Changed the thread title.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYes, quite possible. Around that time (especially when the 1998 Godzilla film came out) the older films were getting played on Sci-Fi pretty often.
I love Godzilla...! So, uh, how bout the two separate movies made by Toho and Legendary, eh? Because I can't think of anything else to talk about!
Has Toho made another one recently?
No, but there's supposed to be one coming out next year, to capitalize on the success of Legendary's movie... and/or fill in the gap 'till Godzilla '14's sequel, I suppose.
Wonder who the monster of choice will be? For that matter, I wonder who is going to feature in the next American one? I'd love to see Ghidorah get his chance to appear in CGI.
Well, now that they're allowed to use other Toho monsters, I'm pretty sure Ghidorah's gonna be in it; what with him being the Big Bad of the series and all.

Anybody else here reading the Godzilla: Rulers of Earth comic?
Yeah. It's fun popcorn entertainment; I guess the 3rd time really is the charm, because it's much better than IDW's first two ongoings, IMO.
Lord, the first two were terrible. Never try to mix "satire" with Godzilla. Especially when you aren't very good with satire to start with. Rulers of Earth, conversely, managed to take the Marty Stu out of Steven Woods, made Zilla into a believable threat, brought in a load of the other Toho monsters...it's just been a really fun ride.
Just announced: Hideaki Anno is writing and directing the 2016 Japanese Godzilla movie
^Oh man, there's a friend I gotta share this with... I need to see her reaction.
/crawls back under rockWe are that much closer to an official Godzilla x Evangelion crossover.
"What a century this week has been." - Seung Min KimRemind me not to watch that. On the list of people you don't allow near a fun franchise, Anno is at the top of the list.
I see no problem, as not, only is he a longtime fan of Toku and Kaiju movies, but Shinji Higuchi will be director, as is already a veteran when it comes to Kaiju moves, being an intern for effects work for The Return Of Godzilla and effects director for the Heisei Gamera trilogy.
The new movie is in Good hands, I feel.

Watch SymphogearTo bad its almost definitely an april fools day joke.
No, it's real.
April 1st is the beginning of Japan's fiscal year, and shinji Higuchi and Hieaki anno had their picture taken at Toho, and was an official report.
Lying about business during the beginning of the next fiscal year is not an April fools day joke to make.

Watch SymphogearI don't know, it seems pretty real from what I've seen so far. If it's a joke, they did a great (?) job.

/crawls back under rockAm I right in saying that with the exception of Godzilla 2000, the U.S. Releases of Japanese Godzilla movies from Biollante onwards were more or less uncut?
my favorite Godzilla is R35
Bumbleby is best ship. busy spending time on r/RWBY and r/anime. Unapologetic SocialistIf Anno is taking charge of the next Godzilla film, does that mean we're going to get a deeper look into the humans' heads... or the King's head?
Whatever the case, I also predict weird metaphysics.

Godzilla actor Hiroshi Koizumi passed away Thursday.
Played the human lead in Godzilla Raids Again, and had parts in various other kaiju flicks.
And on a lighter note, Godzilla gains Japanese citizenship.

This thread is about Godzilla in general.
Call me crazy but I could have sworn I saw a TV marathon of the Heisei Godzilla films and the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy back in the 90s or early 00s. Is that even possible?
