Expedition To the End - A Space Opera Style RP

A hissing sound is heard, you open your eyes and realize that you are suited up, oh that's right you've been in Cryosleep. Had to be suited in case where you woke up had no atmosphere or in case of-

"EMERGENCY!" ... yes that exactly. "Hey! You awake? Ah excellent you are awake!" That would be ADAM, the ship's AI system.

"So, Bad news, I had to quickly de-thaw you from Cryo, which may result in disorientation and possible brain damage. I don't know, ship's medical AI overthought himself to death something like 20 years ago, been in sleep a long time! I am losing my mind, we crashed into a asteroid and we're off course from Haven! How much I don't know! That memory was damage and the sensors were taken out! The Speranza has seen better days."

Well that woke you up, "Good news is that we have tools, we can salvage what we can, and I pumped you full of that special medicine meant to fight Cryosleep! Let's get out of here!"

The lights come on and it becomes clear that the ship's hull has been breached with a large rock surface staring right at you. You look about and find many other cryopods are damaged beyond recognition. You and a few others are the only survivors.

Welcome everyone to Expedition to the End. The Goal? Haven, the new planet for man after a mass exodus from Earth. Seems simple right? Nope there is going to be a lot going on.

• Playable "Races"
  • Humans - You're resourceful, you're hard to kill for a fleshbag, you built ships to escape the dying world you once called home, hell you're fairly certain you helped build the Speranza. +2 to Diplomacy and Medicine
  • Cyborg - You're a military grade augmented human. Why? Accident? Horrible event back on Earth? Malevolent AI got to you? Doesn't matter, cybernetics don't eat your soul. You're out here to assist your more fleshy associates. Full Body conversions accepted. + 2 to Weapons and Engineering
  • Android - You are here to protect and serve humanity! Or so those fleshy meatbags told you. All that matters is you're out here in Space and your human crew is the only thing guaranteeing your survival and lack of madness. Also don't listen to Adam about letting him into your body, he's just mad cause he has no thumbs. + 2 to Piloting and Medicine

  • Weapons: How good are you with fancy tools of the future? Heat knives, guns, or even just bludgeoning someone.
  • Engineering: How good are you at fixing and building ships or even maintaining A.I.s and other mechanical entities
  • Medical: This deep into space someone needs to be a doctor.
  • Piloting: Space requires a lot of piloting of vehicles of course
  • Diplomacy: Negotiate with your enemies if you can.

You have 25 points to spend for affinities and there is no way to purchase more. Build your character how you like.

General level of Tech is close to Space Engineers and Metal Gear Rising. Well with what you start out with anyways.

Is there a reason Cyborgs only get a bonus to one affinity while the other two races get bonuses to two separate affinities?

Also, do any cybernetic implants automatically make you a cyborg, or can you be a human that just happens to have like one mechanical arm or something? You know assuming said one mechanical limb doesn't have anything all that special about it.

You can be a human with some base implants, it's how you control your Space suit mostly. Cyborgs are further along, more than just base implants and a artificial arm.

And as for the one affinity I was unsure of what would be a good other affinity to give Cyborgs. Piloting perhaps.

Maybe engineering? Since no one gets a bonus to that. Would probably also make sense that military grade cyborgs would be somewhat capable of maintaining themselves in the field.

After. You can fill up all 5 affinities with 5 points each plus 2 for any racial bonus.

Tempted to go cyborg and be the ultimate murderborg. But, I think I'll shoot for a less combative role to branch out.

• Name: Professor Robert Proton
• Race: Human
• Sex: Male
• Physical Appearance: Robert Proton is slightly on the shorter side of things at 1.66 meters in height. His eyes having been replaced with cybernetics have no set coloration but gleam metallicly and glow with an inner light of variable shades. His hair is short cropped and black. He is of Northren European descent.
• Personality: Ever since he was a young kid, Robert has always had an obsession with science and technology. The fact that he isn't a full conversion cyborg at this point would honestly astound his family. Given the fact that they had to stop him a few times when he was younger from chopping off his own hand just so he could get a mechanical one. He eventually after studying medicine in addition to other sciences just settled for fancy high tech eyes. As for why he's on the ship, he's on it FOR SCIENCE! The furthering of human knowledge and technology out amongst the infinite void.
• Tools
  • Professor Proton's Prodigious Photon Projector: This is a small laser pistol that the professor has extensively tinkered with to make it far more versatile. In addition to being a self defense weapon, he can use it to weld or cut with. It's even capable of measuring distances and with a few other minor utilities.
  • Cybernetic Eyes: Professor Proton willingly had his own eyes popped out and replaced with mechanical upgrades to allow him to see across most if not all of the EM spectrum instead of just visible light. It also has zoom functions to make delicate precise work easier.
  • Tool Kit: Professor Proton's toolkit is equipped with a wide variety of engineering tools and other scientific devices.
  • Medical Kit: Professor Proton's medkit is a fairly standard emergency medkit with some added surgical tools and other medical gear that takes an actual doctor to operate properly.

