Edited because it wasn't actually a good idea.[nja]

I do not see any reason or benefit at all for having an age restriction on certain pages. The issue with Google has to do with them not liking having their ads on pages over certain subjects, and the 5P thing was because of articles on creepy subjects and written in a creepy fashion. Nothing to do with age stuff.

Besides, our policies already disallow writing articles in a racy manner - see Family Friendly. And having trigger warnings in the past has resulted in people going crazy with them.

Also, I feel obliged to note that no media rating system I know of is as strict as what you are proposing. Even the MPAA rating system doesn't censor any mention of sexuality ever.

Adding to this: our site is for adults. Kids are welcome but are expected to be mature enough to handle the facts of swearing, sexuality, violence, and so forth. People who are so sensitive to triggering material that merely reading about it will harm them should not be here.

As noted, we cannot directly or by implication accept responsibility for negative reactions experienced by individuals who participate here.

Good points. I was suggesting those changes mostly because I was thinking of ways that we could avoid future problems, but if what we have is good enough, I'm fine with that too :)

Locking this, then.
