Strat, the map seems to have left your signature. Also, should the Keeper be aware of the assorted world-altering?

...I have a lot to catch up on.

see if this works.

And ya, he should be aware of it, since one of those moved by it, Dracula, is now to his north. Was stated to cause earthquakes in chunks around those moved.

I'll post later today. But so I can skip a post double checking details, I figured I would just ask here so I can get to the fight. Kuvira's men have the authority to carry out the agreed upon conditions correct? Assume all the paper work is done and legit, no need to have to comb over any loop hole abuse. And Jeane is asking to steal Aleida's duel, so is she cool with it?

@ strat: Ah ok. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't sending the wrong message and just treating your character as some weakling. Even so though, I still think the odds are stacked. In terms of raw strength and speed, Jeane still seems to have the advantage. Trying to guard would probably break your arms and trying to out maneuver is going to be near impossible. The agility would have helped in the right environment, but a flat ring like this probably favors straight speed. Personally, every way I see you winning the match requires the use of powers. Guess we will see though.

Aleida wouldn't have a problem. She was stepping in on behalf of another (though with the deal centered on her own forces, technically leaving Jeane open for her own anyway) and Jeane just gets traight to the point. She'll just be ready to pop one in Kuvira's head should something disqualifying happen, like one of Kuvira's men fires on Jeane from outside the Circle, or Kuvira flees; leaving the circle of your own power is the most humiliating of defeats in a Trial, unless you've been extended hegira, or the right to an honorable retreat by your opponent. Part of Aleida's irritation with all this wasthe ceasefire was IMPOSED upon the fighters by a third party; Kuvira never got hegira for the battle itself and therefore to Aleida the battle is still actually being fought, just nobody's shooting at the moment. This interference is why she has a special distaste for Optimus right now, and she probably will refuse to deal with the Autobots any time in the future.

As far as she's concerned they acted the most dishonorably of all the participants in this battle, and they remind her strongly of the "Wars for Peace" the Inner Sphere went through during the Successor Wars and by the end of the Star League that ended Humanity's golden age and led the Clans' founder into exile (and then to create the Clans themselves) in the first place. From first impressions, Optimus Prime stands for everything she sees wrong with the galaxy.

The Clans cause war to achieve peace as well, but it's always within an intensely formalized and regulated framework of cmbat, that's where the concept of zellbrigen, or battle honor, comes from. Its whole point is to place warfare into a rigid structure to eliminate unnecessary and wasteful losses. But if you lose, you don't get to complain because it wasn't YOUR BRAND of violence that achieved peace, etc. Optimus seems to her very much like the "Violence is only justified when it's MY violence" type.

[up][up] Yes to both questions.

I feel like Kuvira is one of those characters that uses the age-old excuse of 'peak human conditioning', but like I said, I don't give any of my NP Cs Plot Armor. So we'll have her doing her best to try and outsmart Jeane. Because Jeane doesn't seem like the biggest tactical genius.

@ Sere: Always interesting to hear you guys talk about Battletech. Before the RP all I knew was that they Had big walking mechs. I recognized the designs, but its interesting to actually hear some the lore on it.

You're really only getting a little slice of it: the Clans by the time of my characters really got knocked down a few pegs, but from Flankers characters they were at the height of their power. They're certainly the most unique of the cultures in the setting though. The Great Houses are modeled after general geographic areas and cultures (e.g. House Kurita that the Nova Cats were losing their rebellion against in my intro post are Space Japan, complete with samurai and bushido and daimyos and all that), but the Clans are modeled after different tribal societies. Jade Falcon based off the Germanic tribes, Nova Cats off Native American.

Depending on how you define 'earth' the spent powder residue on the casings might make them extremely easy to manipulate.

That being said, Aleida has no idea Kuvira's powers. She'd probably think it's someone firing into the circle, and all bets are off.

Looks like we're still inside though? I thought the fight was going to take place in that room.

I'm gonna move them outside in my room.

Ah, seems like I need to explain the whole metalbending thing to you, Sere... metalbending is an offshoot of earthbending, so they manipulate metal by focusing on its impurities. It works because the world of Avatar hasn't evolved past 1920-1930 technology wise, and as such their manufacturing produces metal with a lot of impurities- although metal so pure it can't be bent is slowly showing up in the world.

@Neet:

Glad you enjoy it!

