Yeah, that's bad. I can't find another version of it through GIS.
Clock is set.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWould this◊ do? It's from Nineteen Eighty-Four.
(Annoyed grunt)That's alright.
^^ For all I know, this could be a real book.
Any image short of "Fake Book by Madeup Guy" is going to be subject to that same objection from someone. So, either the objection can be ignored or we would have to make the page imageless.
Yes, telling apart a fictional document from a real one is not possible without minimal context, which can be provided by the caption. With this in mind, the suggestion is fine.
How about this one?

That one should at least be well-known enough to escape Fan Myopia.
Check out my fanfiction!I'm partial to 9. I'd like to think that the fact that Victor Frankenstein is a fictional character is well-known enough to avoid any Fan Myopia issues.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. What exactly am I supposed to be seeing in 9 that is so obviously fictional?
^ Please read post #8. We have no intention of dumbing-down images to the point that absolutely no knowledge of anything but the latest tabloid furor is needed to understand them.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The current image, blurry as it may be, is already pretty much "dumbed down" to that level. While it may not be possible to prove that such a thing doesn't exist in real life, such a thing as a "non-alphabetical dictionary" at least seems wildly improbable. That quality of ludicrousness only serves to improve the clarity of the image (and is also mildly amusing), so I don't understand why you're so disdainfully dismissing the idea of at least trying to find a replacement with that same quality.
So try to find one.

EDIT: Okay, I think the link should work now.

That is good for Image Links, but I prefer 9, both for legibility and image quality.
I got a higher quality screenshot and brightened it a bit. How does it look now?
I like the "Beck" nameplate at the top, but I suppose the original image could be cropped down to just the book and resized accordingly if necessary.

I'm adding my vote for 9. I like that it's a good quality photograph yet of an obviously fictional book.
Edit: It's also unlikely that the story of Frankenstein would decline in popularity.

Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMClose-up:
I like 9, for the record.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanWell, either of them is better than my offering, but 9 has my preference.

(Annoyed grunt)I prefer 21, but I can easily get behind 9.
It's timed out and so far it appears that 9 is ahead in the poll. Do we have enough for a consensus or do we need a crowner?

Nothing against the example per se (not that I have any idea about the source), but the picture is awfully blurry. It needs either a quality upgrade, or a better suggestion.
