Planning on waiting for subs as well.
From what i read Joey doesn't get to duel, kinda make some bullies back off but they just wait until he's gone and continue their business, has a montage of bad stuff happening to him on the way to school, and narrowly avoids getting killed by another dimension. And he wears a dog suit like in the anime to help pay for a new duel disk.
I don't know how that compares to Gohan in Resurrection F.
EDIT: "Others are annoyed by his continued shafting just to remove him from the spotlight and focus on Goku and Vegeta."
Sounds about right. XD;

The Protomen enhanced my life.Joey getting the shaft is strange because Takahashi wrote this and Joey's his favorite character.
Joey didn't get any new cards to promote this film, so It was obvious he wasn't going to duel.

I think 4Kids liked Joey better than the second-series anime guys. In Pyramid of Light he defeated tons of guys in duels offscreen, got parts of his duels onscreen, and got to fight a bunch of mummies alongside Tristan. In Capsule Monsters he punched out a Prisman, dodged a brainwashed Red-Eyes Black Dragon's attack, dodged a Battle Ox's axe and rolled to keep his balance, and blocked a Skull Knight's blade with his bare hands.
He can get funny moments, they just have to remember to make him awesome too XD

The Protomen enhanced my life.Of course 4Kids liked him better. The other guys are too busy with their Kaiba bias. I guess I should be thankful that Joey was actually able to graduate, cause, you know, someone would've found some comedy in him failing to even do that.

I saw at least one Joey fan speculating that his poor treatment in DSOD was Studio Gallop's fault, since they produced the second-series anime and approached Takahashi to work on the manga-based movie, to which he agreed. I'm not entirely sure how it all got started.
An interview for the movie also said Takahashi had forgotten what happened in the manga, so there's that, too.
Interviewer: Please tell us your impression about hearing of plans for a new movie.
Takahashi: In my mind, Yu-Gi-Oh as a body of work was over, so when I was approached with talks of a movie, it never really clicked. I thought to myself that it’s been too long and people have already forgotten about the original manga, heck, even I’m starting to forget it nowadays! (Laughs) I was convinced by the producer, and, well, once I thought about it, I gave him my answer…. Still, thinking about it in a broad regard, there are parts that haven’t completely faded away that I could see, and I figured that I could show how much the characters have grown since the end, so I humbly participated in the project.

The Protomen enhanced my life.iirc it's not the ring spirit/yami bakura who tries to make him kill ryou, it's just an innate evil within the ring. which should be zorc. who shouldn't be there because he's dead and all.
fuck knows, really.
you're huge! that means you have huge guts!In the manga Pegasus says all the Items have an evil intelligence. I assume they were all bits of Zorc, particularly the Eye, Rod, Ring, and maybe the Scales. It makes me wonder what happened to the other Items besides the Puzzle and Ring in the movie.
And wouldn't killing Ryou kill Zorc/Yami Bakura as well since he was their destined vessel? I know Capsule Monsters and Monster Capsule GB had other people possessed by the Ring, and Yami Bakura wanted Mokuba's body in the anime, but I'm not entirely sure how it would work if Ryou was dead.

The Protomen enhanced my life.I know this might sound like Blasphemy, but I must be the only one that think Yu Gi Oh Arc V is better then the original Yu Gi Oh manga.
And the original manga is already fantastic.
Am I?
Watch SymphogearI think GX, 5ds, and Arc-V are better than DM.
You including Season 2 of 5D's in that? Definitely a minority opinion if so.
Whole show.
I meant the original manga.
DM isn't bad, but it doesn't capture the grittiness and overall insanity of the manga all that well.
Watch SymphogearSo did I. Manga's fun, but I prefer the later series focus on the card game and their plots.
I actually prefer the card game to the game-a-day plot as well. Apparently there are some people you shouldn't say that to...
Its mostly because some people felt the card game focus was too merchandise oriented.
The original game of the day plot felt more like it was Hellraiser the manga, and that honestly would have been pretty cool.
I too am fine with the direction the series took, but one can't help but wonder....

Watch SymphogearJump was apparently prepared to bring down the axe if the card game didn't come back. It was really the only thing that was popular in the early days. So I've heard, anyway.
Yeah, the villain of the week format wasn't popular at all, but Kaiba and his card games were. If not for Seto Kaiba the manga would've been canceled at the Shadi arc.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Card game was the main reason I got into Yu-Gi-Oh! as a kid. I started playing the real game and kept watching the anime for the same reasons as Pokemon.
I don't mind the card game focus since I felt the series was still enjoyable but in some sense I feel it's very limiting. I suppose that if it was really the only thing that was going to save the series it doesn't matter either way, but whatever.
Not making a judgment on the other series in comparison to the original. I saw a lot of 5D's episodes and liked the series enough. I think my main criticism would be that the concept of society revolving around card games is inherently silly (hence the drawbacks of the series being so centered on it), but ignoring that it was enjoyable. I might finish it someday but it's not a priority for me or anything.

I personally liked how Duel Monsters' place in society evolved over the various anime series, but that stopped when ZEXAL started. I guess they ran out of ways to inflate its social standing.
When you think about it most real-life sports are kind of ridiculous themselves.
I like the conversation we had once about Pegasus in GX being the most important person on the planet because he makes the cards.
The Protomen enhanced my life.
So from what I've read, Joey gets treated in this movie worse than Gohan did in Resurrection F? ...Yeah, my hype for this movie is officially dead.
