If someone's sending you rude PMs, report them. We can investigate directly. The "new PM" bar showing up is a long-standing bug that will get fixed sooner or later.

One thing to do in these cases is to have all messages by a certain person read before blocking them. I did have a similar issue when I blocked someone before I had read all their messages.

I had, but further messages still triggered the green bar
Old forums let me be logged on multiple devices. Now it doesn\'t, and I don\'t feel like fighting my phone every time I want to post.

The blocklist is faulty. I had someone get very rude with me after a series of P Ms and after blocking them, the "you have a message" bar still showed up from them sending me messages.
Their messages didn't appear in my mailbox but it rather defeats the purpose of "blocking" someone if the message still goes through and I would be unable to know if anyone else had messaged me.
