[up] Well I usually store my outlines for my ides of Google Docs

[up][up] Sometimes, members of the Eclipse do this as well, with the only difference being that they cut the cord (and that they hire grunts that aren't as fanatical as they are)

The city of Greffemwieln is the largest farawad settlement in the world, and considered in many ways the center of farawad culture. It is located in the west of Focraun, built on two hills that rise on either side of a river that flows southwards. The richer upper-class neighborhoods are concentrated near the tops of these hills, while the lower land around them consists of a blend of suburbs, slums and industrial complexes.

We could do a trope page - I will copy the whole thing to a good doc and put a link in the first post. We can do a summary post in a bit as well. What shall we call the Trope page?

Build-a-world?

Trope Terra?

Fale Farawad Tanaig Melokk?

I like the whole steampunk / modern tech medieval society going on.

[up] I suggested before that we should think up an in-universe name for the world (i.e. what the inhabitants call it) and use that. If you wanted to be the one to invent the name, I can't think of anyone more appropriate. :)

Though if you can't think of what to call it, Build-a-World is fine by me.

Hmm. That's true... Cross that bridge when we come to it, I guess? I don't really have any other ideas as to what to call it.

How about "Terragenesis"?

That sounds pretty good. Best to check if there's nothing else with that name, though.

Alirogs are a race of four-eyed monkey-like beings with reptilian scales. Alirogs live in forests, making their homes in large trees. Alirogs are crepuscular scavengers. Alirogs are less likely to become monsters than any other creatures in the world, even the ensouled races.

Alirogs don't worship any of the gods but adhere to a philosophy of socialist democracy that they refer to as "the religion". Their sages are to the religion what clerics are to the gods; they can even use staffs that give them non-elemental magic.

(Yay, the thread's not dead yet!)

Tanaigs are traditionally monogamous. However, a tanaig marriage may take one of two distinct forms.

If a tanaig male and female both on their wanderlust journey meet each other and fall in love, they can choose to join together for the remainder of their journey and marry each other afterwards. This type of marriage is known as 'gevvay'. On the other hand, a tanaig male who has finished his WLJ without finding a romantic partner is no longer eligible for gevvay. Instead, he can opt for an arranged marriage, in which case a female in the same position (unmarried, but finished her WLJ) is selected by the appropriate patriarchs (typically older male family members, friends or government officials, the latter two particularly if family patriarchs are not available), and they are joined in the second type of marriage, known as 'ebarek' (EH-bar-ehk). In either case, the suffix 'tul' is appended to denote the husband and 'bon' to denote the wife.

These two types of marriage traditionally have different connotations. Gevvay is supposed to be a fun, spontaneous, emotionally charged relationship, with the gevvay-bon serving as a sort of manic pixie dream girl, a source of excitement and surprise for her gevvay-tul. On the other hand, ebarek is understood to be a calm, soothing relationship of mutual support and absolute trust, with the ebarek-bon filling a relatively subservient yamato nadeshiko sort of role, almost like a servant to her ebarek-tul. Neither type of marriage is considered unilaterally superior or more desirable than the other, although some tanaigs may seek after a particular type if they believe their personality is unsuited to the other type.

Fales are almost universally bisexual and four-partner marriages are fairly common. Even if a fale's parentage is clear to all, all four spouses will be counted as his biological parents (even though they're technically not) as if it was unclear.

At the northern point of Espidara's 'crescent', where the land, the Crescent Sea and the ocean all meet, is located a large fale city known as Alleskoon. This is one of the world's greatest economic centers, and more maritime trade passes through it than any other city.

The Inquisition is a chaste organization. This is not because of any religeous law, but because family can be used as leverage.

