Link Monsters work with all three Extra Deck methods, though, so I imagine they at least will stay.

Do you think Vrains will toss out the other types, or will it continue the Arc V method of using everything along with the new feature?

I mean, the way it works now, Link Summoning is much more important, and other types seem to be more limited and bound to Link summoning.

I wonder if we'll see any Take Thats towards both Pendulum and Yuya? Like a character who has a similar philosophy to him, and uses Pendulums, and loses every match and is treated like a total joke by everyone.

I wonder how long it'll take someone to figure out how to summon Quasar in one turn with the Link mechanics. Come on, you know it's inevitable - this fandom can adapt to anything.

[up][up] Uh... I think you're taking those rumors of Japan hating Arc-V a bit too seriously. The only evidence I've ever see of those rumors being true is the low ratings or votes some later episodes had on some online site, but those could have easily been manipulated by trolls and such.

Honestly, I'm not expecting the other Extra Decks method to show up for a while. One, is that the first pack featuring Link so far had no new archetypes for them. Compare that to Duelist Alliance, which had at least one new archetype for each method. Two, is that they can't exactly go the Arc-V route and bring back old archetypes like they did with those 3 kids from LDS. This is due to the fact most old archetypes don't have the capability to make a Link, then go into their actual monster. Plus, they would have to make Links for the archetype, or use the generic ones, which wouldn't help make the duels entertaining.

In short, from what I've seen in terms of marketing and how the game works, Links are going to be prevalent for at least a decent part of the beginning. At best, I expect maybe a one off appearance like in 5ds with Jack and Yusei bringing a fusion out for one duel. And Kaito when he dueled Shark.

[up][up][up] How about him/her having a low-stakes duel, winning it on a ridiculous way and any spectators commenting on it having a lame ending.

By the way, is it time to create a Vrains discussion or should we wait till its premiere?

It premieres tomorrow, so I wouldn't call it too early to make one for it. Go ahead.

Yusaku is kind of a dick, some people aren't sold with the new gimmick, and some people may have ended up braindead, but that's just two episodes in.

@HamburgerTime: Took me about a day after the mechanic's announcement. People made triple-Quasar combos ages ago.

I found one of the Yu-Gi-Oh uncut DV Ds. A sad thing was since since that dub only got to episode 9 we'll never hear uncut Bakura in English XD;

The best line so far was "All duels will be performed using Duel Monsters cards."

Kaiba is the ultimate Yugioh fanboy, he even tired to go the afterlife to duel Yugi. He just plain got everyone in and out universe beat when it coems to fandom. tongue

I wish there was less methods and more strategy. I think XYZ should have been the last Summoning method, for one. XYZ and Synchro and diverse enough already, nobody needs dumb stuff like Pendulum or worse. Honestly, the main reason why I do not like Mt G, is because of how many variables it involves at the same time. I like time-strategy, not mass-distraction. As in, I like turn-after-turn combos, not swarming with details at the same time. Sure, that's kinda subjective, but I liked YGO for being the game where you could use many boosts on one card (doesn't mean that the card itself was O Ped, though) to make it the boss. But whatever. I hate how YGO became another cash cow for O Ped cards since early 2015.

[up][up] Take that up to the thread dealing with the actual card game, but just one thing compadre-o:

Xyz is the worst designed mechanic to the point where nearly all top-tier decks after it became relevant have been Xyz spam decks.

So that's why Fusion attacked!tongue

Welp, I'm gonna probably regret this, but I'll ask:

Rank the summoning systems from best to worst. I wanna hear what people have to say.

Link Summoning will be excluded since it's rather new.

Again, this is more for the thread dealing with the actual card game, but here goes anyway:

Xyz < Ritual < Pendulum < Fusion < Synchro

Xyz is too goddamn easy to use and the fact you can splash a rank 4, even if it isn't easy to get out, in every single solitary goddamn deck that isn't named Domain Monarchs is ridiculous. It's also the source of many cards that have accelerated the power creep, with Utopia the Lightning being a prime example of the fuckery.

Ritual is just shitty fusions and they need to break it to make it playable. Not quite the smartest designed thing in the world.

Pendulums are... okay. The inherent -2 is a nice tradeoff for the floating and they're easy to remove from the field, the issue with pendulum lies in the nonsensical card design Konami has been pulling lately. If they hadn't overcomplicated the pendulum effects and took lessons from say, dinomists and qliphort, I think we would have seen the healthiest summon mechanic to date.

Fusions are the O.G. big daddies and I like 'em. It's nice to have something that not every deck can play and thematically it's really cool, as well as the monsters in it very rarely breaking the game.

Synchro, however, takes the cake. It was the first time they played around with levels and boy did it pay off, the fact you had to run tuners was a nice way to make it so not every deck had access to them and the entire laddering aspect is something people still praise to this day. The only issue is that their powercreep started pretty high, with Goyo having been a generic 6 with 2800 ATK

Man, the amount of friendships after defeats in duels in Yu-Gi-Oh rivals the Care Bear Stare at times.

...Now I'm picturing a Care Bears AU. Yugi would be Tenderheart Bear, Tea Cheer Bear, Ryou Secret Bear, maybe Joey'd be Friend Bear and Tristan Champ Bear.

... Kaiba would definitely be Grumpy Bear.

I was reading/watching Battle City and the fusions, ritual monsters, and special summons from the graveyard not being able to attack the turn they were summoned really screwed some duelists over. I bet they sent letters to Kaiba about it afterward XD

I've been watching the last few eps of the Society of Light arc in GX.

Kenzan / Hasselberry....you don't make any fucking sense. You pretty much cross the logic line when you transformed into a spirit dinosaur and flew off into space.

What the hell man? I'll only accept the world being saved in a way that isn't stupid.

Dub Syrus actually pointing out the fact that he's rapidly losing screen time to the Overseas Champions will never not be funny.

According to DSOD and Transcend Game, Kaiba’s virtual deck is powered by his own brainwaves and memories, so there’s no need for a physical card to be there, and he can summon powerful cards by thinking about them and unearthing their memories. His technology has gotten really close to magic!

Good thing he didn’t start thinking of, say, Obelisk and then think of something like Toon World, though. XD I wonder what his deck would turn out like if he had flashbacks to Duelist Kingdom at the wrong time. I imagine a bunch of Blue-Eyes Toon Dragons XD
