With Empire event here, I should probably get the rest of the Assassins checked out so they can help with defense effort. So here is a post checking out ranks 49-25, Charlie and his groupies, as well as Santa Destroy's two mechs, Santa Death Parade and Glastonbury.

The most obvious thing that both mechs need balanced is their size. Their actual size is a bit hard to pin down since scale is a bit off in game. In the picture alone you can see that building one side of the street don't match up to those on the other side. 200 ft or 60 meters seems like a good estimate. I could get into how I came up with that, but seeing as they are more then likely not going to be staying that size, its probably just good to know that they are supposed to be huge.

Glastonbury is basically a Gundam, with some Voltron or Gunbuster thrown in. It uses a beam katana of appropriate size as well as a large long barreled beam cannon weapon shaped like a guitar. It can fly and is decently agile for a mech of its size in game (reminds me of a super nintendo fighter). It is also able of performing a Macross Missile Massacre and overcharging the sword, but since these are special meter attacks, it can't spam them by any stretch. If you consider the bullet hell game also starring the mech, then in flight it is actually pretty good at dodging, can fire lasers, bullet block with its beam katana, and is able to create a screen clearing explosion via ''Anarchy in the Galaxy''.

Santa Death Parade is basically a Gurren Lagann mech with its affinity for faces. Its alot more simple then Glastonbury. It's big, it punches, and it fires large lasers from its hands. Its special attack is popping a giant foot ball from its hand then throwing it at incredible speeds, turning it into something of a really large kinetic shell. One of the nice things about Death Parade is that it is formed by Charlie and the cheerleaders fusing. Since its formed every time it appears, it can be tailor made to a size that fits the encounter. So its less how big it is, and more how big do people want it to be for a fight. Admittedly a part of me want to see what Charlie and the cheerleaders can do outside the mech, seems like a lot of fun to be had with a ten foot football player and twenty four cheer leaders with rocket boots.

Hmm. I expect ammo on the missile spam to be limited (As I think you kinda said indirectly via energy reserves)

Also keep in mind this is explosive shit. Excessive use of it will A-Cause considerable damage to the direct area of your chunk and B-May spur the Empire to a higher threat level response. I'm already considering uping you to a level 4 now due to the mechs.

Definitely limited supply, in can even be simply one salvo before having to be reloaded through maintenance or something, you usually are only able to get it off once before you beat Charlie anyway. Collateral damage is expected. Even in game I think you accidentally knock down a skyscraper or two during the fight.

Level 4 is the one with AT-A Ts right? It might be fun to have a mech fight an AT-AT. I find the idea of Death Parade trying to get one in a head lock to be funny, especially if we get them around the same height. Can an AT-AT melee? Or are you willing to let one for rule of cool purposes? On the other hand Santa Destroy is all over the place in strength. On one hand, giant mechs and space ghosts with orbital lasers, on the other, mooks with iron pipes and bats. Maybe something like a 3.5 could be good where strong units can be deployed against the strong and weak for the weak. I know Empires air superiority is where Santa Destroy is really going to suffer with.

@Un: Just brainstorming, but out of curiosity, do you know if Mikado would be willing/able to pilot a mech?

[up] -spits out water-

Wha, hah, yes. I mean, he has exactly as much mech piloting experience as a normal fifteen-year-old boy, but he would Simon the shit out of that pilot's seat.

Why do you ask?

No, AT-AT's are level 5. You'll be seeing walking artillery platforms in level 4, as well as Dark Troopers.

Still, I'm on the fence. Norm, give me your opinion here, where do you stand on this?

@ un: Glastonbury doesn't have its usual otaku pilot. So depending if it passes, thought it would be fun to do the very anime thing of finding some young boy, putting him in the pilot seat of a mech, then saying "Okay, go save the world now", haha. Minako seems the most befitting this role.

@ meanken: Oh, Darktroopers actually looks pretty cool. Could probably set up some nice Assassins vs Dark Trooper fights. Whats the walking artillery platforms though?

Added a few details to the signup page for Delta Squad(Which I can't believe I forgot since I sometimes play the game to get the clones feel and personality right) such as their age and them also having Bacta injectors and gear for Rappelling, which I hope is fine.

See, the thing about the Empire event is that it's not player vs player, so we can afford to give a few nudges to what is balanced and so on. We're able to take the latches off and go up to eleven just for this occasion, perhaps.

These mechs are super big and super tough, and that will probably need nerfing in the long run.

But I think it could also be something we factor into the RP's story. If they are one-time superpowers now, and they get expended or damaged at the end of the event, then they stop being game breakers and become story elements and objectives to drive the plot ahead. After the Empire fight, maybe the mechs need extensive, time-intensive repairs and certain resources to fix that can only be gotten from neighbours - conflict and opportunity gets created. Maybe when they do get repaired, they become weaker and fairer to use against other players.

