Which one do you prefer? I personally prefer Steven Universe since it is more developed, deeper plot and there are more likable characters. I did watch Star back in January, but I did not like it. I try to get into it, but the show has a sitcom atmosphere and it was nothing I has in mind.

i don't mind it. these shows came out around the same time and have a similar tone and setting; it could be fun to compare and contrast.

Steven Universe came out way before Star? (If like a year and a half is considered way.)

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

yeah, i'll give ya that; Steven has a full season headstart on Star, but they'll be running congruently now and i can see a few comparisons.

Well, so far, Star is more about comedy in whole compared to Steven, while The crystal gems have had years of experience fighting these kinds of monsters. Chances are they would have murdered all the villains in Star's universe.

I'd hope for an analysis of which Magical Girl tropes each show goes after...

I put my money on Forces of Evil, though the fact that they're fighting Star and Steven might be tricky.

I clicked this post hoping to read about an all-out three way battle between the Forces of Evil, Steven, and Star.

I am very disappointed.

Sorry - but I think neither show wins unless you're on Tumblr - where the echo chamber is far too loud to appreciate anything else. And that sucks! TBH with all of you...

Clarence, The Amazing Worldof Gumball, and Randy Cunningham Ninth Grade Ninja beat BOTH these shows out in some cases, at least IMHO (especially Clarence to Steven Universe)... Hell, Penn Zero Part Time Hero is still a far better show in my eyes, right now - at least comparing THAT to Star Vs. I don't find Star Vs. all that funny, overall, TBH (and don't fucking get me started on how much I don't like the school setting...). I only watch said show for the action - Penn Zero, at least IMHO, has at least beaten it on most categories I can judge a show on so far, TBH.

Then again, Gravity Falls is better than all of my choices for what's not be pitted up here, anyway, so there's that, too.

And I'm dead serious on everything I just said. Thank You and have a nice day, everyone.

Anyways, I say in the case of magic girl tropes, Star would have the more Sailor Moon references while SU would be based on more likely Senren Kagura. Star wins with authenticity.

[up][up][up] Its incredible how much I agree with you and how much I want to disagree with you out of spite over your attitude. I really do think all those shows are better but your attitude is extremely ofputting. And this is a VERY specific question, you cant just pull a third choice from your behind. Even that would have been forgiven without that attitude.

Steven Universe! But the obvious winner is Gravity Falls. I did not like Star at all.

Yeah. While I watch Steven Universe more than the other two I do think Gravity Falls is better. Then again, I dont throw "lesser" high quality cartoons into the trash just because its better. I appreciate all of them. Sure there is actual crap out there that deserves our scorn, but we should appreciate the few good cartoons we get.

I'm more partial to Star, but I did love what I saw of Steven U before I kinda stopped watching it(I think the last episode I saw new was Tiger Millionaire and the most recent episode I saw was Space Race, however I just caught that one at random. That's just the most recent aired episode I saw.) and what I've seen from the more recent episodes SU looks really good. SU does have the advantage of having more arc and character development as well as starting earlier. But I'm certain Star will start getting more popular later this season when it starts to start its arcs(I'm still betting on an arc about Marco's Monster arm and Saint Olga's).

Steven Universe didn't grab me immediately. I found the first few episodes sweet and goofy and overall just kind of innocuous: I liked it but I didn't feel strongly about it. It got better as it built plot and characterisation and (for me anyway) it's just recently got really good. I think Svt Fo E could play out the same way. I love the art, premise and protagonists. At the moment the main flaw is that it's a little... insubstantial, perhaps? I think it could grow to be more. Do we think they'll start doing more in the way of continuing plotlines?

[up]Like I said before, Darren(the creator of Sv T Fo E) mentioned that later on in the series their will be more arcs. Just gonna have to wait a while like a lot of cartoons with arcs in recent times.

I think the big question of that show is, is Alan Tudyk really the main bad guy? evil grin

I honestly doubt it. There's gonna be a bigger bad than Ludo(Alan's character). Whether it be the monster arm or someone from St. Olga's(either employee or prisoner) or maybe a family member of Ludo's or hell, it could even be Brittney Wong(the Alpha Bitch) Point is, Ludo is probably not gonna end up being the big bad for the whole show.

Wait, Alan Tudyk is Ludo? I never expected my favourite space pilot to become a serial villain voice actor with so much range I can't even tell when it's him.