[up] Because of this (and the Eclipse's general reputation staining the Inquisition's), monarchs forbid their only child from joining the Inqisition, unless they have siblings willing to sire a royal heir or more democratic forms of government (In the latter case, not only are the princes and princesses allowed to join, but the ceremonial position allows their parents to join as well)

Near the middle of Skara Brae, there is situated a giant rock split in two. Back when the city was first being excavated, this was a piece of the ceiling; tanaig miners dug around it too carelessly, causing it to fall unexpectedly to the cavern floor, squashing several tanaigs and cracking into two pieces. The city's government has left it there as a reminder to all of what can happen when you screw up your engineering. There is a square pathway around it from which viewers can see it up close, and a small monument next to it with an inscription telling of the event and listing the names of the victims.

Olafubs are small mammals with elephant-like noses, porcupine-like quills, mole-like claws, and boar-like tusks. Olafubs live in burrows, coming to the surface to hunt for insects and other small prey. They are associated with Gaius to such an extent that the earth-god's worshipers regard them as omens of his favor or anger, depending on what the olafubs are doing.

Each continent and each individual island is home to a unique species of olafubs. The larger they are, the larger their prey; the largest olafubs are the size of medium-sized dragons and eat smaller animals, including other olafubs.

Marriages between races used to be severely frowned upon. Nowadays, only Eclipsian inquisitors take issue with the custom.

Tanaigs are patriarchal largely because when they mate with other races, their sons are always tanaigs.

Farawads are matriarchal largely because when they mate with other races, their daughters are always farawads.

When fales mate with other races, they always produce twins; one child will be a fale and the other will be the other parent's race.

Within Kaskaven there is a large restaurant known as the Dining Ball of Kaskaven. It is literally a ball made of metal and glass, ballasted so that it floats just under the ocean surface, and connected to the surface by a tube carrying air vents and elevators. The ball is surrounded by curved metal bars on which colorful marine organisms are encouraged to grow. Diners sit just inside the ball, so that on a brightly lit day they can easily view the aquatic life outside through the glass windows, while the middle of the ball houses the kitchens, connected directly to the air vents so that air can come down and smoke/steam can go up. The ball is divided horizontally into five usable storeys, although the uppermost storey is only a lobby and patrons do not eat there.

The DBOK is considered the most luxurious modern restaurant in the world, with comfortable, quality-made furnishings and some of the best fale cuisine available to the public anywhere. It is also very expensive, but not so much that it does not see constant business from the upper classes of Kaskaven and other rich travelers visiting the city. More than a few important business deals and political decisions have been made between its walls.

Ancient stone tablets with music notes carved into them are in the process of being unearthed near Skara Brae. When played together, it was discovered that they created a haunting melody unlike most anything heard before. There is a title, but it's written in a foreign script, and thus unreadable.

Eruthan (???) was formed from the corpses of the gods disembodied in the War of the Gods. However, there was an older reality called Yoshu, which was sung into being by the gods’ ancestors, beings now known as the whispers. Like the gods, the whispers survive as disembodied spirits fed by the devotion of their worshipers. Like the gods, the whispers have clerics, but they grant dimensional rather than elemental spells, treating time and space as elements. Yoshu no longer exists, so the whispers feel homeless and wander Eruthan. The whispers are worshiped as a collective rather than as individuals, and they don’t have official temples or public shrines like the gods (even Umbrus has hidden sanctuaries throughout Eruthan). Like Umbran clerics, the whispers’ clerics are insane, but they are less sadistic and destructive than mischievous and manipulative. The whispers are known to abduct children and elders, to travel exclusively in straight lines or spirals, to never tell lies or break oaths, and to cause famines and droughts when angered.

False undead drain life energy from their surroundings to fuel their bodies. When a large group settles in an area, they trigger an event called a Blight, where the area's life energy is drained faster that it replenishes. This leads to all sorts of problems: Crop failures, stillbirths, plagues, and other happenings of that nature.

Vampires are regarded as the greatest writers of romance, mystery, and horror fiction. Their novels, short stories, and poems are known throughout the world and many have been adapted into stage productions and motion pictures.
