Honestly, I think that illustrates another trope better than this one.
Also wary of using the same scene for both the image and the page quote, although one or the other can easily be changed, surely.
Moon◊It's an example of playing with the trope. Not sure if that makes a good page image. A straightforward picture of a robot with prominent antennae might be better.
Something basic?
Sure. It's just an image of a robot with an antennae and the examples section is just a list of robots with antennae.
In other words, it's being used as another borderline PSOC appearance trope? That's kind of depressing...I actually liked the idea of "If antennae, then robot" being exploited to fool guards.

Too unusual. Let's keep this simple.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.I wouldn't quite say ear antennae are too unusual. It's a distinct subtrope, though.
Not sure if I prefer the added suggestion or the simple robot, though.
Check out my fanfiction!Well my issue with this is this trope supposed to be 'Robots with an antenna' or 'antenna are one of the signs that X is a robot along with not human joints'?
The former just seems meh trope wise but Clank is a good image, the latter I think is a thing and Chachamaru is a good example the OP misses the mark a bit.
Chachamaru even gets lampshades by The Meta Guy in the manga with a line like 'look at those ears they are obviously antenna, why doesn't anyone care that there is a freaking robot in our class?!' (Paraphrased)

That just looks like large pointed robot ears, not antennae.
I'm with the duck on this one. I like my suggestion and the plain robot in 5 about equally.
What we need is a picture which essentially says: "If Antenna Then Robot." I think my original suggestion does that fairly well, since Annie is basically saying "look, I have antennae therefore I'm a robot."
It might work with a very human-like robot which has antennae, but it would need other obvious robot details in order not to be mistaken for a human wearing either an ear-piece or a bionic implant.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMfor #5.
The main problem I see with 5 is that the antenna isn't obviously denoting that this is a robot. It's just sort of... there... and not very noticeable either.
Could we perhaps make a collage of robots which all have antennae? It seems to me that would say "robots have antennae" more clearly.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMMost robots actually do not have antenna actually.
Looking at the trope I am seeing a lot of misuse too, such as the Gundam mech's V-fin isnt an antenna in any continuity. It was a design choice when they made the Gundam head resemble a Roman Centurion's helm crossed with a samurai like decoration and it just became iconic.
And stuff like "Clank from Ratchet & Clank is an example.'
Hell I would say 95% of all robots do not have them, even most 70s robots did not have antennas.

It's worth noting that the current is on PaperThinDisguise.Webcomics.
I don't think that a collage would do anything other than create extra work. I'll give a weak support vote for 5, given the issues other people have pointed out, but it's still an illustration of the trope.
Ah, I had a feeling that pic was somewhere else...thanks for the find.
Ugh. I didn't know/remember it had already been used. On the strength of that, I guess 5 is the best we can do for now, barring returning it to no pic.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMClock is set.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRe-clocked. I've pulled the current over the duplication issue and tagged the page. 5 works well enough; possibly captioned "No, that's not a joystick."?
Why is there so little love for the Ratchet & Clank example in #5? Does it not illustrate?
It is iffy on if it's the trope or not and kinda started a People Sit On Chairs debate on this trope. Like an antenna on a Humanoid Robot is a visual cue that it is a robot but what is the trope if a robot robot has it like Clank?
This one's dead in the water. Locking up.

I've added an image to this page which was previously without an image. I know that it's okay to do this without opening a discussion, but I want to open this up in case someone else has a better suggestion or alternatively to "lock in" my suggestion as the official page image.
