IDK where to send ideas so I\'m posting this here. If there\'s a dedicated forum for this, feel free to move it.

With the site getting a new beginning, I was thinking of making a trope page for an MMO game I\'m passionate about called Rise of Champions. However, there\'s no easy way to do this. There\'s a page templates section, but that\'s about it.

I was thinking: maybe there could be an \"Make a Work Page\" section under tools or wherever it would fit. You\'d choose the media type(Live action TV, webcomic, etc.), enter the name of the work, and then you\'d get sent to the edit url to get started.

Thoughts?

There is a thread here named Overhauling Page Creation where such has been considered, for the record.

That sounds like a good idea. The "Create New" buttons should allow any of the many namespaces to be easily created.

We should have at least a few different "Create New" buttons for as many of the Namespaces as reasonably possible.

One thing to consider is the new database that's supposed to be tagging articles and examples. Hopefully it'll be possible to not only hit the "create new works" button and automatically place the page in the right namespace, set page type, etc, but also to automatically wick the examples on the appropriate pages.

That kind of automation probably isn't possible, since you usually write the examples slightly different on work pages and on trope pages.

Would be nice to have an easy way to see what tropes/works aren't crosswicked, though.

That kind of auto-crosswicking feature is a default consequence of the database overhaul. The issue with several examples needing different writeups will have to be addressed, though.

If I had to guess, any serious overhaul to creating pages is probably waiting for and could happen concurrently with the database overhaul.

This is more of a 2.0 issue than for the current iteration of the site; locking.
