The High School Files (An Edge Town DF RP)

L Mage is atm writing the Epilogue to Arc 2 and we are thus a bit in the waiting queue till Arc 3.

So I decided to kill some time with this:

Dresden Files - The High School Years.

Basically, a fuck-serious-logic AU in which we all have Dresden Files chars in a High School.

This does not mean you *have* to do your Edge Town char. Characters from math792d's DFRP game are also welcome, though new players will get a bit more scrutiny in terms of char idea than the ones we know.

Furthermore: You don't need to play *your* char as it is. You can play their future kid, their little sibling, you can have your char age-regress back to 16 with magic (Looking at you Kos?), you can bring in other char idea's you had modified for the game, etc etc.

I don't expect this to run long, and in fact don't even plan to GM it beyond maybe sometimes ringing the break over or the like.

This is basically a "we all hang out in the High School" game to kill time.

• Name: Nadya
• Age: 14
• High Concept: Hammer Delinquent
• Type of Character: Hammer Wielder
• Background: A Freshman in the High School, Nadya and her girlfriend Anfisa stole the hammer of Thor a year ago when he was a Senior in HS. He still doesn't know what happened to it, even after he left for High School. Nadya and Anfisa live together with foster parents and got in trouble a lot in middle school for making ruckus. They only graduated because the Middle School Principal really didn't want to deal with them any longer than he had to.
• Looks: Nadya is thin a wiry with pale skin, black hair, and green eyes. She wears a torn, baggy t-shirt and torn, baggy pants with shoes that are too big for you. She has a sweet Johnny Bravo backpack she stole where she keeps her hammer and sunglasses she also stole.
• Skills: Nadya is a great pickpocket and shoplifter. She sucks at all her classes, but is great at slacking off. She's athletic and great at sneaking around and hiding. Also, she has Mjolnir.

• Name: Terrence "Terry" Talbot
• Age: 16
• High Concept: Rookie Therianthrope
• Character Type: Therianthrope Much to the shock of everyone who read the last bullet.
• Background: Terry got a weird book for his last birthday that supposedly contained instructions on taking the form of a wolf. He tried it out on a lark, and to his surprise found that they actually worked. Just, er, not quite as expected. He thinks it's still technically a wolf, because he's pretty sure they can interbreed and his bio text says that's the definition of a species, but, well...
  • It's a corgi, okay? And if you wanna make something of it your ankles are his.

  • The knowledge that magic is real has made finding out more about it his new driving goal in life. The fact that the first magic he learned about is goofy as hell has led him to believe that the eldritch underground is essentially harmless, so things like hammer-stealing Russians commonly mistaken for psychopaths should come as a nasty shock.
• Looks: In human form he's a bland-looking kid of no readily-identifiable ethnicity. His face could be used for a generic NPC portrait. In corgi form he looks like a corgi, i.e. adorable and in need of petting.
• Skills: While not guileful by nature, he knows how to lie convincingly and has parental permission to forge their signatures if he really needs to and doesn't make a habit of it. He's also a mythology geek, which is only sometimes applicable to the realities of things going bump in the night.

Name: Emmanuelle „Manu“ Pudique

Age: 16

High Concept: Vampire Hitgirl (in Training).

Type: White Court Virgin

Background: Manu Pudique is the daughter of a Vampire. She knew that from a young age, just as she knew her own desire to become one. Too bad her mom really doesn’t want her to turn before she can make an „informed decision“ on it. And when your mother is a professional hit woman, getting some alone time with a boy or girl can be really difficult.

At least she gets to shoot stuff (and sometimes even people) to relieve built up tension, because while her mother thinks she should also make an informed decision on following in her career footsteps, knowing how to shoot a guy in the head is something that can help you in every life choice you make.

So Manu Pudique is still in school, still a human (more or less), still a Virgin…with the training standards and lethality of a professional assassin

This is going to end well...

Looks: Tall, slender, light skin and red hair.◊ To anyone who has seen her mother see's the obvious resemblance in her, though Manu still has "soft edges" to her, as people can see the supernatural hotness she would have as a vampire in her (until now) only natural hotness. And since the school has a very effective sex-ed class (especially regarding the White Court) this is not going to chance soon.

Skills: Manu is highly experienced with all forms of firearms, preferring either handguns or sniper rifles. While she is officially "only" the head of the school target-shooting club, there have been reports of a teenage redhead sniper running around in central america during summer break. There are also persistent rumors of her knowing exactly how to beat the schools metal detectors. Per her mothers training, Manu is also quite the social character, knowing how to talk and charm people. As a side effect of her hitwoman training, she is also quite fit, leading to her get drafted for a number of sport things in the school

Manu is the "I was bored" Daughter of Mireille Pudique, my Whampire Hitwoman character I made for the DFRP GM, built for a hypothetical "ET:TNG" thing math and I make jokes over sometimes.