For example, the Autobot's Metroplex is able to transform into a heavily armed fortress with formidable firepower. To activate it, they need its Transformation Cog, the Magnus Hammer and a buttload of energon. I'm intending for them to use the Metroplex against the Empire, run dangerously low on power as a result and then after the Empire event the Autobots run into a power shortage, which for them means starvation and perhaps even desperate raids on their neighbours to get their short-term fix. The Autobots survive, but lose a superweapon. Kinda like how the Power Rangers would always end up losing their Zords after a big fight.

Basically, I think for this Empire Event, I think we can afford to let some one-time supers slip through for the sake of a good time. Within reason, of course. We don't want this to be too easy.

In a nutshell: probably bump it up to a level 5 threat if they want to go all out with the giant robots.

Speaking of which, how many AT-A Ts do the orks get to fight? I have some ideas, but they're kinda mutually incompatible.

Coming down a bit from my giant robot contact high, it would probably make more sense if Anri piloted the robot. Not only have I been scratching my head for something for her to do, but since she already knows how to use a sword, it should translate pretty well to a beam saber. tongue

Still, I can scarcely begin to imagine the amount of coincidences and grit that would need to happen to get Anri out of Ikebukuro, into Santa Destroy, into one of the robots, and in Santa Destroy's defense, all in the equivalent of a few in-game hours. And by that I mean I'm already imagining it, and I'll PM you when I think of it. waii

Well, it's finally finished. The day the Empire stuff really gets off the ground, and the four-player collab battle is up and dealt with!

To give you guys an idea, Cliffjumper's last line is on page 30 of a shared Google Doc. 11 pt. font, Bree Serif, single spaced with only an extra space separating paragraphs (like on the RP). This bitch counts more as a book than a post!

That being said, there's a lot of great moments in it, especially Un's and Norm's contributions in the last two parts. So to help make the whole thing more readable I'm going to color the dialogue like I've seen Noob and Geek do, among others. Hopefully that breaks things up a bit.

So here's the legend:

Tom

Huang

Shizuo

April

Cliffjumper

July

"February" (Lady Alma)

Mao

Amagiri/Brita (they don't talk much)

[up]An excellent idea.

Still debating if I should have the Empire make first contact this weekend or wait a tad longer. At the least I'd like to wait for Flank to post just because of prior plans for his post we've made.

I'd like to thank all you crazy cats who made this doc possible; Strat, and Norm, who couldn't have possibly known what they were stepping into, but stuck through it like champs; and, of course, Theo, the hippest and happenest RP partner this side of the Rio Grande. Thanks a bunch, guys. smile

I have successfully pulled myself away from overwatch enough to post

(read: I went back home for the weekend where the internet is too shit to play overwatch. Nothing to help an addiction like smashing the drug and the hand you take it with to pieces, I suppose)

Also I've decided to start put a 'whom am I interacting with' section at the top of my posts. I think it'll help make things easier, as anyone who glances at my posts automatically knows if they're being interacted with or not. Seems good in a place with as many characters and long posts as this one.

And now Neet, haha. I'll post more later, just want to get that post out since I miss alot of opportunities from just sitting on my hands. Like originally I was going to try to send reps to Zi-jin Cheng real early so they could warn about orks and give the recon info on Koopa Kingdom, making them appear like a reliable source on information. I missed that exit by a couple hundred miles though, haha.

@ meanken: Is it cool if I have Capt Vlad make an encore performance? It can be hand wave that since he is ghost. Him sticking around alittle longer now that entirety of his beloved Earth is being threatened by aliens.

Also is it cool if I expand Margaret's arsenal just alittle. In game she uses hollow point bullets because she fights unarmored targets. But with Battleworld, she has alot more armored foes. So is it cool if I giver her armor peircing shells for her anti material rifles too? Especially the Mk211 if you are feeling generous. I would also like to give her C4, seems like she could have some fun with that. Its all modern tech and nothing too extravagant, but I figured I should ask first before making changes to her kit.

I'm fine with Margret having extra ammo stores of different forms somewhere. However, I'm not so keen on Vlad the Ghost. Perhaps the UAA hired some nutjob to pretend to be him? They have precedent for that lol.

@GCR: Basically, Killer Frost got bored and made herself something pretty to sit in. I'm imagining it as something like a true-to-life version of one of those displays in malls where you get to sit on Santa's lap, only two stories, because it has just enough closed space to count as... an enclosed space, while also being open-air enough that people can just walk through it. In any case, it makes the surrounding area pretty cold.

I've been really busy with work and stuff, so I won't be able to post until Monday whereabouts.

Hope you feel better Strat!
