A main Pokémon game on the Switch would imply that Game Freak is willing to expand on the series as opposed to taking out features on the weak basis of them being "one-shot gimmicks."
And God knows that they aren't. The fact that Kimishima said that a 3DS successor is being considered is probably going to kill any chances of the Skyrim-sized Pokémon everyone wants.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Yeah, I'm not so sure they're being specific on whether it's a home or handheld console. Professionals need to make that difference.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. They specified Wii U or Vita-quality models.
Which is approximately what you want on the Switch. (see: Zelda, Dragon Quest Heroes, and how those ports performed)
I'm not sure a 3DS successor would exceed the Vita, and it certainly wouldn't approach the Wii U.

x4 I don't think it's a good idea to assume everyone wants a certain thing. That stinks too much of treating one's opinion and desires as something universal among the fanbase.
Pokemon on the Switch means nothing at this stage besides a Pokemon game being on the Switch.
Their design philosophy can't be gleaned when all we know about it at the time is that Gamefreak is hiring people to work on it.
Stronger hardware doesn't necessarily mean more ambitious game design. If anything, they're going to be even more conservative than usual, considering this is very different ground for Gamefreak to cover.
We do know that their approach will change for a Switch entry, but we don't know how specifically.
Remember that one direct we had couple years back that was basically announcing small things that happened about a week before E3?
I think that's this kind of Direct.
Also, speaking of Pokemon, whatever they will announce will be at E3.

Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*“Our various E3 activities will showcase the next steps for Nintendo Switch, from a summer of social competitive gaming to a holiday season highlighted by a milestone Mario adventure,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO, Nintendo of America. “With Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3, fans at home can watch in-depth gameplay of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS games launching this year.”
Nintendo’s E3 activities kick off Tuesday, June 13, at 9 a.m. PT with its Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 video presentation. Available to view live at http://e3.nintendo.com, this presentation will offer more details about Super Mario Odyssey and other Nintendo Switch games, with a focus on games launching in 2017.
Immediately following Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017, Nintendo is once again bringing back Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3, a live-streamed showcase of upcoming games for Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Gameplay for all the featured games will be streamed from the E3 show floor June 13 to June 15 via http://e3.nintendo.com, as well as on Nintendo’s channels on You Tube and Twitch. In addition to gameplay, the livestream will include behind-the-scenes info and commentary from game developers and members of the Nintendo Treehouse.
When Nintendo’s booth space opens at noon on June 13, show attendees will be among some of the first people in the world to get their hands on Super Mario Odyssey, as well as other games for Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Odyssey is Mario’s first sandbox-style game since Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.
In addition to all of these activities, Nintendo will also host game tournaments that will be live-streamed from the E3 show floor. The 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational splats onto the scene on June 13 and features Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch. Composed of four pre-qualified squid squads from the U.S., Japan, Europe and Australia/New Zealand, the tournament will find teams participating in the first-ever international Splatoon 2 competition. The second tournament, the 2017 ARMS Open Invitational, takes place on June 14 and will feature Nintendo’s upcoming ARMS fighting game for Nintendo Switch.
Further details about Nintendo’s activities at E3, including information about the tournaments, will be shared closer to the event. For more information about Nintendo’s activities and announcements at E3 2017, visit http://e3.nintendo.com.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Yeah, I noticed that later. Was doing it real quick. Not going to change it though.
Nintendo is inviting the r/Nintendo mods to E3.
So recently you probably have seen that Nintendo has joined Reddit with their very own PR account (/u/Nintendo_America)! Why this matters is that recently, we were contacted by Reddit Administrators with an offer from Nintendo. As they are ramping up their involvement using Reddit as a social platform, they wanted to give thanks to the moderators of a number of established Nintendo communities. This gift covers admission into E3, 2017. This gift does not include any other expenses such as travel, food, hospitality..etc. Any members taking Nintendo up on this offer do so with the consent that nothing changes day to day on our community and Nintendo does not receive special treatment with content on the sub. This gift is being handled through Reddit administrators and not through the direct contact with Nintendo. These are one pass per person and are for mods of /r/nintendo (and a few other subreddits as well). Per the Reddit Administrator’s own wording
Acceptance of these passes comes with the understanding and agreement that no moderation actions shall be taken on behalf of Nintendo or partners as a result of these passes.
For the purposes of full disclosure, here’s a list of the moderators of /r/nintendo that will be going: /u/Iwata Fan /u/Spahsgonna Spah /u/rockincellist /u/The Scottish Lion /u/Hayden Davenport /u/Giant X /u/Razor Beamz
What we want to do is provide better coverage of e3 than in any of the years prior. How are we gonna do that, you ask? The mods that are gonna be at e3 will try to figure out what you guys want, going to see what you want to see and doing what you want them to do (within reason of course). We want to tailor our coverage of the event entirely towards what you, /r/nintendo, want. If you guys have any questions that you want our moderation team attending find out the answers to, ask away! You may see it either answered in the sub, or in our Hello Nintendo podcast!
We also want to state that we are in no way gonna stray from discussions that may show Nintendo in a not-so-perfect way. All of the moderators will have full access to everything on the show floor, however our coverage here on the subreddit, social media, twitch, and the Hello Nintendo podcast will be focused on Nintendo. We will have another post that will flesh out more of our e3 plans closer to, but this topic deserved its own post.
Thank you for being so understanding and again, if you have any questions about anything that may have been unclear, or just generally, feel free to ask right here!
ARMS focused Direct at 11 pm UTC tomorrow.
Also, includes a Splatoon 2 trailer.◊

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Do I get to say I called it when it was one of three possibilities I brought up?
...Didn't we just have an Arms'n'Splatoon direct?
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! The last direct had quite a bit of information on ARMS and Splatoon 2, but it also had a lot of information on upcoming 3DS games, so it wasn't really a "focused" Direct.
I'm reading it as a direct about ARMS, with a new Splatoon trailer also being posted the same day.
Man, I'd love another "here's a bunch of game news, plus extended info on the things mentioned in the press release" direct.
I have a message from another time...Things from the Direct:
- A bit of backstory to the world in ARMS. Apparently, no one is quite sure where ARMS came from, and folks like Spring Man are people who Just Woke Up That Way.
- The three remaining characters in ARMS: Kid Cobra (a snake-like fella), Byte and Barq (robot police officer with a separate puppy-bot that can also throw punches), and Twintelle (who has normal arms, and instead throws punches with her hair)
- Free update model similar to Splatoon. Expect new fighters, stages, and ARMS.
- Many game-modes shown off; up to twenty people can play online.
- Global Testpunch next week and the first week of June.
I completely forgot about this Direct.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Also...

The hype! It is REAL!
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I'm more interested in ARMS than I previously have been. I wanna try the Testpunches, but I'm Switchless :(
Oh, and Splatoon 2, that still looks cool, and I have no doubt it's gonna be amazing.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*8-minute Pokemon Direct announced. June 6 at 7:00 a.m. PT/10:00 a.m. ET.
Since it's that short, it's probably Pokken Switch and Stars and a mobile game. Probably less. It can't be a new gen, right?
edited 5th Jun '17 7:33:11 AM by Malco
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!
Guess I'm misremembering.
Those only got so much hype because they were a new generation, so they did a 2-minute Direct showing a lot of nothing. Stars is more like ORAS in importance.
Yes, first Switch Pokemon game. But it's still just a third version, according to rumours.
