amiibos!: or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Give Nintendo My Money

I'd much rather not talk about that guy. I'm sure a lot of amiigos/amiibros (and non-fans as well) feel the same way.

IIRC he was never real, just a persona made to piss people off. He was definitely a scalper though.

The guy is the infamous Youtube troll Mariotehplumber. He is largely known for making a shitload of negative reviews for 3D Sonic games, and claiming that "Mario and Zelda are the only good game series."

Alright, I'll bite. Before the whole amiibo incident, Mariotehplumber was known for constantly praising the "classic Sonic" and bashing the "modern Sonic."

His hatred of Rosalina came completely out of nowhere; I wasn't really aware that he hated her before Wave 3 was about to hit stores, and there was nothing in his earlier videos that hinted it. The only reason I can think of for his hate obsession is because of her exposure in recent Mario games.

He showed up in Smashboards as well and had arguments with the people from the Rosalina boards as well.

He's pretty much just an idiot.

Does anyone know if Best Buys will be opening earlier for Dark Pit's release or will they all remain the same with their opening times?

I don't really know, but I wouldn't be able to get to my Best Buy anyways because I'm hanging out with my friends tomorrow.

They are getting me something for my birthday, and I theorize that it could be one of the following:

• An Xbox LIVE subscription for a year
• An amiibo (If they ran into a reprint of a character that they know I want)
• Mario Party 10
• Splatoon

I didn't even ask them to get me anything so I don't know what I'll get.

Actually, did some research, turns out they'll open at the same time as always. Don't know how packed things will be up where I'm going, but I plan to get there early enough that I should be able to get a spot if they plan to pull any ticket system or something.

Well, since I missed Palutena, I guess I'll have to deal with scalpers. Might as well grab Rosalina too.

Yes since it's only double MRSP price.

It's better than what it used to be. There's no indication of any restocks for her outside of random NWS ones, so I'd just go for that one, unless you want to try and see if Target will restock her again.

Eh, I wouldn't go by that logic. Sometimes it's better to wait for restocks, especially if it's one of the more commonly restocked ones. It's also worth noting that Amazon isn't the only place to import amiibo. You can often get better prices by just going to a different site like Ami Ami or various European import sites.

Yeah, I'm pretty much waiting out for a Lucina restock. Even if I can't get one that day, more of Lucy in the wild should level out her third-party price a bit.

and I'll concur in the cases of Lucina, Shulk, and (I think) King Dedede. All of whom are more than double the MRSP price.

$25 is how much I got Rosalina (Japanese import) at Amazon, so I'd say go for it.

If you're aiming for multiple rares, you might want to wait until the price drops to at least less than double MSRP.

If you're only getting a few, though, it is possible to be a tad more liberal with how much you're spending.

I'm doing one at a time for rares. Unless it's a holiday where I get money to spend. THEN I'll do multiple rares at once.

I'm trying to think who I should get with Shulk. I guess it depends on how much money I get and what people get me for my birthday.

If you're getting Shulk and have enough money for it, I'd go with either Xenoblade Chronicles X or Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS.

I'm saving X for Christmas and I lack a New Nintendo 3DS for Xenoblade 3D. Plus, I have the original Wii game. My Christmas wishlist is largely going to be Star Fox Zero, Mario Maker, and Xenoblade. Maybe some Japanese imported amiibo (unlikely, since I might end up getting the characters I'd want by then).

I was intending on buying other amiibos with Shulk (since I'm importing him to begin with)

I killed two birds with one stone today and managed to pick up Dark Pit and Greninja.

Now I have Pit, Palutena, and Dark Pit—all within a week, no less. Kid Icarus is the first franchise I complete. Who'd've thunk it?

Well it does have only 3 amiibo for it (so far).

But all of them are going to end up rare, assuming Dark Pit doesn't last for long. I'm just surprised I didn't have to import any of them.

Getting one amiibo from the Kirby series, let alone three, is going to be tough, too.
