Only thing I'd need to ask then if we're not doing world-building are any limitations we're working with/not bothering with this time on said characters, whether power levels, gear, allegiances, or otherwise. Since it seems we're filling in the blanks to whatever we wish to make relevant to the world, which is more than fine.
After that I think just put up a character sign-up thread to get a feelie for how it might go down should be all the remaining set-up absolutely necessary.
I woulda say "plot", but I ain't gonna jinx it this time. :P

Yeah keep the no gunpowder thing but if someone reall6 wants a gun do something like a caster gun but make bullets for it really rare or something?

Introducing the starting town. There may be a hint of things to come hidden within
Arkenea: The town of beginnings
A fairly large commerce town which acts as a hub for the rest of the mariglenian continent. People from all over the continent (and perhaps beyond) flock to this city to shop, mingle and begin adventures of their own.
At this time of the year the mask ceremony is performed. The ceremony is a rite begun by the early members of the simmons family to banish the cold and allow the new years crops to florish for all of the continent. In order for this to happen they put on masks and give tribute to the gods they believe in. Course due to time this has just become a chance to put on masks to party but a few members of the old guard still believe in the old ways...
The city is without royalty as the king and queen has died and their two offspring constantly battle each other in inane games to get the throne. As such governer Duche Herzog currently runs the city while the kids settle their grudges.
A haven for adventurers is the time in a bottle pub on clock square. Run by a lovely lass called Mio zetretti it is the meeting place of adventurers andvif you are lucky the beginning of your own legend

Basically have the loa team be an adventurers guild based in arkenea they do jobs for money and fame. It opens up many new plot avenues
