Discuss the children's anti-bullying movie that got reviewed by Yourmoviesucks DO Torg here.

It's So Bad, It's Good.

I've known about this one for a while. The Synchtube tropers group watched the film.

I literally could not get through it, it's that bad.

Still, you gotta love a film with a character who thinks that the best thing to do with a gun is to take everyone's lunch money.

Yeah, I'm sure it'd be unbearable if you watch it without seeing that review first.

And even then the movie by itself would still be along the lines of So Bad Its Horrible.

This Cool Cat can't even compare. That Cool Cat had Larry Storch as the voice, which gives him a better rating.

Here, incidentally, is the trailer:

"Cool Cat is cooler than Barney the Dinosaur!"

OK, you got my attention there, bud.

[up] That's not hard, though.

OP: We in the Synchtube Coven watched it a couple of months ago, without any reviews, but with a lot of warm-up (namely, discovering the life and career of Derek Savage).

It was one of those Love It or Hate It movies: some people thought it was hilarious (e.g. me), most thought it was horrible. The average score given by our group was 1 star because of this divisivenessnote .

Remember, folks: Cool Cat loves YOU!

[up]Our ratings scale was not designed for a movie like Cool Cat Saves the Kids. Even if our voting pool wasn't nearly as spread out and varied as it was, no averaged rating that we could assign it would have adequately explained the sum of all its parts.

Cool Cat Saves the Kids is a rare "perfectly imperfect" object that transcends any measurable quality of viewing/experiencing/grading a piece of art. In the end, the only thing that matters is figuring out how the hell something like this even got made in the first place, and in getting to the bottom of those answers, that's where Cool Cat grows into the stuff of Z-movie legend, on par with the storied behind-the-scenes shenanigans of Plan 9 from Outer Space, The Room, and Foodfight!

If you missed it with the Synchtube Coven, I implore everyone to check out the write-ups we put together on several of the main figures involved in its creation:

Other Assorted Weirdness:

  • The most accomplished person (apart from Mr. Estrada and Ms. Fox) who receives a credit for this movie is the film/sound editor (which is surprising, given how terribly bad both the editing and sound really are, but between 1982 and 2007, James Christopher worked in various capacities in the sound department on an average of two feature films every year—several of which I'm sure you've heard of before—before working exclusively with Derek Savage since 2012)
  • No fewer than three (3) people are credited with portraying the role of "Momma Cat".
    • Jennifer Kersey found herself wearing the costume ONCE, during filming of the "Cool Cat Finds a Gun" short in 2013. For her part, she received credit as "Momma Cat Mascot" in the completed feature.
    • Lisa Salazar (in her ONLY documented acting gig) wore the costume in every other scene the character is in. It's also very likely Lisa Salazar is the mother of Jessica Salazar—the young girl who played Cool Cat's best friend Maria.
    • April Ann Reese is credited with providing the "Momma Cat Voice" that's dubbed over the footage of the other two actresses (and seems to have as much work experience as Ms. Salazar).
