokemon, and suchlike, but hopefully my power will scale with time. I also have a max of 3 summoned things at a time, though they can all be from different franchises.

Personal Motive: I... I don't know. On the one hand, I really want to see my parents and everyone again, but if I do, I'm pretty much guaranteed to die of cancer. If I could find a way to go back and forth between the worlds, or bring my loved ones over to Kite, that'd be ideal, I think.

Mementos: My stuffed panda. I know it sounds silly, but I've had him since I was 2, and I'd rather not lose him now.

• Name: Jacques Phoenix

• Age: 18

• Sex: Male.

• Appearance: Tall, with a large build that would probably be good on a rugby team, but not all that fit. Short, light brown hair that barely reaches the ears at it's longest. The face is pretty much emotionless normally, but always looks as if either a smile or a grimace tugs at it. Wears glasses with a blue frame over his green eyes. He wears t-shirts and shorts, since he comes from South Africa, and anything longer is a deathwish in the heat. He also has a wristwatch on his arm, and wears sandals, just for the comfort of them. His skin is white, pale.

• Personality: Intelligent, but not very serious most of the time. Mostly laid back, barely trying the best unless the situation demands it. Despite his shyness, he's very friendly and has a good sense of humour, as well as being extremely tolerant. Once he trusts someone enough, his loyalty will never waver. He's also benevolent, always trying to find a solution that benefits anyone, most of the time even if it's at his own expense. He's pacifistic, but won't hesitate to fight to protect himself or others, and when that happens, his normally laid back attitude is replaced with a determined seriousness. He's also not very sure of himself when he does something he's never done before.

• Background: He was your average intelligent kid in school. The one who was always picked on, despite the fact that he was much larger than those who did. His pacifistic nature was just natural to him, he didn't like hurting people. But after a while, when his classmates matured and it the bullying stopped, he gradually came out of his shell, actually trying to make a friend or two. Of course, he's slow to trust after all those years, and still pretty much a loner. Still, being one of the smartest people in class was worthy of respect, and he was consistently in the top 5. And then, of course, he came to Kite, and a whole new adventure awaits him...

• Powers: *Good memory: He had this before he came to Kite, and it's actually the source of his wide general knowledge.
  • Black magic:He's been an avid RPG fan, and always loved being the Black Mage. Fitting enough, as he views brute force as barbaric, and intelligence is the real weapon of choice. He can do all the classic black magic, mostly of Final Fantasy origin, but with his own twist on it. Of course, this comes at the cost of his physical stamina and fortitude.

  • Weapon skills: Although he freaks out in close combat, he's pretty proficient with a blade and a staff, at least more than your average person. If he gets his hands on a katana and scabbard, his love of Iaido as it's depicted in video games (Think Vergil from Devil May Cry) will let him mimic them, but only weakly.

  • Quick learner: He likes to know things, and because he enjoys it, he learns faster, especially through reading. It's from before he came to Kite.

  • A small smattering of White Magic: His pacifistic nature naturally means he knows a bit about healing. Don't expect him to go around spitting out the greatest healing spells though. It's just basic skills.

• Mementos:
  • He keeps a small golden clock, shaped like a robot as depicted in the old movies. It was an old gift from his great grandmother, who he loved very dearly. It fits in his pocket.

I hope this is ok? Overall, I think it's a decent mage character.

Oh, and some stuff came up today so I'm delaying the rp's start until tomorrow (this will also give me some time to fine tune stuff as well). I'm incredibly sorry for the wait, but it was somewhat serious.
