Depending on how powerful they opt to make the system, I could see a system around the size of the 3DS XL that can be used as a handheld or placed in a docking cradle to link to the HDMI to a TV and allows it to take inputs from external controllers.
Downsides, of course, are that it'd either have poor battery life for a handheld or low processing power for a home console. It could well be either the best or worst of both worlds.

I sure said that!Well, I had a bunch of store credit on Amazon and caved and bought a New Nintendo 3DS. I'll just trade it in next year if it turns out Nintendo does have a new handheld that has BC.
That's a pretty solid bump, assuming they have at least a vague idea of what the NX is on a technical level and aren't just hedging their bets.

I sure said that! The logo is by a fan so it probably doesn't mean much. If the game can already run on 3DS it can run on NX.

It does say it's to add possibly add VR, which is probably going to be okay at best if it's being added now.

It would kill them if that led to a delay to late 2017 launch, though. They've barely got anything to carry them through to the delay as it is.
Not to mention Zelda U being held hostage for the NX release.
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/TheyThe impression I'm getting is that Nintendo is working with large publishers (but not the developers under them) and smaller developers that have close ties to Nintendo. Which... is probably not the best strategy considering their circumstances.
NX better be a breeze to port to. Otherwise this secrecy is going to backfire tremendously.
It's like they want last minute Porting Disasters in their launch lineup.
Let's hope that isn't the case.
Well, they wouldn't literally want that, but they might be thinking ports are "so easy for the NX" despite the fact that nobody knows what the damn thing is!
...
I feel like in a time-loop.
They are gonna make the same mistakes all over again. They don't learn.
I hope I'm wrong, but until I see proof, my faith in Nintendo not botching things is dead and buried.
One Strip! One Strip!I wish Nintendo would open their doors instead of being overly paranoid.
Nintendo's in a very awkward position right now.
They really should tell publishers and devs what the damn thing is at least so they can get a solid launch lineup.
However, they could end up pulling another 3DS with this one and get better despite the launch lineup.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I really, really don't see why Nintendo is so paranoid about the Nx, overly so compared to other cases. It's obvious that they really think they're being super clever with the concept behind the Nx, but I really don't see what it could be.
If the Nx is just Wii U with more power, a smaller gamepad, and the ability to be played away from the TV, Nintendo will have just made the biggest fuck up since... well, since the Wii U. I really don't want this to be the case, mainly because we already know how this story ends for Nintendo, and the corporate shuffle should have gotten these terrible ideas lost somewhere in the mix.
And if the pull with the Nx is just VR, then they've likely made a big mistake as well, because VR would either be Gear VR "eh"-tier at best and not pull in super large audiences, or it would be PSVR tier at best and rack up the prices to ridiculous levels. Either way, it's a big mistake.
That said, these are just rumors, and if Nintendo really is being that tight lipped with the Nx, I doubt we'll get any truly big info leaks until we actually know what the hell the Nx is.
My anticipation lowers more and more.
I hate complaining when we know so little, but it feels like they are just gonna do the same thing all over again. I feel like they are digging their own grave and don't even know it.
One Strip! One Strip!you do realize that nintendo could afford to work entirely without profit for the next 50+ years, right? because of how much money they got from the wii and ds lines, as well as the profits from all the earlier generations and the profit they made off the 3DS. (even if it isn't optimal)
people keep shouting that nintendo is doomed when that's literally never been the case. hell, even the wii u started doing fine once games actually came out for it.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeIt's interesting looking at how many actually work at Nintendo.
Here are some numbers on how much some companies pulled in along with how many actually work there(some numbers are old):
- 3,376,345,151.41 / 10,670 Ubisoft
- 4,515,000,000.00 / 8,400 EA
- 4,688,194,761.09 / 5,064 Nintendo
- 1,560,380,329.00 / 3,864 SE
- 1,100,000,000.00 / 4,700 Blizzard
- 0,240,701,909.00 / 2,601 Capcom
Doesn't it look like Nintendo could afford a whole lot more people not even counting their ever increasing war chest? A whole bunch of money goes unused when it could be used to start new teams, dust off old I Ps, expand across Europe and South America instead of pulling out, localize more 3rd party games to ensure more games on their systems etc.

Well, the thing is that nobody thinks that Nintendo on the whole is doomed. But Nintendo is still a company and if their hardware-products turn out to be flop after flop, it would not be viable for them to continue producing them, even if they had enough money to flop continiously for 50+ years. So it is not unreasonable to believe, that the NX could be Nintendo's last console if it fails.

Check out my YouTube-channel, if you wantI'd say more "If the NX isn't a success on the level of at the very least XB 1 Nintendo is probably out of the home console market and will just focus on the handheld market where they're still the kings" rather than "Nintendo will collapse if the NX isn't a big success".
If it wasn't for mobile being such a big thing now(even with Miitomo's apparent failure) I'd say Nintendo teaming up for a home console with Sony while still doing their own handheld, toys, movies, shows, theme parks etc would be the best thing in a worst case scenario.

You know, the whole thing with RISE and the fan made NX Logo they used that they had to censor, honestly makes me wonder... Are they keeping the NX so secretive because they don't have a name for it? That'd be interesting and funny if that's honestly the reason they haven't said jack about the NX; because they don't have a name for it.
it kind of is unreasonable though!
the 3DS was definitely a success
the wii u wasn't a failure, either! yes, it's beginning was rocky, but once games came out for it (around when Mario Kart 8 came out) it started doing much better- not to mention Splatoon being a huge console seller.
and the NX hasn't even come out yet, and its still got almost a solid year before release!

The most logical conlcusion would be that both NX'es are technically seperate systems, but work as one or something.
What, would the handheld unit have cellular internet and you could just stream your games from your home unit to it?
That sounds kind of cool at first, but it would suck because I wouldn't want to pay cellular internet just to play my games on the go. So streaming as the only option is out of the question, but I guess I can see it as a feature some people would like to have.