I don't actually know what tech level you were shooting for, so I hope I'm not too far off with the laser and railgun and eyes.

Kinetic weapons. No railgun sized pistols, you're a exploration ship all weapons would be something akin to rifles that fire bullets.

Other than that he is perfectly fine and the laser is creative enough that I am willing to accept it.

Name: Crashsat

Race: Android

Physical Appearance: Typical humanoid robot appearance, keeping the human resemblence to a minumum. This particular unit has a black matte finish with red for the detail colors. The eyes glow a soft blue, but flash red when in engaging in combat.

Personality: Created by the Ulterion Corp. Crashsat is designated Cr-killsatbot, bots designed specifically to keep warships running and to take control of them if necessary. They are designed to make the most of any situation and can cause a lot of destruction and chaos if a careful leash isn't kept on them. Crahssat in particular is slightly cocky and loves to take on suicide missions and then prove them wrong. Everyone. Some application in the field for triage duty. Some.

Tools: His hands can morph into various repair tools (welding torch, wrench, screwdriver, and various wirecutters and tweezers) and he is armed with a standard caliber handgun and shotgun for when the psitol is inadequate.

I don't mind a recycled character. Just fix up your post and find a concrete image to use for him and we should be good. And define what tools his hand can switch out with and that is it.

Name: S.A.T.N.A.V. (Shipboard Automated Technical and Navigational Assistance Valet)

Race: Android

Physical Appearance: Typically wears something less revealing◊ Eyes are solid blue, precisely 1.80 metres tall.

Personality: According to the manufacturer's description, S.A.T.N.A.V. is a mobile piloting user interface for the ship and only cognitively processes separately from ADAM during EV As. In practice, however, the gynoid thoroughly dislikes ADAM and has its own ideas about how to run the ship. It is programmed to be 'user friendly' in regards to humans but tends to be sarcastic and strong willed though will defer to their orders eventually. She doesn't hate humans, just dislikes being insubordinate to them by default - also fond of rats and mice for unknown reasons.

Tools: Multi-tool hands, various physical and wireless connections for interfacing with ADAM, the ship and other computers. Standard issue laser pistol and heat knife for emergencies.

I hope this is ok. We're going to need a diplomat and an all-rounder as well, and I'm all for that type of character. More support, but able to do nearly anything.

Name: Jacques Phoenix

Race:Human

Sex: Male

Physical Appearance: Jacques is quite tall, with brown hair and wears glasses over his blue eyes when reading. Not particularly strong or dexterous, he is somewhat medium in build.

Personality:Jacques always believed that only those who learn the most would survive the longest. He was never one for specialization, and tries his best to be good at everything. Sadly, he hates and fears being in a high responsibility position...like piloting and driving, so he never learnt how.

Quite intelligent, and able to learn new things quickly, he is pacifistic, but will not hesitate to fight back when his life or other's are on the line. Rather, he uses words to fight for him. He has a few things that will set him off immediately though. Harming those close to him, insulting his work when he clearly did a good job, among others. He also has a cybernetic computer implanted in his brain, allowing him to think faster and remember things easily.

Tools:

• A silenced USP.45. Old, but reliable, and his personal weapon of choice
• A silenced 5.7mm SMG. For when the handgun is not enough.
• A bog standard heat knife.
• A first aid kit, for minor injuries and combat medic duty.
• A small toolbag, for standard maintenance and minor to moderate repairs of mechanical systems.
• Cybernetic Processing module implanted in his brain, enhancing memory and analytical skills

Race: Human

Sex: Female (to break up the sausagefest =P)

Physical Appearance: Short (5' 0"), with short blond hair, blue eyes, and generally looks like someone's kid sister, or maybe a cheerleader. Usually wears sharp, simple navy blue suits, though she doesn't mind wearing fancier or more normal clothes if she has to.

Personality: Victoria is no-nonsense, smart, sarcastic, and comes off as rather abrasive sometimes. However, she has a softer side, especially for cute animals and babies.

Tools: A small pistol (A Sig Sauer), which her father gave her, and a P90 submachine gun, for those times when a pistol just doesn't cut it. Also ammo for each gun and several useful odds and ends, like a roll of duct tape, an empty water bottle, a pair of scissors, and several paperclips.

Excuse me but the robot is androgynous. Though he likes to refer to himself as male. Sometimes he likes to make it ambiguous.

I'd add them in. But you broke a rule Tojin. The points max at 10. So your character can't have Weapons 15.