Manu is basically Mireille, baked with some high school beauty tropes and a healthy dose of Sousuke Sagara added over time.

High Concept: Blowing Crap Up For Fun & Profit

Type of Character: Human, Small-Talent (Alchemy)

Background: A high school senior that's eager to get out and actually do something with her life. In the meanwhile, she abuses the school science lab in making weird, interesting, and potentially dangerous potions. Sometimes she sells them to other students. Her mother, the Witch of the family, does not approve...but what doesn't know won't get Anne grounded, right?

Looks: Dark brown hair that reaches her waist, held back in frizzy pigtails. Matching brown eyes. Lots and lots and lots of freckles all over, the occasional burn on her hands, and wears glasses with silver frames. Prefers jeans & t-shirts (since they're easiest to clean up after "accidents").

Skills: Making potions; drawing elements of the world into a physical, mixable form; photographic memory. Excelling in science and cooking classes, but her physical education grade is horrible from her skipping out to use the lab whenever she can.

And we're three for three on other PCs terrifying Terry!

@Three: I was originally thinking that since Terry couldn't morph into an apex predator anymore I should make the other form better in a fight. But anime physics means I can just flying kick people as a corgi, so score.

Name:Sofie Leasdatter

Age: 16

High Concept: Honest-to-Odin Berserker

Type of Character: Lycanthrope.

Background: Youngest child of three, and the only one to end up with her father's connection to animal spirits, Sofie learned very quickly to duck, cover, and not say a whole lot. Unfortunately this didn't sit well with her hammy extrovert father who decided that sending her off to an American high school seemed like a sensible idea.

Looks: About 5'11, built lean and wiry, much like a wolf, with short-cropped dark brown hair, blue eyes, very baggy pants with lots of pockets and a pitch black t-shirt.

Skills: Sword fighting. Axe fighting. Any kind of melee weapon, really. Surprisingly fond of, and good at, reading and mathematics. Also very good at death glares.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.

Well, I think we have enough to start with, but since this is hardly a real RP and more a chance to crack rp the signups are open and will remain so for a while :D

• High Concept: Burning stuff down for fun and SCIENCE!

• Type of Character: Wizard

• Background: Colby is a pyromaniac wizard who somehow managed to get tenure as a high school science teacher. Many suspect a deal with the devil. Or possibly some fire-aligned deity is watching over him to help spread the gospel of flame.

• Looks: Colby is half Irish half Hispanic decidedly average in height for a dude, and hair as black as coal, and eyes as brown as firewood.

• Skills: Fire Magic. One of the best fire mages in the entire world. Highly athletic. Many claim due to needing to run from one too many fires that got out of control. They're not wrong. Pretty knowledgeable about science and chemistry as befits his job but truly excels when it comes to violent exothermic reactions.

• High Concept: Very Angry Nerd

• Type of Character: Wizard, technically.

• Background: Robin came from a rather strict and spartan upbringing - his father and mother trained him nonstop in magic, and never really gave Robin the chance to make many friends. He attached himself to nerdy interests whenever he could, trying to withdraw inward. He has a chip on his shoulder when it comes to high school, and feels he needs to definitively prove himself as one of the top students. He tends to, due to his lack of social skills and experience, believe highly in stereotypes and accepted notions. Due to this and some legitimate problems with other students, he has a strong anger toward people involved in sports and other such occupations. Robin, though, mentions an interest in drama and theatre, and mathematics and linguistics. Inside, however, is someone who veritably seethes at how things are, and is constantly planning ways to try to humiliate the jocks - even if they didn't do anything to him this week. He is followed by Jake Wistinzki and Andrew Ristfeld. That they're called the Terrible Trio should tell you how successful they (usually) are.

• Looks: A tall, very thin youth, Robin has a shock of black hair on his head that is usually poorly combed and badly styled. He prefers wearing a black leather trench coat, a white t-shirt with "SURVIVE" written on it in black ink, black jeans, and sneaker shoes.

• Skills: Robin is skilled in one area of magic in particular - he's skilled in making things explode. He mostly chucks rocks and makes them explode, but is recently learning there may by other applications for his explosive magic. Robin is also skilled at "putting on appearances".

I'm sorry, Nick. I'm going to say no to that.

This sounds like a char meant for a drama or serious game...which this is not planned to be.

Having the entire school do anime-esque shenanigans and one guy running around all dark, angry, broody and, to be brutally frank with you for a moment, seeming like the fox news stereotype of a school shooter plus Malfoy-esque goon's does not seem workable to me.

Alright, I'll give it another try - er, how about this time, I make a version of my character "Zachaia". She's essentially a shapeshifter of sorts, has a number of powers that'd indicate a bad person...

...and she's actually a complete and total ditz, among other things. All told one of my less "broody" characters.
