Alright. Just caught the Gladstone ep.
Man, what a douche.
Then again, this episode shows that his luck can be bad even when it's good (getting caught by a being who feeds off luck and all).
And Launchpad's Noodle Incident was humorous. Still want to imagine Darwing showed up and they teamed up to kick some ass, just because it amuses me.
One Strip! One Strip!Best part of the episode to me was still the ending, Just how tired Scrooge McDuck sounds.

" I'm the princess! Everyone has to do what I say!"I had trouble understanding Donald as he and Scrooge are trying to leave, and he says "I get it! You're the (can't make out what he says here)! I'm not! I'm fine!
thanks

Lui Hai is based on a Daoist deity called Lui Haichan. He's often represented carrying a gold toad on top of a pile of coins. I guess they did go to Chinese folklore for this villain. I give them extra points for this.
Your the cool uncle, I'm not.
Also Rob how was the Beaks episode. I want to check it out for myself, but I don't know how. (I am Canadian so their is a possibly I could try and catch it on TV. But I don't know the channel or time or if it will repeat.)
I don't think it comes out until next week.
it got aired n canada
Interesting.
I think Donald's bad luck is weaponized in several comics yes
For those of you Canadians who want to watch the Beaks ep, it should be on again today on the Canadian version of Disney XD, so if you have that channel, you'll be able to catch it.
...I think.
One Strip! One Strip!I wonder when its going to air in the Netherlands.
Optimism is a duty.Should we add The Nicknamer or something to Gladstone's character page? By my count, he calls Donald "D-Money", "D-Squared", "Donaldo", and "Big D", and calls Scrooge "Scroogey McBillions", "Screwdriver McDollar Signs" and Uncle McDuckle.

Yes, that sounds right. It does seem to be his thing.
Optimism is a duty.Yeah it says it will air again in an hour and a half. So I will be checking it out.
Also, does anyone know what Donald was saying after he decides to leave and Gladstone is trying to convince him to stay? I got the "I came to help you, and you just embarrass me in front of the boys" bit, but I'm having trouble with his next line. I've listened to it several times and I just can't make it out. These were the only two lines in the episode that I really had a hard time with, so I'm guessing that they just didn't translate into Donald Speak that well.

I'm Done. Was the line after that.
Also watched the Beaks episode. Beaks is a awful person. Along with being obnoxious, he is a lair and a fraud.

I think someone already asked that exact same question... in almost exactly those words.
He says "You're the cool uncle, I'm not."
Optimism is a duty.So he said that that twice?
I asked about that line too, but I was referring to an earlier bit,
Donald: Oh, I give up. I came to help you and instead you embarrass me in front of the boys.
Gladstone: I wasn't trying to embarrass you. I just wanted to give you and the fam a taste of the good life.
I can't make out what Donald says in response.
Gladstone: Winners, losers, who cares! If you want to impress them, keep playing!

Ah. The line is
Gladstone: I wasn't trying to embarrass you. I just wanted to give you and the fam a taste of the good life.
Donald: By showing them I'm a loser.
Gladstone: Winners, losers, who cares! If you want to impress them, keep playing!

Thanks, that's really helpful. Donald can be tough, particularly when he has a lot of one syllable words or soft indistinct sounds.
Does Gladstone's luck ever have a sort of umbrella effect indirectly benefiting the people around him, like Louie also getting a new suit for free? He seemed to assume that Donald's bad luck would sort of rub off on him to break his winning streak, and seems frustrated when he finds out it only effects Donald.
And I added house of the the Lucky Gander to the Fringe page, if anyone has anything they want to add.

I don't think Gladstone's luck has made other people lucky by association or proximity, but several stories deal with the fact that his luck draws in folks who attempt to leech off his lifestyle by befriending him.
Here's an odd idea of Defictionalization. Anybody else want Liu Hai's playing cards as a possible form of merchandise?
" I'm the princess! Everyone has to do what I say!"I mean, Disney has history towards things like that with their Villains merch line, but I don't think it has ever expanded beyond the animated canon. I don't think I've ever seen a piece of official Disney merchandise tied to the baddies of their TV shows.
And I just found someone doing a Ducktales Liveblog
