Holy crap the art in volume 4 is so awful.

Are you going to get the last few issues as singles or in a volume? (The Misfits had a mini-series too.)

I'll wait for the trades to come out on comixology. Probably on a sale too.

I loved the art in Vol. 4. Jen Bartel, and then Meredith Mc Claren, who is on of my favourite artists. It's a very distinctive style, but it expresses so much emotion.

It's webcomic tier, especially after how amazing the previous volumes looked (especially the Dark Jem arc).

It's so globby looking.

Mc Claren did have a webcomic, Hinges, which wrapped up last year, I think. It was also published through Image. But like I said, she's one of my favourites. So expressive. The big eyes. It's very much different from pretty much anything out there, but I just find her style wonderful.

Funnily enough, Hinges is on my reading list.

"It's webcomic tier." Would you mind rephrasing that? Unless Gunnerkrigg Court is below your artistic standards.

What do people think of Infinite? I think it's alright, a solid story though not much flash to it (though I give it props of showing what would happen if Synergy was released to the world. I feel that all of the Misfits and Holograms dying except for Kim and Storm was surplus and a little contrived though, there's been a lot of Stimber recently and I do want to see just a bit more of Aja, Shana, Raja, Rox, and Jetta.

The art's decent. Not the best Jem's seen, but not the worst.

[up] But what about the Stingers!? :P (Edited the comic's trope page by the way ^^)

I feel really bad for Raya :( She was Out of Focus in the show and stayed Out of Focus in the comic due to its cancellation shortly after she showed up.

Well I finished vol. 5

It was a nice series, especially for something so diametrically not made for me. I think I'll stop here instead of reading Misfits and Infinite, though.

Unless Misfits is, like, super amazing awesome anyway. I love the Misfits.

I found it disappointing that Raya became a Hologram. Why have her introduced as a Stinger then? Each band having four members (plus Blaze but whatever) seemed like a good idea, as was Raya being the token Nice Guy of her band. Her being a Hologram is so "blah". It's better as an all-family band.

Other than that, the comic has never disappointed me. It's a shame that it ended quickly though. There are so many plot details from the cartoon that I'd like to see. A part of me wants a Jem reboot cartoon inspired by the comic but another part worries it'll have shoddy looking Thin-Line Animation.

[up] In the cartoon Shana temporarily quit so the Holograms needed a new drummer. Raya was just a drummer before becoming a Hologram, with the other major competitor being Stormer's brother. The Misfits picked up Jetta when they heard the Holograms needed new talent, and Shana rejoined the band as the bassist, I think.

[up] I know, I'm well-versed in Jem. Raya being added didn't do anything. Unlike Jetta, she was always just in the background and she was the odd one out when the others started acting sisterly. Her being a Stinger in the comic was an improvement.

"Unless Misfits is, like, super amazing awesome anyway. I love the Misfits." It actually kinda is. It's basically just a set of spotlights on each member of the band, showing the issues they've struggled with to get where they are. Multiple issues will make you cry. Stormer's issue, in addition to showing her own feelings on her weight, also gives a nice demonstration of just how fiercely protective Pizzazz is of Stormer. The Roxy issue adds a lot of tragedy to her, and again, also shows the depth of the friendship between her and Jetta.

Plus, Jenn St. Onge on art, and she's amazing.

So, I actually would recommend the Misfits mini.

[up] Agreed completely. That was one of my favorite miniseries of the year. You can skip Infinite though.

Any thoughts on the anthology series said to coming out soon. I'm kinda sad that Kelly won't be main writer, and Kath Leth is kind of a hit/miss for me.

Sophie Campbell story! Yay!

Also, Tana Ford getting to draw Jem D&D is pretty great.

Well I'm reading the Misfits mini after all this time. It's probably better than the main series. The art is adorable and the Misfits were always the real stars.
