Mafia Game! Join, and kill your friends!

The town you live in is so small it doesn't even have a real name; most people just call it Mine. That's all it is, really. A small mine, a little bit of farm outskirts, and some nearby forested hills are all that you know. Nobody really comes or goes often. But then... Day Zero. A new tunnel in the mine finds something... different.

Diamonds.

This is the town's big break. Whoever controls the mine will be unbelievably wealthy. The village will prosper like never before.

Night Zero, the miner is killed in his sleep. A pickax did him in.. but it was obvious the perpetrator didn't act alone. The town reels the next morning...

RULES

Welcome to Mafia! In this game, a secret group (the mafia) is trying to overthrow a larger group (the villagers) without being detected. There are two phases: Day and Night. During the day, everyone votes on who to lynch. During the night, the mafia kills someone, and also other abilities can be used. Here are the basic rules:

• Don't be a dick.
  
• The Mafia players know who the other Mafia players are. The villagers, obviously, don't.

• Each phase is 24 hours long, ending at around 7PM EST.
  
• During the day, players may discuss, accuse, throw blame around, whatever. They must also vote for who they want to kill. Voting must be done in the following format: Vote: Sarcastically Insane.
  
• If you wish to change your vote, simply do Unvote: Sarcastically Insane. Vote: Fast Eddie.
  
• During the night, players may ALSO discuss, accuse, throw blame around, whatever. They may also activate their special ability known only to them, such as Protect, Investigate, etc.
  
• Players inactive for more than 3 day cycles (6 days IRL) may be kicked.
  
• Players will receive a Role PM after the roster is set. Please do not reveal your PM to other players. Claiming to be a certain role is okay, however. It's not necessarily recommended, however...
  
• Once you're killed, please refrain from posting anything other than a single "Death post".

• Please keep your grammar readable.

I think this would be forum games actually, not roleplaying.

I debated it, but there IS some level or RP that goes on in this, and Forum Games seem more drop-in, drop-out whereas this does need a sign-up and a consistent cast.

There's already a thread in the forum games section dedicated to hosting games of mafia/werewolf.

I didn't see it since it hasn't been posted in for a month. And I figured I might as well try it over here, too.

I'd be interested in this if it did play up the R Ping aspect.

The and only time I've played Mafia before, it invovled three spies of varying nationalities on a Russian Nuclear submarine with a Commissar hunting them; assassinations had to be hidden in dialogue next to tells (The Winner was a French Narcoleptic Spy who signaled who he wanted to kill by yawning. I was an American who signaled it by alluding to Food of some sort, the nature of which I don't recall).

If so, I'd argue that Mafia has equal right to be in the R Ping board and I'd toss my hat in.

As for R Ping opportunities, each character will be given a short backstory along with their Role PM. Some backstories may provide clues to who is a killer... or have misdirections ;)
