Agreed. It's probably the worst possible place to put them
It gave me an Ad Of Win by featuring Elsa on Cleanup Crew (talk about Fanfic Fuel)... but yeah, they should go.
Yes. Please get rid of them.
Plus, it goes right where a Trope Image should be, making it confusing as hell when a page doesn't have one. I just now had a "what does Kay Jewelers have to do with Death of the Author?" moment.

"If you're out here why do I miss you so much?"So not only is the square ad still where it's been, the bar ad at the bottom of the page has been moved up to above the indexes, thus making two ads needlessly intruding on valuable trope space. What was wrong with just leaving the adverts where they were? Oy...

I am finding it extremely jarring, too.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, I agree with that. I don't mind the other adds too much, but mistaking an add for actual wiki content is really annoying and confusing.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't real pleased with the new ad locations.
Crossposting:
This is the third day in the row an enormous square ad has been placed at the top of imageless articles, and there still isn't an official position on the matter. Not even "The ad placements are final." Simply put, no one's said anything about it. I really didn't want to, but if that's where the ads are staying for now, I'm going to have to use AdBlock. :/

I don't like it either.

I\'ll be blunt here. I don\'t like where block/square ads are located in the new layout (where an image would ordinarily be on pages that don\'t have one). It\'s tacky, it tastelessly shoehorns commercialism into page content, and it squishes everything next to the advertisement to the left, which plays havoc on readability for users of smaller monitors and looks especially bad on YMMV pages.
I didn\'t think their original location underneath the navigation templates was that intrusive, honestly...
