Michael chuckled, knowing Amelia's concerns.

"Like I said, it's okay for you to be discreet in your answers if you're not sure."

"Looks like the village."

Mark noted when he got a good look at the horizon. He got a confirmation on the radio that they're on the right track.

"Radio everyone to get ready. Our destination's up ahead."

The front passenger nodded and used the manpack radio to do the task.

"...icker Man," Brittaney was saying, the conversation somehow having gone to music. "That one where they were on that giant swing, that was awesome as well, but when their albums were, All Glory to the Electric Chair or some death metal crap that's a sure turn off. Now..." she paused as Mark radioed about the village, looking out at the other vehicles and saw one of them slowing down. Brittaney could see immediately what the problem was and leaned out the window, her hand raised in a fist giving the universal military signal to stop, if there were such a thing. "Hold up, looks like like we got a flat tyre." The Hawarri vehicles were probably in better condition than her aging, sturdy Honda 4WD back home, and she was more knowledgeable on aircraft than vehicle maintenance, but she could change a wheel over at least, and figured she could at least lend a hand.

The convoy received more information via radio that they should be able to see the town up ahead.

They were also told to be on the lookout for a slightly damaged Minaret.

Mark reported back that he can see on the horizon.

Amelia keyed her radio: "pass the word! Footsloggers, pr'-pare to dismount!" Gripping the edge of the hatch, she ducked down to repeat the message. "Weps tight," she added, before popping back out of the hatch, one hand on the machine gun.

"Take us in, four hundred meters," said Sergeant Akide calmly to their driver; for his part ag Mahmoud answered with a terse "yes" and worked the gears as smoothly as he could.

The LAV lurched slightly, then swung to approach the village.

The lead jeep informed the convoy to stop.

At the command, the recon soldiers kept their weapons trained at the horizon while one of the recon soldiers radioed Amelia that it was clear to send out the EOD experts, currently dressing up in bomb blast suits.

"Wot I'd give for proper air recon," muttered Amelia. She faced a quandary: the engineers' advance would be very slow and very vulnerable, yet every moment they hung around out here was another moment their informant would be at risk. Four hundred meters of territory...

She rapped the armored deck of her vehicle. "Brittaney," she muttered. "Opinion?"