To be even more precise than Sere, the point in time my characters are from - the Battle of Tukayyid - is where the Clans' power went on the wane. ComStarnote  realised the best way to defeat them was to avoid an honourable fight and just use every dirty trick in the book. Albeit they were helped in that they have a lot of rare, powerful technology on their sidenote .

At any rate, the end result was that the Clans had to halt their invasion. Things rapidly went downhill from there (both for the IS and Clans, but the latter were more seriously affected).

BTW, expect a post tomorrow!

Kuvira's room is outside? Where does she hang her posters and stuff?

The bullets, inside is just what Axton shot (they are elemental, so I wonder what they actually leave though), outside there are alot. Need a specific number?

@ sere: I can't help but imagine a G-gundam version Battle tech now, haha.

[up][up][up]Yeah, I'm just unclear on how impurities are classified, and how they can be targeted. Gunpowder residue might count as earth, increasing apparent 'impurities' and making them easier to manipulate.

If it's based on impurities I'll have some Battlemechs that would be easier to target than others depending on their internal structure type. Endo Steel is said to be made in zero-g and would probably be pure beyond any reasonable amount of targetable material. Standard structure might be easier to get a 'grip' on. If it ever becomes relevant I can let you know which would appear more obvious to a metalbender and which wouldn't.

[up]That would probably be the gladiatorial/arena world of Solaris VII, if my Gundam knowledge is accurate tongue (it's probably not though)

Don't be surprised if they somehow ruin it by being Clanners. Keep in mind this all started because Horse got pissy about the Combine being "dishonourable" (though to be fair, vehicles and infantry are exempt from Zellbrigen). tongue

Incidentally, Selima isn't lying about Clan medical tech there - if memory serves, injuries that'd be considered permanently maiming or scarring by the Inner Sphere are minor annoyances to the Clans.

@ Fullmoon: Its all good. If it helps, I think the posts you have to read since your last posts are 596, 611, 614, and 652. Not too much has happened, envoys are still in human village and sonic and crew are still fighting trauma harnesses on angel island.

However you may want to know that all your neighbors are currently involved in a conflict. Zaofu and Santa Destroy went to battle, pulling in the auto bots, Nova Cats, and Axton into the fighting. Things have been reduced to a single duel, but an alliance between the five nations is a possible out come of it (Nova cats may not, they have friction with the autobots right now). Big MT has invaded Iriliya with intentions of freeing the Collector, the fighting is pretty even right now with no clear advantage. Bricksburg has invaded Armor outpost pretty successfully, but Iriliya has sent reinforcements with intentions of liberating the place.

We also got a new comer, but they are on the other continent.

If I were to be completely honest with myself, I should be writing a post now, but between helping set up another game and a couple friends going through some tough shit, I'm totally distracted. Taking advantage of the little lull in interaction going on now from my end. I'm still keeping track of the thread every time a new post goes up though! Just don't expect to see any from me until Jeane and Kuvira are done. Sorry for the delay, Flanker.

Also Parable's got a pretty awesome idea I think being put in-game would be real interesting, if we can find a way to get him in sooner rather than later

I have this idea of introducing a new GM type character of some kind into the mix. While this being enjoys games and battles as much as the Cure, this character however dislikes the Cure's complete lack of imagination and unlike the Cure has plenty of imagination, but does not have the ability to transport entire sections of universe across dimensions. In response, he instead tries to subtly change and/or outright sabotage the flow of Battleworld itself by directly advising who he deems as the "Chosen Ones" - basically the main P Cs.

However, his advise can be ambiguously helpful at best or outright sabotaging lies at worst as this character will on purposely work the field to benefit those he himself favors and cripple those he does not like, contrasting with the Cure's unbiased wholesale dickery towards all he entraps. If any of the player characters and/or supporting cast of a chunk do not fellow his advise, he may bully them into doing it using whatever dirty, underhanded tricks he can, from revealing someone's deepest, darkest secrets to outright threatening the lives of loved ones and/or swathes of civilians. Worst of all, he can actually follow through with said threats, as he can warp reality with a certain radius of himself no problem in contrast to the Cure's inability to warp reality on existing objects smaller than a large island and/or small town - however it is mitigated by any nonfatal effects reversing as soon as this character leaves an area, whereas the Cure's powers leave lasting effects.

The only real constants of this character is that he's the same race as the Cure; he's colored purple to contrast with the Cure's green; and he's called........the Virus.
