I guess Chibi-Robo pulled the plug on the Direct in revenge for his series.

That image is promo art for Zip Lash, actually. The resemblance to that Elmo meme is (probably) coincidence.

God, I wish Chibi-Robo still existed. Also, I wish that they hadn't hedged all their bets on a really uninspired, average 2D platformer. Like, why would you put the "last chance to be a success" game into a genre that is already well represented, maybe even overly represented on Nintendo systems, by much better games (one of which came out the effing week after, at least in NA) made mostly by studios who already have a history of making great 2D platformers? Like, even if you didn't want to make a Chibi-Robo game with similar mechanics to previous entries, there are so many other things you could have done with it.

Seriously, WHEN'S NEXT DIRECT?

At one point Nintendo Direct was trending...when there isn't even one.

Calling it now, there won't be a Direct tomorrow and then everyone will start complaining that Nintendo lied. Then they'll announce one for next week and everyone will stop.

If nothing else, I'm happy this fiasco has put Chibi-Robo in the spotlight to some extent.

Heard Rogers Base said Nintendo is going to stealth drop the Direct tomorrow.

Hope he's right.

EDIT: Here's someone else's line of reasoning.

The reason the No A account tweeted Chibi-Robo and the Nintendo NY account tweeted out a Mii in a Hot Dog costume is because Nintendo is hinting they will drop the Direct out of nowhere just like the separate Directs which announced the last Chibi-Robo game and Tomodachi Life.

I hope they announce some new Switch games that'll come out soon. My Switch library only has two games so far (Fire Emblem Warriors and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild), and I hope to add more to it soon.

I hope the fact that there being no image of Fire Emblem's Sigurd on fire yet isn't an indication that no Fire Emblem news will be presented during the next Direct.

It greatly amuses me how the Nintendo corner of the internet is losing its mind over this right now, and Nintendo's own accounts are adding the most bizarre fuel to the fire. Literally.

It seems Nintendo is declaring absolute anarchy on twitter

I hope this is how Nintendo's Twitter accounts carry themselves out from now on.

No silly Facebook memes, just... a ton of really bizarre and abstract posts that may or may not mean something when people around the Internet start to get really antsy.

They haven't really done this before, but I think they've just got their new marketing tactic.

And the fact that they're tossing fuel on the fire instead of just ignoring it is, in it's own way, evidence that there's something there.
